Floral Essence on Parisian Flourish

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #floralessence #cardmaking , floral card, Parisian Flourish, Floral Essence Bundle, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Elegantly simple floral card: Parisian Flourish 3D embossing folder and Floral Essence Bundle
This is a more pared down card using a Floral Essence flower that was leftover when I made this, rather more flamboyant, card!

I've used the same products with a very different result.  I think I like this one more!

Thank you for visiting.

Floral Essence Bundle

A bright and happy card featuring the Floral Essence Bundle
It's my belief that the colours I reach for often provide an indication of my mood, emotions, mental state.  For example, I noticed that I used a lot of black and grey during the worst of my "cancer phase" and that I made a lot of monochrome cards.  I don't have a problem with that - I happen to like black and monochrome - but found it interesting.

So - I'm seeing this card as perhaps the harbinger of better times ahead.

Today I'm celebrating!

Those gorgeously furry Perennial Essence Floral Centres really add depth and a fun element to the card
If you're wondering about that background ... to an extent, so am I!  I forgot to write down the steps I took as I went!

I know I gave a piece of watercolour paper a really good spritzing with water and then stamped some of the flowers with Lovely Lipstick ink - hoping for a soft, blended effect that didn't eventuate.  So then I re-spritzed and smooshed into some drops of Mango Melody and Lovely Lipstick inks.

Still unhappy with the result, I put Lovely Lipstick ink onto the raised side of the Parisian Flourish embossing folder and used it to stamp onto my, still wet, piece of watercolour paper.

I think that's it.

Floral Essence Watercolour

Floral Essence stamp set in watercolour mode
Continuing my quest to use the Floral Essence stamp set!

Rather than re-invent the wheel, I used the same layout as I did for my black and gold version but stamped onto Watercolor Paper with Lovely Lipstick and Call Me Clover inks.

I thought about using the fluffy coordinating flower centres but decided they looked too heavy for this watercolour effect of the flowers.  So I watercoloured the flower centres with Crushed Curry and a touch of Lovely Lipstick and added some more Call Me Clover and Lovely Lipstick to complete and shade the flowers.

Then I added just a touch of Mint Macaron to the background.

When it was all dry, I stamped the greeting (from Good Morning Magnolia) with Lovely Lipstick ink and adhered the stamped panel and a layer of Lovely Lipstick to the Mint Macaron card base.

My usual practice is to create the card front and then afterwards figure out the colours I'll use for the card base, layers, ribbon and so on.  That's one of the great things about Stampin' Up! - I can do it that way because I know that I've got a cardstock to coordinate with any ink I use and vice versa.

Playing with colours to decide how to construct my card
So this is what I do - I just pull out card (often just scraps), look and compare.  I tried a layer of Crushed Curry on a Lovely Lipstick base and then tried reversing it before settling on the Mint Macaron card.  Did I get it right?  I don't know - I was very drawn to the Lovely Lipstick base with Crushed Curry layer but I must have been in a mood for elegance and understatement!

Floral Essence Black & Gold

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #saleabration #floralessence #blackandgoldcard , Floral Essence, Golden Honey, Sale-A-Bration, Black & Gold card, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Gold embossed images from the Floral Essence stamp set combined elegantly with the
Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper that's FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration
When I first saw the Annual Catalogue, I immediately knew that I had to purchase the Perennial Essence Suite - its beauty captivated me.

The Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper has been my go to paper since it arrived and the coordinating Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon has decorated many of my cards.

But, here's the strange thing, I'd never used the Floral Essence stamp set, Floral Centres or Perennial Flower Punch until this week!  It's incomprehensible!

So I found myself on two quests: use as much Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper (FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration) as possible and use the Floral Essence stamp set!

Et voila!  Some Versamark, gold embossing powder, a heat tool and a bit of judicious masking was all that it took.  I did use a different stamp set for the greeting though.

Thank you for visiting.
