Fun fold: Concertina Pop Up Card suitable for A4 cardstock
Featuring Trusty Toolbox paper (162978)

Hello again!

I made a series of Concertina Pop Up cards which I thought I'd share with you.

I first became aware of this impressive-looking fun fold while perusing Sam Calcott's tutorial videos.  I really admire her work and never fail to find inspiration from her.  So, following her clear instructions, I made the following card using one of the paper packs that I got FREE in Sale-A-Bration.

The resulting card might just be one of my all-time favourite makes.

However, it didn't fit two of my criteria: it didn't fit into one of my standard envelopes and it required 12" x 12" cardstock for the concertina section, which is why my concertina section is a different colour - I had to use something from my odds and ends collection!  I think it works though.

I then made a card using the dimensions at Maria's Crafting Corner that inspired Sam Calcott but used Sam's methodology for the extra pop up dimension.  Whilst smaller, it still didn't fit my criteria.

So I altered the dimensions to suit my needs and created the masculine card at the top of this post using more paper that I got FREE during Sale-A-Bration.  It fits a C6 envelope (although it is a bit bulky) and only requires A4 size cardstock.

If you'd like to create one of these gorgeous Concertina Pop Up cards using A4 cardstock, you'll find my dimensions and instructions HERE. (Edit: But please don't make any alterations to it -  I can't remove anything that other people add).

If you have any questions or comments - I'd love to hear from you.

Double Diamond Pop Up Card with Tutorial links

Fun fold: Double Diamond Pop Up Cards

Hello again ... it's been a while!!!  I do apologise.

Whilst I have been rather quiet for the last year, I have still been thinking about you and I've still been creating in my craft room from time to time - I just didn't feel I had much to share.

However, I was really pleased with the way these Double Diamond Pop Up cards turned out.  I used the very pretty Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper (162977) that I received FREE in Sale-A-Bration.

The inspiration for the card fold came from Sam Calcott who was in turn inspired by Julie from Trenouths Card Creations.  I used Sam's very easy to follow video but changed the dimensions so that I could use my A4 cardstock.

Sam's card folds down to a 6" square and mine fold down to a 5 3/4" square.  If, like me, you tend to keep A4 cardstock rather than 12"x 12" but would like to make a Double Diamond Pop Up card click HERE for my instructions.

If you have any questions or comments - I'd love to hear from you.

I have a couple more things to share, so I promise I'll be back again soon!

'Til then, happy crafting

This Sailing Home 3D Cube Pop Up card is a suitable masculine card

I have cheated a little bit with this entry.  I do believe it's a good masculine card, however, I actually made it as a Bon Voyage card for my wonderful Stampin' Up team member and friend, Satomi Wellard who is about to call a yacht in the Mediterranean home for an adventurous new phase in her life!

The closed 3D Cube Card fits into a square envelope

This fabulous fold is called a 3D Cube Pop Up Card and I learned how to do it from this video tutorial by the very talented Jay and Barry at Mitosu Crafts.  Jay also made a special box for the card but, as I was sending it through the mail, I just popped mine into a square envelope.

I hope you've enjoyed the card you've seen here on my blog today.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer.

World Of Good Theatre Card : A Masculine Fun Fold card

www.thecraftythinker.com.au, Theatre Fold Fun Fold Card, Masculine Card, World of Good Suite, Stampin Up
The greeting in this Theatre Fold card is from the coordinating Beautiful World stamp set

This is such a gorgeous fun fold - easy but fairly impressive.  I followed a tutorial by Nicky Nack's Papercrafts which I found easy to follow and I can't get enough of her gorgeous Welsh accent!

For this masculine version (I'll share a more feminine version next time), I used the World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper and coordinating Beautiful World Dies.

All these products are in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue and will become available on 3rd June.

Beautiful Day Butterfly - Fun Fold Easel Card

This birthday card is for a young great-niece - I thought she'd like a colourful butterfly.

An Easel Fold card featuring the butterfly image from the Beautiful Day stamp set
I stamped the butterfly image onto Window Sheet (acetate) with Stazon ink and then used some Stampin' Blends alcohol markers to colour it in .... on the back.  As it turned out, I decided it needed a piece of white cardstock behind the image to make it pop more and to obscure the easel fold.

To make the easel fold - I cut my base card to 11" x 5 1/2" and scored at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2".
A side view of the easel fold
I used the method shown at the bottom of this post to "resize" the Stitched Rectangle with the greeting.  The butterflies were cut with the Butterfly Beauty dies from Lovely Lipstick cardstock and adhered to So Saffron cardstock before trimming around the butterflies.  I find this quicker and easier than paper piecing when I'm time-poor.

I coloured Basic Rhinestone Jewels with the alcohol markers so that they would match.

I wanted to ensure that I cut identical frames for the back and front of the piece and so I used some old washi tape to keep them in the correct position, allowing for multiple identical frames to be cut.

I use my cutting mat to help align the dies for my frame

I then use washi tape to keep the frame in the correct position for cutting multiple identical frames

I also made a variant of this card for a sympathy card.  This butterfly is stamped onto vellum but I still added the piece of white behind it to make it pop more.

Looking back at these photos has been really interesting.  Believe it or not, both cards were made with the same Bermuda Bay cardstock but I photographed one with my phone and the other with my Canon camera - they look quite different.  I do apologise for that!

To make the die cut narrower, I positioned the die as required and then placed the top cutting plate only over the area to be cut - as shown in the image below. TIP:  I "wiggle" the die gently until I can feel the blade of the die fitting into the die cut to match what has already been cut.

Lovely Lily Pad Dutch Door Fun Fold

Using the Lovely Lily Pad stamp set and Lily Impressions papers to make a Dutch Door fun fold card
These products are FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration
Just when I thought I'd seen and tried every fun fold, I discovered the Dutch Door fold!  It's a very simple fold but I did make it a bit more complicated for myself that it needed to be!

I stamped and watercoloured an image from the Lovely Lily Pad set that's FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration and paired it with the coordinating Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper - also Free in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue!

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #saleabration #funfold #dutchdoorfold #lovelylilypad , Sale-A-Bration, Lovely Lily Pad, Fun Fold, Dutch Door fold, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
With this fun fold, only half of the interior of the card is available to write on -
this could be an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on how much you like to write in cards!
I cut a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock to 8 1/2" x 4 1/4" and folded it in half at 4 1/4".

I then scored the front at 2 1/8" only as far as the fold.

The next step would usually be to cut away this top section of the front of the card and, after decorating, adding a piece that's attached to the remaining card front but sticks up over the decorated top half of the card interior.

But I experimented with half cutting a circle.  I've included a picture of the method below but I wouldn't really recommend it because I had to fold the card over the top cutting plate and it did do a little damage to the card that's noticeable if you know what you're looking for.

Lastly, I adhered the lily pad to the front of the card, lining it up with the half circle I'd already formed.

I  positioned the top cutting plate so that it only covered the top half of the die (ie only as far down as the score line)
But I had to fold the 2nd page of the card over the top cutting plate to avoid also cutting it
