No Bones About It Gift Tags

I recently gave some dragon dress-ups to my little niece and nephew - which they decided are dinosaurs (they are both dinosaur crazy!).  That suited me just fine because, lacking a dragon stamp (and the will to draw some!) I had used the No Bones About It dinosaurs and ghosting technique to create the gift tags.

Ghosted dinosaurs? No Bones About It!

On glossy cardstock I first stamped the bones with Versamark. Once it was dry, I stamped the sold shape with Old Olive ink.

The leaves around the edge are stamped with Tranquil Tide ink and I watercoloured some Crumb Cake ink under the dinosaurs to ground them.

I chose to CASE this Pop Up Corner card by Dawn but have put a rather different spin on it.

When my son was young and fascinated by Dinosaurs, we used to play a computer game together (back in the day of the floppy disk!) where we went looking for dinosaurs in various eras to take a photo of them.  It was so much fun!  It's no surprise, then, that I love the No Bones About It stamp set!  Since its introduction I've enjoyed creating many little dino-scenes but I think I like this one the best.

The dimensionality of the card, makes it quite hard to photograph!

When my son (now 23 years old!) saw the inside of this card, he just loved it!  He said he'd love to be 7 or 8 years old again because it would be the ultimate birthday card!  High praise!

Can you spot the danger lurking?

There seems to have been a migration down from the mountains!  The Triceratops couple and the Stegosaurus seem blissfully ignorant of the lurking danger!

No Bones About It - Dinoparty!

If you saw my previous post featuring dinosaurs, you may be wondering .... what happened next?

Even if you aren't wondering - I'm going to tell you now!

Continuing the story of the Dinosaur Party

On the front of the card, the T-rex couple are arriving at the party, bearing their gifts, while the brachiosaurus puts the finishing touches to the bunting in the trees (who better to reach high enough?).

Inside the card, we find our two Triceratops friends.  They haven't quite made it to the party yet, but they're close and they're bringing a balloon as their contribution to the festivities!

The card is Night of Navy with layers of Daffodil Delight and Lost Lagoon (doesn't that just sound like an inviting name for a dinosaur?!).

I have used black ink everywhere.  The only exception is the Smoky Slate marker I used to fill in the flowers, tree trunks and parcel.  I also used a Basic Black marker on the bunting to hide the "Merry Christmas" wording!

Dinosaur Hunt

Today I needed to make a birthday card for my pre-school age great-nephew.  I'm not sure what it says about me but this was my creative thought process:
"Must make a card for Hunter ... oooh, I haven't used those dinosaur stamps yet ... boys like dinosaurs ... Hunter ... T-Rex hunting vegesaurs" !!

I like to think of the lead Triceratops saying to the other one "Run, Forest, Run!"

It all ends well though .... the T-Rex just wants to invite them to a birthday celebration!

No, it's just a dinosaur birthday party!

I was a bit pressed for time, so it's a very simple card.  The base is Cajun Craze followed by a layer of Lost Lagoon and the stamped layer is Crushed Curry.

I stamped the leading Triceratops first and masked it.  Then stamped the second Triceratops and masked that too.  Then I stamped the tree, leaves and foreground dots (I'm not sure if they're footprints or rocky ground!).  Then I stamped the T-Rex and sentiment.  I stamped the T-Rex right in the corner to try to give a little more depth to my simple little scene.  I used Mossy Meadow ink.

For the inside I stamped the T-Rex again, this time giving him a party hat and some foot prints.  The birthday sentiment is from the Tin of Cards set - it's one I use a lot.

I hope you like my simple little card - it was a lot of fun to make.  My mind is now spinning with more dinosaur scenes with more details (like a sky!).
