Country Road Whisky - A masculine card

A masculine card using the Country Road stamp set to produce a masculine whisky-themed card

This is a birthday card for a young man who is "twenty something". Another special request from my son!   He's a whisky club friend who is very fond of Ardbeg whiskies.  I printed the image of the bottle onto Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out.  It's adhered with mini Dimensionals.

I thought the Country Road stamp looks like the barley that is grown for whisky (I stamped several times to get some depth - like a field of barley) and the font in the sentiment from the Painted Glass stamp set seems to go well with the Ardbeg font.

I "extended" both of the label die cuts to make room for the bottle.

Country Road Sunrise

A nice little break from Christmas cards!  I needed a masculine birthday card.

A sponged country scene suitable for a masculine card

I started by sponging (not too carefully!) a strip of Coastal Cabana to the top of the Whisper White card.  I then applied, pretty roughly, a layer of Pineapple Punch ink to the rest of the card.

Just under the Coastal Cabana strip I then, again very roughly, sponged some Grapefruit Grove and just a touch of Calypso Coral.

I tore a piece of paper to create a mask for the mountain (actually it's one I'd made and used for an earlier card and kept in my drawer) and sponged in some Fresh Fig ink - intensifying the shade in some areas and leaving it lighter in others.

Starting from the bottom of the card, I then sponged on some Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green inks.

I used my Stamparatus to stamp the grass and greeting so that I could control my overstamping.  I stamped a few times with black to get a good deep coverage and then, for the grass, moved the paper just a smidge and stamped again with Whisper White Craft ink.  To achieve darker grass, I could have reversed that process.

The base card is Granny Apple Green with a small layer of Fresh Fig.

Galloping along the Country Road

This is an appreciation card for one of my much-loved cousins who loves horses.  For many years, her best friend was a huge and beautiful black horse called Duke and I know she misses him terribly.

Selectively ink the stamp to turn a weather vane into a galloping horse

This is an easy card to make, as long as you work in the right order.

1. Stamp the grass from the Enjoy Life stamp set.  I used Call Me Clover ink.
2. Use a Stampin' Write Marker (I used Basic Black) to ink only the horse in the weathervane image from the Country Road stamp set and stamp the horse.
3. Make a mask by stamping the horse again on a piece of scrap paper or a Post It Note and cutting it out just inside the lines.  
4. Place the mask over the stamped horse.
5. Tear a piece of scrap paper to form some hill shapes and place it so that the torn edge is facing down towards the grass.  Sponge a lighter green between the stamped grass and the torn paper edge.
6. Punch a small circle (keep the remaining piece with the hole as a stencil) and place as a mask in the sky area.
7. Lightly sponge the sky (I used Balmy Blue).  If you're concerned about sponging blue onto the grass area, you can mask the grass with the other piece of torn paper.
8. Remove the mask from the sky.
9. Place the punched hole over the white circle in the sky area and sponge lightly with yellow ink to create a sun (I used Pineapple Punch).  Remove the stencil.
10. Stamp the trees from the Winter Woods stamp set (I used Soft Suede ink)
11. Remove the mask from the horse.

There are lots of ways to play with the design:

• Create a road and lower the horse's hooves closer to the road surface
• Change the colours to create a night sky, leaving the circle white for a moon.
• Add some stippled green foliage to the trees for a summery look or
• Add some stippled amber/gold foliage to the trees for an autumnal look.
• Make a wider card and have several horses running together or chasing each other
