Crazy Crafters Blog Hop: Sale-A-Bration - Make A Medallion Two Ways

Image may contain: text

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters' Blog Hop highlighting the latest set of Sale-A-Bration products.

Whether you are starting the blog hop here at my blog, Stephanie Fischer - The Crafty Thinker, or have come from the person before me, be sure to click on the person listed under me further down the page to continue your journey on this blog hop.

Sale-A-Bration is such an exciting time in the crafting year!  There are so many opportunities for bargains, freebies and great new and exclusive products!  For more information, click here.

We've already been spoiled with amazing products in Sale-A-Bration so far but there will be another three products introduced to the range on 21 February!  I have chosen to highlight the Make a Medallion stamp set.

I made two cards and couldn't decide which to include, so I'm going to show you both of them!

This is the first: I combined the Make A Medallion Stamp Set with another Sale-A-Bration freebie (one of my favourite stamp sets at the moment!) - Hey, Chick.

Just loving the masculine colours and bold designs in the Urban Underground Designer Series Paper

There are several stamps in the set including some useful words, so it's very versatile.  To increase the versatility, there are two stamps for the medallion so a combination of colours can be used (I've used grey and black) or you could choose to use just one layer.

This cheeky bird is very nosey and loves to check out what's happening!

The quickest and easiest way to cut out the medallion is with the Layering Circle Framelits but I chose to fussy cut around the scalloped edge.  I also cut out the middle of the medallion so that the cheeky bird could peek out at us!  The bird is from another of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets called Hey, Chick.

I only glued the bird at the base and then used a double layer of Stampin Dimensionals to push the head forward.  I disguised the dimensionals with a piece of Metallic Ribbon from the combo pack.  I teased the fibres apart, initially with my fingers and then by running my piercing tool through it.  It separates very easily and I glued it around the head then gave it a bit of  a hair cut.

The second card combines the very popular Beautiful You stamp set with Make A Medallion.

The lady is coloured with Stampin' Up watercolour pencils and an aqua painter.  I fussy cut around her
after I had adhered the Glimmer Paper dress

The shimmery dress (she must be on her way to a cocktail party!) is made with one of the other new Sale-A-Bration releases - the 6" x 6" Glimmer Paper Assortment (Bermuda Bay shown here, Mint Macaron and Sweet Sugarplum).

She is set against a background of Falling In Love Designer Series Paper.  The other layers are Pacific Point and Irresistably Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper sponged with Soft Sky ink.  Some may be wondering why I didn't use Bermuda Bay layers to match the Bermuda Bay dress and the reason is that I felt there was an abundance of warm tones that needed a little bit of a cooler counter-balance.

Tip:
Stamp onto the glimmer paper as dark as you can because it can be quite tricky to see the lines to cut around.  I found I needed to use a good light and keep adjusting the angle of the paper to get a clearer view.

I hope you've enjoyed these cards and I welcome your comments.

Thanks for following our blog hop. Remember that currently you are at my blog - Stephanie Fischer - so click on the next name in the list to ensure that you don't miss out of seeing any of the blogs and the amazing inspiration they contain.

Hey, Chick - Looking Eggselent! Sale-A-Bration

This card was inspired by the Global Design Project sketch challenge this week  #GDP070.

www.thecraftythinker.com.au, Sale-A-Bration, Hey Chick, #GDP070, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
No ducks, but the eggs are almost lined up in a row!

It's a very straight forward card.  I stamped the images from the free Sale-A-Bration stamp set Hey, Chick onto Very Vanilla cardstock and coloured them with watercolour pencils and an aqua painter.

I mounted the stamped strip onto a slightly larger piece of Watermelon Wonder cardstock and then another piece of Very Vanilla (this time I didn't place it evenly - I left a wider border at the top).  I added the fussy cut "stickybeak" before adhering the panel to the piece of paper from the Carried Away Designer Series Paper pack.

It's a happy but non-specific greeting suitable for all sorts of occasions

Naturally, the stickybeak makes a appearance inside the card too!

www.thecraftythinker.com.au, Sale-A-Bration, Hey Chick, #GDP070, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The peeking chicken is adhered with a piece of dimension so that it sticks forward from the panel.
At this point in writing this blog post I'm wondering whether "stickybeak" is a term used anywhere outside of Australia!  If not - it can be translated as "nosey-parker"!

I'm really having fun with this stamp set - I'm still pinching myself that it was a freebie!  In fact, the ribbon and the pack of printed paper were also freebies!

Hey, Chick Housewarming Card

I made this card for the amazing Kylie & Bruno Bertucci who have moved to their new house.

www.thecraftythinker.com.au, Hey Chick, Sale-A-Bration, Urban Underground DSP, #thecraftythinker, #stampinup, Bleaching Technique, Housewarming card, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Two chickens (OK - one should be a rooster!) in their new coop!

It's a little bit quirky (and I hope they don't think I regard them as a couple of chooks!) but I wanted to make something a little bit different for them and I do love the images in the Hey, Chick stamp set (FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a $90 purchase!).

The paper (from the Urban Underground pack) reminds me a bit of chicken wire.  I wanted to keep the colour scheme simple and the Delightful Dijon pops nicely against the simple black and silver.

The chickens are heat embossed, one in white and one in clear, on Basic Black cardstock and then bleached.  I used the Layering Squares framelits to cut out the white chicken and added a Delightful Dijon frame cut with two of the Layering Squares.  I fussy cut the black chicken and added it with Stampin' Dimensionals (because no card should go to Bruno without dimensionals!).

This label has a beautiful shape that really suits the Brushwork Alphabet letters
The inside of the card is decorated with a small piece of paper from the same Urban Underground pack, to which I added the Basic Black and Delightful Dijon layers cut with dies from the Stylish Stems framelits.  The final step was to use Basic Black ink to add their initials (K&B) using the Brushwork Alphabet stamp set

Thank you for visiting.

Tasty Truck of Cupcakes - Shaker Card

Thanks for coming to my blog today! We are being highlighted internationally by Kylie Bertucci and you are able to VOTE for my project. The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop so please vote for my project. You can do that here.

Our theme for this highlight is Travel!  Here in Australia we're in the midst of our hot summer, so I do hope that this truck with its load of cupcakes is well-refrigerated!

This little truck has been converted into a shaker card

As you can see, this little truck is a shaker card.  I can't think of any plausible explanation for having a truck full of glitter, except that I could and I wanted to!

The layers are Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso and Pool Party

This gorgeous truck with its selection of goodies (there are tacos, hot dogs, ice creams, cup cakes, an iced cake and a string of sausages!) is FREE with an order of $90.  Hard to believe that such an amazing stamp set (with 16 photopolymer stamps) could be a freebie!  Thank you, Stampin' Up!
