Let It Ride - Galloping Horse

There are a few people in my life who love horses and so I felt compelled to purchase this stamp set when I saw it!  This card will be for one of my nieces.

I coloured this piece with watercolour pencils and an Aquapainter and layered it onto my card with Tranquil Tide cardstock and Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Ink it! Stamp it! International Design Team Blog Hop - Sale-A-Bration & Occasions Catalogues

Let It Ride horse image with Frosted Bouquet die and the Outside The Box technique
to look somewhat like a horse in a horsebox or stable

As soon as I saw this gorgeous horse image I knew I wanted to use it with the Out Of The Box technique.  Having gone through most of my dies I decided this  label from the Frosted Bouquet framelits was the best fit.  And then the shape of it made me think of a horse box, especially since I was left with the spare timber look rectangle after cutting the frame.

I continued the timber theme with layers of the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, one of which I altered with some Whisper White Craft Ink and the new Crackle Paint stamp.

The horse is coloured with Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers.

Since the first card I made didn't utilise any of the amazing freebies from the Sale-A-Bration brochure, I made the card below with the gorgeous foil sheets as a feature.

The butterfly is a leftover from this card and is black heat embossed on the Grapefruit Grove Foil Sheet and coloured with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  

Onto the Thick Whisper White base card I've layered Basic Black, a piece of the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper with some of the Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheet underneath it.

Galloping along the Country Road

This is an appreciation card for one of my much-loved cousins who loves horses.  For many years, her best friend was a huge and beautiful black horse called Duke and I know she misses him terribly.

Selectively ink the stamp to turn a weather vane into a galloping horse

This is an easy card to make, as long as you work in the right order.

1. Stamp the grass from the Enjoy Life stamp set.  I used Call Me Clover ink.
2. Use a Stampin' Write Marker (I used Basic Black) to ink only the horse in the weathervane image from the Country Road stamp set and stamp the horse.
3. Make a mask by stamping the horse again on a piece of scrap paper or a Post It Note and cutting it out just inside the lines.  
4. Place the mask over the stamped horse.
5. Tear a piece of scrap paper to form some hill shapes and place it so that the torn edge is facing down towards the grass.  Sponge a lighter green between the stamped grass and the torn paper edge.
6. Punch a small circle (keep the remaining piece with the hole as a stencil) and place as a mask in the sky area.
7. Lightly sponge the sky (I used Balmy Blue).  If you're concerned about sponging blue onto the grass area, you can mask the grass with the other piece of torn paper.
8. Remove the mask from the sky.
9. Place the punched hole over the white circle in the sky area and sponge lightly with yellow ink to create a sun (I used Pineapple Punch).  Remove the stencil.
10. Stamp the trees from the Winter Woods stamp set (I used Soft Suede ink)
11. Remove the mask from the horse.

There are lots of ways to play with the design:

• Create a road and lower the horse's hooves closer to the road surface
• Change the colours to create a night sky, leaving the circle white for a moon.
• Add some stippled green foliage to the trees for a summery look or
• Add some stippled amber/gold foliage to the trees for an autumnal look.
• Make a wider card and have several horses running together or chasing each other
