Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Something Different

Image may contain: text
Welcome to the Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop, running monthly. You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer from Australia.
This month our theme is: Something Different
#stampindreams, #minialbum, mini album, Eastern Palace, Eastern Medallions, 3D project, #thecraftythiner, Stampin Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The front of the mini album features mainly the Eastern Palace suite of products

I have never made an album before - so that's something different for me!  It was a lot of fun to make but really challenged my patience!  It turns out that actually making the bare bones of the album is the quick part - off and on it took me weeks to decorate the album and make all the little surprises.

I worked from a tutorial by Corenescreations.

The final challenge was to photograph it!  Unfortunately it didn't fit into my light box properly so I spent another day trying to edit out all the joins and seems of the box that were not very attractive features of my photographs!

Each page has a side tab to pull out a double-sided layout sheet

The frame on the front of the album is cut with one of the Lots of Labels framelits in conjunction with a Layering Oval framelit.  The lined sheet is cut from one of the Merry Little Christmas Memories & More cards with the idea that a date and the contents of the album can be written on the lines.

The Eastern Palace papers are so elegant!

Each page has a double-sided pull out.  I used the Circle Tab Punch to create the tags and decorated them with Copper Foil Sheet circles cut with the coordinating circle punch.  I glued the tabs onto the base card before I added cardstock layers so that they wouldn't catch the edges of the pockets.

This photo shows some of the side tabs partially pulled out

Some of the pages fold open to reveal an extra panel.  Hidden magnets hold them closed.

The page to the right has a flap, held closed with a magnet, that opens up into a three page spread

There are lots of decorative elements in the album but I've tried to maintain some consistency.  The various elements are cut with the following products:
Swirly Snowflakes thinlits

Bloomin' Heart thinlits (the flowers)
Eastern Medallions
Decorative Ribbon Border Punch

Other pages have decorative pockets that hold another double-sided card - one side is Dapper Denim and the other is Tranquil Tide.

I haven't been able to include photographs of every page - but I think you'll get the gist!

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters' Blog Hop with our Special Guest stamper, Debbie Henderson - we are thrilled to have Debbie join us this month and so excited to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) any project that has been created by her .

Whether you are starting the blog hop here at my blog, Stephanie Fischer - The Crafty Thinker, or have come from the person before me, be sure to click on the person listed under me further down the page to continue your journey on this blog hop.

Looking through all of Debbie's lovely cards, I ended up with a very long "short list" but eventually chose this card to CASE because I've been promising myself that I'd try the Tarnished Foil Technique for quite some time.  I'm so glad I did, because it was enormous fun - so much so that you'll be seeing more of it from me in the days to come!

The Tarnished Foil Technique works so well with the Layered Leaves 3D Embossing Folder

Using Debbie's instructions, I started out by using the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on a piece of Silver Foil Sheet.  I swiped a Basic Black Archival ink pad over it and left it to dry.

Then I randomly patted the sheet with a Versamark pad and sprinkled it with gold embossing powder.  I used a dry paintbrush to soften any hard edges in the embossing powder and then set it with the heat tool.  I repeated this process with copper embossing powder and when I was happy with the metallics, I lightly added a bit more black with the ink pad.

At this point, I cut my piece in half and used half for this card and half on another card that I'll show you tomorrow.

Basic Black and Very Vanilla create such an elegant card combined with the
metallics of the Tarnished Foil Technique

I adhered my decorative piece to a Very Vanilla panel and added some ribbon (the 7/8" Striped Ribbon is a new product in the Holiday Catalogue and will be generally available from 1st September).  This panel is attached to the Basic Black card with Adhesive Foam Strips.

I stamped the "flower" design from the Eastern Beauty stamp set in Basic Black onto Very Vanilla and then cut it out with the coordinating die from the Eastern medallions thinlits (available as a bundle for a saving of 10%).  Having used my bone folder and ball tool to add some movement to the flower, I attached it with a Stampin' Dimensional.  I also put some Mini Dimensionals behind each petal so that they'll maintain their shape through the postal system.

Using some Copper Foil Sheet, I cut some leaves with the new Leaf Punch from the Holiday Catalogue (also generally available from 1st September) and gave them a little dimension with a ball tool before adhering them to the card with some mini glue dots.

The finishing touches were some of the Gold Faceted Gems.

I hope you've enjoyed this card and I welcome your comments.

Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack: a quick and easy way to make a beautiful and elegant card
I've been having fun using just the words from these thinlits but today I decided to use it as intended!

I made a lever card with Berry Burst cardstock.  I added a frame of Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper in Berry Burst and layered the centre with Whisper White card and the Lovely Words panel.

In the closed position the flower in the corner blends into the Fresh Florals frame!

The flower in the corner is made from Whisper White and Berry Burst cardstock and the centre is a Glitter Enamel Dot.  To make the flower, I used one of the Eastern Medallion thinlits to cut the White base and one of the Flourish thinlits to cut the detailed Berry Burst layer.  I gently used a bone folder to slightly curl the top petals.

Monotone cards are anything but monotonous!

The sentiments inside the card are from Happy Birthday Gorgeous (to the right) and the Eastern Beauty stamp set (to the left).  The lower edges of the Whisper White panels are decorated with a stamp from the Eastern Beauty set.  For all the stamping I used Berry Burst ink.

Fabulous Eastern Flamingo

Someone is going to have to explain the flamingo thing to me!  I must be too old and too out of touch to understand the trend for flamingo images!    I received this Fabulous Flamingo stamp set as a freebie at On Stage.  I'm always grateful for freebies so this is my first flamingo!
sneak peek Fabulous Flamingo, Eastern Beauty Bundle, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
I love the new Berry Burst colour - even on flamingoes!

I stamped the three-step flamingo with Powder Pink, Berry Burst and Basic Black inks.  Then I dry-brushed a little more Berry Burst ink over the light pink feathers and added a few shadows with more Berry Burst ink.

Since I wanted the Flamingo to be in front of the grasses, I protected it with a mask (the only fiddly bit!) before stamping the grass image several times in Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive and Garden Green inks.  I sponged the sky with Soft Sky ink.

I stamped the water with Dapper Denim ink and then added some Marina Mist with an Aqua Painter.

At this point I realised that I hadn't masked off any of the bird's legs when I stamped it, so it looked like it was walking on water!  In order to disguise this flaw, I used a flower left over from a previous card and added some leaves.  The flower is made with the Easern Beauty Bundle and has a Glitter Enamel Dot centre.  The leaves are cut with the Rose Garden thinlit in both Lemon Lime Twist and Garden Green and paper-pieced together.

The base card is Dapper Denim and I added a Whisper White layer to provide a small frame around the image.

Thank you for your visit.

Eastern Beauty Floral

This card is included in the Crazy Crafters Project Highlights this week.  Click here to see all the beautiful cards and vote for your favourites.

I just can't stop using the Eastern Beauty Bundle - it's so amazingly versatile and fun to use!  On this card, I've paired it with some paper-pieced leaves created with the Rose Garden thinlits.
Floral card, Paper-piecing, Sneak Peek, Eastern Beauty Bundle, In-Colours, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
I paper-pieced half of the medallion to continue the Tranquil Tide colouring

When I first saw the new In-Colour, Lemon Lime Twist, my reaction wasn't very favourable.  I thought it was too bright, acidic and well - green.  I thought to myself "there's a colour I'll never use!".  So now I'm officially eating my words!  I still dislike the colour on its own but I concede that it adds the perfect pop of "zing" to many colour combinations.  I can see that, in fact, I'll be using it quite a lot!

More new favourites of mine are the Glitter Enamel Dots!

The greeting is a combination of the the banner from Banners For You and the "Best Wishes" from .  The advantage of photopolymer being that I could bend the words to fit the banner.
Floral card, Paper-piecing, Sneak Peek, Eastern Beauty Bundle, In-Colours, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
My new go-to birthday greeting is from the new stamp set "Happy Birthday Gorgeous"
Inside the card I stamped a couple of leaves from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous set using the new In-colour Tranquil Tide and coloured them with Lemon Lime Twist.  I then added another little flower made with the Eastern Beauty bundle.

Sneak Peeks included in this card:
  • Eastern Beauty Bundle (Eastern Medallions Thinlits, Eastern Beauty stamp set)
  • Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack (Berry Burst colour used)
  • 2017-2019 In-Colour cardstock pack (Tranquil Tide, Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist used)
  • Tranquil Tide ink pad
  • Berry Burst ink pad
  • Lemon Lime Twist Stampin' Write Marker (2017-2019 In-Colour pack of markers)
  • Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set
  • Glitter Enamel Dots
Thank you for your visit.

Eastern Carousel For You

Continuing my combination from last Friday of the Eastern Beauty Bundle with the Cupcakes & Carousels paper and embellishments, I created this card.
Eastern Medallions, sneak peek, Eastern Beauty Bundle, Cupcakes & Carousels, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The Eastern Medallions thinlits make opulent and gorgeous decorations in any colour combination

This is a thank you card for one of our incredible staff members who so regularly go "above and beyond" that it would be easy to take it for granted.

Eastern Medallions, sneak peek, Eastern Beauty Bundle, Cupcakes & Carousels, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The gorgeous pattern inside is a slightly adjusted version of an idea shared by Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek

I used the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishments as well as some of the Designer Series Paper.

Thank you for your visit.
