Theatre fun fold card decorated with Poppy Moments Dies

Continuing from Monday's masculine theatre card, this is a feminine version.  Check out Nicky Nack's Papercrafts for a great video tutorial for this versatile fun fold.

The closed Theatre Fold card with the gorgeous poppies

I used the Poppy Moments Dies, Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper and Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder to decorate my basic fun fold card.

TIP:  When decorating this fun fold, make sure to only adhere decorative elements (such as the poppies and leaves) to the outside "frame" of the card.

Punch Art - Pokemon - Voltorb & Electrode

A punch art card for a young boy: Voltorb and its evolution - Electrode
The other day I shared my punch art Gastly, now meet some more of the pokemon crew!

These are sooo easy! And I love the fact that I can use up little oddments of leftover cardstock!

With a 2" circle punch, I punched two white circles and one red one and divided the red one into two, not quite equal, pieces.  I cut with a curve rather than straight across to continue the feeling of an orb.

The eyes and the mouth involved a little bit of free cutting but it wasn't too arduous.  Then I simply drew in the features with a Basic Black Stampin' Blend.

The pieces I used to make my Voltorb Pokemon
I cut two of the labels, one in red and one in white and then cut the red one in half, fixing the pieces behind the white one

The black background was embossed with the new Old World Paper 3D folder (available from 3rd June 2020).  Then I simply finished it off with a few Rhinestones that I coloured with a Dark Real Red Stampin' Blend.

Magnolia Blooms on Stone

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #magnoliablooms #cardmaking , Magnolia Blooms, Stitched Nested Labels Dies, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Beginning my farewells to the retiring Magnolia Blooms stamp set that I love
The gorgeous Magnolia Blooms stamp set has been one of my favourites and I'm rather sad to see it retiring!  So I've been having a last flurry of creating with it.

The image is stamped with Saddle Brown Stazon ink onto Whisper White cardstock and then watercoloured with Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry and Shaded Spruce inks.

The greeting is stamped with Earlyl Espresso ink.

The base card is Rich Razzleberry with a layer of Sahara Sand embossed with a folder that I forgot was from Sale-A-Bration - so it's retired.  I apologise!  I clearly need to spend some time organising my craft room!

The stamped image and its Rich Razzleberry layer are cut out with the Stitched Nested Labels dies and I added a piece of Reversible Ribbon and some Holiday Rhinestones.

On Monday 25 May, I'll be sharing a different approach to take with the same image.

Animal Outing meets Colorful Seasons

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #animalouting #cardmaking #masking , Animal Outing, Child's birthday card, Masking, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
An Animal Outing birthday card
I do struggle a bit with children's cards - but then I struggle a bit with children!

This is for a little great niece turning 3.

I started by stamping the giraffe and frog with Saddle Brown Stazon ink onto Whisper White cardstock and then added foliage, masking as I went, using the Colorful Seasons stampset (which is retiring very soon) and Free As A Bird stampset.

Then I watercoloured my little scene, taking care not to use too much water and being gentle with my strokes to preserve the integrity of the Whisper White cardstock.  The Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper would have been more suitable ... but I didn't think ahead!

The sentiment is also stamped with the Saddle Brown Stazon ink.  Then I placed layers of Soft Suede and Granny Apple Green cardstock onto my Soft Suede card base.

TIP: MASKING

  • Decide which image is to be at the front of your scene and stamp that first.
  • Stamp the same image onto the sticky part of a post it note (so that the sticky bit is on the back!)
  • Cut out this image INSIDE the lines.
  • Stick the mask you've just made on top of the corresponding image in your project
  • Stamp your next image - it will look like it's behind the first image you stamped.
  • Masking is also useful for protecting images while you sponge around them.

Tea Together Mothers' Day Card

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #mothersdaycard #teatogether , Tea Together, Mothers' Day Card, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
A sweet Mothers' Day card using the Tea Together stamp set and coordinating dies
This card is for my Mother-in-Law - here in Australia we celebrate Mothers' Day on the 2nd Sunday in May.

I'm not sure how celebratory she'll be feeling, or even how we can best celebrate but this is a start.  In the last month she buried her first born child  (and only daughter) and turned 90 two days later during an Easter spent in lockdown.

Despite the emotional devastation, she's soldiering on and constantly expressing her love and gratitude to the family.

Since she has very little sight left to her, I always try to make her cards texturally interesting.  So the white layer is embossed with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing folder and the cup is embossed with the retiring Country Floral embossing folder - I then coloured and cut out the cup and attached it to the saucer with some Mini Dimensionals.

I coloured the white Flax Ribbon by dipping it into a little bit of water dyed with several drops of Melon Mambo reinker and waited for it to dry before attaching to the card.

I shortened the length of the Stitched Label die by using this method.

The rose was stamped onto Crushed Curry card with Memon Mambo ink and then coloured with watercolour pencils and an aqua painter before cutting out with the coordinating die.
