Kylie's International Highlights Top Ten Blog Hop - Get Well Soon

Image may contain: text

I'm so excited (and at the same time humbled) to be taking part in this very special blog hop as one of the Top Ten winners from last month's Get Well themed International Project Highlights run by Kylie Bertucci.  The theme for this blog hop is also Get Well.

I would like to just say a big "thank you" to everybody who voted for my card, thereby providing me with this wonderful opportunity.

A little bit of humour to cheer up a sick friend!

I think this quirky shaker card is suitable for any age group, male or female and so it will sit in my stash of cards (hopefully for a long time) until it's needed.

I've realised that, since this is an international blog hop, some of you may be scratching your head in bewilderment at the moment!  So, just in case, I should explain that if we contract a virus we will often say "I've caught the bug" or "I have a bug".  This card is a play on words and "shake" also means "to rid oneself of".

The bug is stamped, coloured and hand cut.  The lid is heat embossed in gold.  The shadow under the jar is from the Beautiful You stamp set and the splodges are from the Timeless Textures stamp set.

I created the greeting with the Brushwork Alphabet set.

The bug shakes around in the jar

I cut the layers to size and then cut the jar from the top layer with an Everyday Jars framelit.  Positioning the top layer over the Whisper White layer beneath, I stamped the matching jar from the Jar of Love stamp set into the cut out space so that I knew it would line up.

Using Fast Fuse, I stuck a piece of Window Sheet to the back of the cut out and then carefully stuck Foam Adhesive Strips around the edge of the cut out and then around the edge of the layer.

I placed the bug on top of the stamped jar and then carefully lowered the top layer to adhere it.

Tip: stamp the top layer before adding the foam strips.

'Til next time!

Tasty Truck of Cupcakes - Shaker Card

Thanks for coming to my blog today! We are being highlighted internationally by Kylie Bertucci and you are able to VOTE for my project. The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop so please vote for my project. You can do that here.

Our theme for this highlight is Travel!  Here in Australia we're in the midst of our hot summer, so I do hope that this truck with its load of cupcakes is well-refrigerated!

This little truck has been converted into a shaker card

As you can see, this little truck is a shaker card.  I can't think of any plausible explanation for having a truck full of glitter, except that I could and I wanted to!

The layers are Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso and Pool Party

This gorgeous truck with its selection of goodies (there are tacos, hot dogs, ice creams, cup cakes, an iced cake and a string of sausages!) is FREE with an order of $90.  Hard to believe that such an amazing stamp set (with 16 photopolymer stamps) could be a freebie!  Thank you, Stampin' Up!

Christmas stocking shaker card

I like interactive, fun cards - especially shaker cards but, for some reason, I've made very few shaker cards.  So I've decided to make more shaker cards this Christmas!
Stampin Up, Hang Your Stocking, Shaker Card, Christmas Card, Xmas card, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Sydney NSW, Stephanie Fischer
There's a mix of Fancy Frost sequins and white Mica Flakes to shake

In the past I've "overstuffed" my shaker cards but this time I over-compensated!  I wanted to leave plenty of space for shaking, which I achieved, but not much of the pretty stuff shows when the card is at rest!  - Another little lesson learned the hard way!

The greeting is from the Star of Light stamp set

I didn't present a perfect card today but I hope it might inspire you in some way.

Thank you for visiting.

Jar of Love shaker card for Kitchen Tea

This card is for another kitchen tea - it's another shaker card, this time using the Jar of Love bundle.
Stampin Up, #thecraftythinker, Shaker card, Jar of Love, Kitchen Tea card, Foam free shaker card, Stampin Up Australia Distributor
This shaker card uses no foam strips

The sequins I used are a mixture from the new Fancy Frost pack and the Brights pack - I picked out mostly hearts in the Melon Mambo and blue colours.

I again used Sarah-Jane's tutorial for making the shaker element with no foam.

The inside of the card

Inside the card I stamped a greeting from the Designer Tin of Cards stamp set and filled the corners with flourishes from the same set.  I used a Melon Mambo marker to add a little colour to them.

The main colours of the card are Island Indigo, Soft Sky and Melon Mambo

I finished the card with some of the Enamel Shapes in Metallic silver and Melon Mambo.
