Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlight: Masculine Card - Eastern Beauty Bundle

Our theme for this highlight is Masculine.  

One of our friends is celebrating his 70th birthday this week and this will be his card.  I think the colour combination saves this card from femininity.  I was concerned about adding the medallion and tassel but then I came to the conclusion that there's no reason why a man shouldn't have the pleasure of receiving a beautifully appointed card!

Opulent but masculine with the Eastern Beauty bundle!

The card base is in the new In-Colour, Lemon Lime Twist (the one I thought I wouldn't like!) and the paper is from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. 

The horizontal band is made with more Lemon Line Twist cardstock and some Dapper Denim decorated with gold stickers from the matching Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers.  The Dapper Denim, Gold Foil and Lemon Lime Twist medallion is created with the Eastern Medallions thinlits, Layering Circles framelits and a circle punch.  At the centre is one of the gorgeous new Glitter Enamel Dots  and of course there's a beautiful gold tassel from the new Mini Tassels Assortment.

Inside the card can be found a greeting and age stamped in Lemon Lime Twist and Dapper Denim with the Number of Years stamp set.  The corners are decorated with one of the stamps from the new Eastern Beauty stamp set and Tranquil Tide ink (one of the new In-Colours).

Eastern Beauty Bundle meets Cupcakes & Carousels

I was getting to know the Eastern Beauty Bundle today and loving its versatility.  My goal for the day, however, was to use some retiring products - so I did both!

The medallion is so decorative that the rest of the card needed to be kept plain & simple

The colours I used were inspired by those included in the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series paper pack: Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, So Saffron and Very Vanilla with a card base of Pool party.

The multiple stamped flower inside is from an idea shared by Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek

The use of Stampin' Dimensionals provides space for the tassel as well as adding some depth to the card.

I've really only just dipped my big toe into the creative pool that is the Eastern Beauty Bundle and already I'm blown away by it's versatility and ... well ... beauty!

Special Reason For Dragonflies

I'm just so excited by the new Occasions Catalogue (Products available 4 January 2017 to 31 May 2017) - Stampin' Up! just keep surpassing themselves .... I don't know how they do it!

I have always love dragonflies - so when I saw this bundle in the new catalogue - I had to buy it!

This card features beautiful flowers and sentiment from the Special Reason stamp set (P. 42 of the catalogue) combined with dragonflies cut from Copper Foil Sheet with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies.

The dragonflies are available as a bundle with the Dragonfly Dreams Stamp set - which is so gorgeous that it's well worth while buying the bundle and saving 10% in the process!

The strip of Copper Foil Sheet is embossed with the new Falling Petals embossing folder.

Crazy Crafters' Blog Hop - 11 December - Guest Lisa Curcio - Beautiful You

This is the card of Lisa's that I finally settled on - she's so talented that there were many that caught my eye!  

I have used the overall layout that combines rectangle with oval.  I also used the same embossing folder as Lisa and the focal element placed to the left of the oval.  

Not only do these bright colours appeal to me but they're colours that my friend wears a lot

This card is for the special birthday of a special friend .... requiring a special card!  My friend is an elegant, artistic lady with a good sense of humour.  If she had two good feet, she would definitely dance her way into her seventies!

The mechanism for the easel card is made from a piece of A4 cardstock cut to 6.25"x10" then scored and folded along the long side at 5" and 7.5".

The heart is from a new stamp set called Sealed With Love from the new Occasions Catalogue.  I stamped it onto Copper Foil Sheet with Stazon ink and cut it out with matching framelit - these sets will be available as a bundle at a 10% discount.

I was a little disappointed with myself for giving the dancing lady image dark hair, since my friend is a red head - so there's a little surprise on the inside that I think will appeal to her sense of humour.

I'll be adding the words "You're still a spring chicken!"

For the decorative strip, I cut a piece of Copper Foil Sheet to size and positioned it carefully in the Confetti embossing folder.

Watercolouring made incredibly easy!!!
The new Stampin' Up Watercolour Pencils (available with the release of the new Occasions Catalogue on 4 January 2017) are a wonderful, and foolproof, way to add colour to a project!  I used them to colour both the images in this project.

The Stampin' Up Watercolour Pencils will be generally available from 4 January 2017

You could simply colour in the image and then run a damp paintbrush over it to smooth and blend.  As you'll see from the images below, I chose to add the colour in the areas I wanted to be darkest and used a damp paintbrush to blend the pigment out from there, which creates a graduation of colour and an effortless artistic look.   
Tips:  I recommend the use of watercolour paper.
         Stamp the image with waterproof ink such as Stampin' Up Archival Basic Black
