This Sailing Home 3D Cube Pop Up card is a suitable masculine card

I have cheated a little bit with this entry.  I do believe it's a good masculine card, however, I actually made it as a Bon Voyage card for my wonderful Stampin' Up team member and friend, Satomi Wellard who is about to call a yacht in the Mediterranean home for an adventurous new phase in her life!

The closed 3D Cube Card fits into a square envelope

This fabulous fold is called a 3D Cube Pop Up Card and I learned how to do it from this video tutorial by the very talented Jay and Barry at Mitosu Crafts.  Jay also made a special box for the card but, as I was sending it through the mail, I just popped mine into a square envelope.

I hope you've enjoyed the card you've seen here on my blog today.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer.

Sailing Home Anchor Under The Waves - a masculine card

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #masculinecard #sailinghome , Masculine Card, Sailing Home, Seasonal Layers, Stormy Seas and Anchor, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
A masculine card featuring stormy waves and anchor
created with the Seasonal Layers dies and Sailing Home Bundle
I made this card for my wonderful husband who has been my rock throughout our marriage but especially during my recent illness.

He has helped me navigate through the very turbulent waters of cancer diagnosis and treatment and has been my anchor when I felt I was being swept away and about to drown in my sea of fears, anxiety and emotions.

The design inspiration for the anchor and waves came from a beautiful, sponged and inked card by the very talented Michelle Zindorf.  I've used cardstock and ribbon instead of inks.

I cut the waves from White and Blueberry Bushel cardstock and Vellum with one of the Seasonal Layers dies.  I stamped and cut out the anchor using the Sailing Home Bundle.

TIPS:

  • I used my Stamparatus to stamp the anchor so that I could keep inking until I was happy with the depth of colour.
  • It doesn't show in the photograph but I also added a few highlights using the Silvery Shimmer Ink.  Since I haven't yet purchased a refill - I tapped some ink onto a spare acrylic block and added a small spritz of Stampin' Mist cleaner which I used to dilute the ink to a suitable consistency for application with a small paintbrush.

I twisted the Copper Trim so that it was more like rusty anchor chain than ribbon.

I cut out the word "Thanks" with one of the Ornate Frames and added a couple of the Holiday Rhinestones.  The other greeting is from the Beautiful Promenade stamp set and is stamped directly onto the card front.

Thank you for visiting.

Sailing Home Across The Birch

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #birch #sailinghome #masculinecard #cardmaking , Birch, Sailing Home, Masculine Card, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The Birch stamp is used for water in this seaside scene
Adaptation and versatility - two of my favourite words when it comes to crafting.  That's because they usually hang out with creativity and good value!  It's also fun to find new ways to use what we have in our craft rooms.

For this card, I used the Birch background stamp in a different way.  Using white ink on the Pacific Point cardstock gives an impression of water.  I inked up the stamp and then pressed  half of the cardstock (with even pressure) down onto it which provides a horizon.

I stamped the yacht and lighthouse onto Whisper White cardstock with Memento black ink and then coloured with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  The coordinating Smooth Sailing dies in the bundle (buy as a bundle for 10% saving) made it very easy to cut them out before adhering to the card front.

I also stamped the birds with same black ink.

I'd like to thank the very creative Jay Soriano of Mitosu Crafts for the idea of using the seaweed die to create waves.  I like using a darker colour towards the bottom (or foreground) to provide balance to the scene.

Thank you for visiting.

Combining the Noble Peacock paper and foil with Sailing Home Bundle for a masculine card
For something a little different and glamourous (yes, masculine cards can still have glamour!), I've also used the glorious Noble Peacock papers, Noble Peacock Rhinestones and some of the Noble Peacock Foil Sheets.

The greeting is from the First Frost stamp set and I used the Banner Triple Punch to cut the banner tag.

The sketch  for the SDBH Blog Hop
Our theme this month is to create a masculine project using the sketch provided (why don't you have a go too?).  I liked it so much that I made a feminine version that I'll share will you tomorrow.

A masculine card featuring a yacht and vegetation from the Sailing Home Bundle
My base card is Mossy Meadow with a layer of Whisper White followed by my card front, made from Come Sale Away Designer Series Paper cut diagonally and attached to Old Olive card stock.  I realised after I'd finished the card and taken the photo that the Old Olive wasn't the best choice, as it doesn't show up very well against the designer paper - but it was too late by then!

To the card front, I added swirls of both of the ribbons included in the Magnolia Lane Ribbon pack and sea foliage cut from both Old Olive and Mossy Meadow card using the Smooth Sailing Dies that form part of the Sailing Home Bundle (remember, buying the bundle gives a saving of 10%).

I cut the largest label from Mossy Meadow card using one of the dies in the Wild Rose die set.  To that I added the smaller label cut from Come Sail Away paper with one of the Smooth Sailing Dies.

I stamped the yacht with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured it with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers before cutting it out with the coordinating die from the Smooth Sailing dies.

Last, but certainly not least for this bling-lover, I added some of the Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

Thank you for visiting.  I hope you enjoyed this card.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer - please see the list below and click on the next person on the list to hop through all of the people to see all of our projects.  You don't want to miss any!

Sailing Home Bundle: A Lighthouse and Two Yachts

This is a birthday card for my wonderful husband who I love to bits!  He really is my true north as well as my anchor in life.  He's always supportive and always there for me.  Right now he's supporting me through cancer diagnosis and treatment and I don't know how I would cope without his positivity and love.

It's just a shame that he gets seasick and doesn't like sailing!
#thecraftythinker #comesailaway #stampinup #cardmaking #rubberstamping , Come Sail Away Bundle, Lakeside dies, Masculine card, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
A masculine birthday card featuring elements from the Sailing Home Bundle and Lakeside die set

The base card is one of the new In-Colours called Seaside Spray.  On top of the white layer there is a piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock cut out with one of the Stitched Rectangle dies.  This was a leftover piece that was knocking around on my table.

I added some more Seaside Spray cut out with one of the dies in the Lakeside die set.  All the other nautical elements are from the Sailing Home Bundle.  The yachts were stamped with Stazon onto Seaside Spray cardstock and then coloured with Real Red and Whisper White Craft Ink.  The lighthouse and compass were stamped onto white card.

I stamped the birds with Whisper White Craft ink and the used a very small brush and some more of the white ink to add touches of highlight.

I cut the greeting out with dies in the Lakeside set using this method to extend the length a little.  I also used my guillotine to trim a tiny little bit from the top and bottom of the Blueberry Bushel label.

Thank you for visiting.
