Tea Together Mothers' Day Card

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #mothersdaycard #teatogether , Tea Together, Mothers' Day Card, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
A sweet Mothers' Day card using the Tea Together stamp set and coordinating dies
This card is for my Mother-in-Law - here in Australia we celebrate Mothers' Day on the 2nd Sunday in May.

I'm not sure how celebratory she'll be feeling, or even how we can best celebrate but this is a start.  In the last month she buried her first born child  (and only daughter) and turned 90 two days later during an Easter spent in lockdown.

Despite the emotional devastation, she's soldiering on and constantly expressing her love and gratitude to the family.

Since she has very little sight left to her, I always try to make her cards texturally interesting.  So the white layer is embossed with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing folder and the cup is embossed with the retiring Country Floral embossing folder - I then coloured and cut out the cup and attached it to the saucer with some Mini Dimensionals.

I coloured the white Flax Ribbon by dipping it into a little bit of water dyed with several drops of Melon Mambo reinker and waited for it to dry before attaching to the card.

I shortened the length of the Stitched Label die by using this method.

The rose was stamped onto Crushed Curry card with Memon Mambo ink and then coloured with watercolour pencils and an aqua painter before cutting out with the coordinating die.

Wonderful Romance Layers

I'm getting ready early!

The last time I used this stamp set I used So Saffron cardstock and the no line watercolouring technique.  This time I've stamped onto Petal Pink cardstock with water resistant black ink (Stazon) and then watercoloured with Calypso Coral, Old Olive and Soft Sea Foam inks before cutting out the bouquet with the coordinating die.

Layers of Petal Pink with a pretty bouquet for a delicate mothers' day card
The base card is Shaded Spruce and there are a couple of Petal Pink layers; one embossed with the Subtle embossing folder and the other with the Country Floral embossing folder (currently FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a $90 purchase).

The label is from the Share What You Love Embellishment kit - which at the moment is also FREE during Sale-A-Bration - and I slipped it onto a double layer of ribbon.  The greeting is from the Tea Together stamp set.

To finish the card I used some sequins and little pearls.

Serene Garden Mother's Day Card

Hmmm - I couldn't capture this card properly with my camera - it looks much prettier in person!

I had to angle the card to catch the light on the copper
Serene Garden Bundle with Eclectic Layers

I used the new Serene Garden Bundle which will be available very soon (1 June) in the 2018 to 2019 Annual Catalogue.   One of the pieces in the Garden Scene die set creates a beautiful debossed image and I sponged over the top to highlight it.

I hand drew the stem with a Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Write marker.

Gray Granite provides a pretty neutral in this berry colour palette
The greeting is from the "Must Have" stamp set called Itty Bitty Greetings.  I was very upset to see the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set retire but, I have to say, I think that this new set is even better!  It covers every occasion that I can think of!

To soften the severity of the layout, I used the trellis die from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits to cut a failed experiment!  I've been playing with Copper Foil, inks and embossing powder to try to achieve an engraved, patinated copper look ... that's still a work in progress!

My rejected attempt at achieving the look of engraved, patinated copper

Bloomin' Heart Mothers Day Card

This card is entered into the Crazy Crafters Project Highlights this week.  Click here to view all the cards and vote for your favourites.

This is me getting ready for Mothers' Day, using some Designer Series Paper before it retires and finally getting around to using the Calypso Coral Ombre ink pad that I simply had to have but have never used!

Bloomin' Heart, Touches of Texture, Mothers' Day card, Ombre, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW

I stamped the Bloomin' Heart with the ombre pad first and then hand cut a mask for it.  Having masked the heart, I stamped the flower spray twice in Blushing Bride ink.  I used one of the layers of the Build A Birthday set to stamp a ribbon in Mint Macaron.

I removed my mask and added some shading with Smoky Slate ink.  I used the same brush and water with Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron inks to colour the flower sprays.  I wanted them to be in the background, so kept the shades light.

I punch a heart with the Sweetheart punch with Calypso Coral paper and then stamped the greeting in Basic Black ink before adhering the heart with glue dots.

Thank you for visiting.
