Welcome to the Ink It! Stamp It! Design Team Blog Hop - we hop every month so be sure to pop back and visit us again!  Today our theme is: 3D Project.

A couple of trays of angels ready for the Christmas table!
I'll be honest, 3D projects are not generally "my thing" but I do like to make something for the Christmas table every year - so here goes!

A little 3D angel place name holder for my Christmas table
I always like to make something for each table setting that has the place name and a little gift inside.  Last year it was lip salve, this year I've returned to chocolate!

These are the ingredients for the angel: the largest of the scalloped Layering Circles dies, the wings from the Springtime Impressions dies, 1" circle punch, Duet Banner Punch, Fox Builder Punch.

The colours I used are: Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Petal Pink, Smoky Slate and So Saffron.  This is a great way to use up that collection of little leftovers!

This angel is waiting to go on top of the little box that I'll fill with chocolate
     - but at the last minute so it doesn't melt in the Christmas heat!
Instructions:
  1. For the dress/body Make a cone from the scalloped circle by cutting to the centre, wrapping and gluing.
  2. Assemble the head next:
  3. Attach one end of the Petal Pink strip to the back of the Petal Pink circle.
  4. Attach one of the So Saffron Fox Builder tails to the top of the head at the front.
  5. Repeat on the other side.
  6. Attach the fringe.
  7. Draw on the facial features as desired.
  8. Attach the remaining pieces of hair to the back of the head, placing glue only at the top of each piece.
  9. Glue the So Saffron circle to the back of the head.
  10. Glue the "neck" to the seam in the back of the dress, gently bending the head back to a good angle.
  11. Use a bone folder to gently curl back the wings a little.
  12. Slip the wings under the centre two pieces of hair at the back of the angel.  Glue the wings to the back of the dress, covering the neck attachment.
  13. Glue a "hand" to the top of the cut edge of one half of a Very Vanilla Duet Banner

TIPS:

  • If, like me, you're making a lot of these - work in batches (cut everything, assemble all the heads, wrap all the dresses etc)
  • When cutting elements from the Fox Builder Punch, use strips of cardstock to save wastage.  EG  When cutting the hair, I used 3/4" wide strips which I fed into the punch from the right.
  • Using strips of cardstock will also help save wastage when using the Duet Banner Punch.
  • For perfectionists - consider cutting two "sleeve" banners together (having carefully aligned them).  This way you can be sure that the "sleeve sandwich" will perfectly match when you glue them together with the hand between.
To attach the angel to the little box, I used two little bits of ribbon - one end glued inside the dress and the other to the box.

The angels will be attached to little boxes containing chocolate

I'll have to add the chocolate at the last moment so that it doesn't melt in the summer heat!
Since this post is already so long, I've not included the instructions for the box but am happy to supply it - just comment or email me.

Thank you so much for joining us today and we hope you'll join us again next month! I'm Stephanie Fischer and to keep hopping around see the list below to see who is up next with another great project.

Christmas Table Favours - Handbags and shirts

These are my table favours for our first Christmas lunch this year (we always seem to have several celebrations!)

Table Favours containing lip salves for my Christmas Table containing
To be honest, they'd work perfectly for any event, just swap the Christmas bow on the handbag for a different embellishment.  I cut the name tags for the bags with a die in the Window Box Thinlits set and attached it with a piece of Gold Mini Sequin Trim.

The production line - I made 10 of each!
My thanks go to Tanya Boser for her great tutorial for the handbag which was easy to follow - and I'm going to follow her idea for putting a lip salve inside too!  As Tanya points out, there's sufficient space in them for a couple of Lindt Ball chocolaes but there'll be more than enough chocolate and desserts floating around on the day!

This gorgeous little handbag table favour uses Tanya Boser's great tutorial
I used the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper for the bags and those adorable little Christmas bows.

I adapted the sizing and methodology to make this shirt table favour for the men at the table
To make the shirts, I kept the same basic idea and just adapted it a little.  I've included my template below.  For about five minutes I did consider including a pattern on the shirt with either heat embossing or plain Versamark but then I decided that less is more!

The dimensions for the Shirt & Tie Table Favour
I chose to cut a tiny little bit off one of the short ends before I started folding because I found it helped me to keep a tidy collar!

I then folded in exactly the same way as the bag.  To make the collar, I held the top scorelines together and cut along the scoreline for about an inch on each side through all thicknesses of card.

Then it was simply a matter of folding the corners in to form a collar shape.

I made myself a template for the ties and cut them from Gold Foil Sheet.  I decided to write the names on the ties using a Sharpie to avoid the possibility of smudging.

This was my template for the Gold Foil Sheet ties
The ties are attached under the collar with a glue dot.  If necessary, once I've filled the shirts (I don't have the lip salves yet!), I'll put a little bit of low tack tape behind the collar points to hold them in place without making it too difficult to open up the little packets.

Thank you for visiting.
'Til next time!
