Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Case A Card: Poppy Moments & Stones

Image may contain: text
Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.  Please continue around the Hop by clicking on the next person in the list below.

Our theme this month is Case A Card.
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #saleabration #sdbh #minicatalogue2020 #peacefulpoppies , Poppy Moments dies, Mini Catalogue, Painted Labels Dies, Sale-A-Bration, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Put together a few flowers with the Poppy Moments Dies and the card almost makes itself!
My card is CASEd from samples on page 27 of the new Mini Catalogue.
Excerpt from Stampin' Up! Mini Catalogue 2020
My card base and poppy outlines are Poppy Parade cardstock (seemed appropriate!).  The foliage is cut from Mossy Meadow cardstock and Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper.  The poppy petals  are also cut from Perennial Essence paper.

The Basic Black swirl is cut with one of the Painted Labels Dies also part of the Peaceful Poppies Suite.

Having treated myself to both of the gorgeous bundles in the Painted Poppies Suite, I could choose the stunning Power of Hope Bundle FREE from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue and I used the Stone 3D Embossing Folder from that bundle to emboss the Sahara Sand layer.

A sprinkling of Peaceful Poppies Sequins adds an element of glitz and glamour.

Thank you for visiting.  I hope you enjoyed this card.  You're currently visiting Stephanie Fischer, please see the list below and click on the next person on the list to hop through all of the projects - you don't want to miss any!

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Card / Project Kits - Looking Up Variation: Z- Fold card

Image may contain: text that says "Stampin Dreams BLOG HOP"
Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.

Our theme this month is to highlight card or project kits.  I couldn't wait to get my hands on the Looking Up card kit when it came out (Annual Catalogue).  I love the designs and how easy they are to put together - perfect for a beginner but still enjoyable and rewarding for the avid cardmaker.

The Looking Up card kit - find it on page 202 of the Annual Catalogue or in the Beginner Brochure
And, having made several in the standard way, I've created my own card using some of the elements - actually it's a CASE of a card I made several years ago!

The aircraft from the Looking Up card kit is attached to the acetate in this Z-Fold card
The Z-Fold card looks quite impressive but is, in fact, super-easy to make.  I've included dimensions and instructions for the fold at the end of the post.

This is how the Z-Fold card looks when closed
Having cut the three panels of Whisper White cardstock to size, I used some home-made masks to quickly sponge the cloudy sky and grass.

I cut and folded the piece of Window Sheet Acetate and fixed it into position then glued the sponged panels into place.  I had to cut a slit into the large panel to accommodate the acetate but it doesn't really show.

Then I attached the trees to the card and the aircraft the acetate.

The best part is that this card still fits into the matching envelope that forms part of the kit!

Z-Fold card created with some sponging and elements from the Looking Up card kit
FACTS AND FIGURES:
  • Cut the Mint Macaron cardstock to 4.5" x 11"
  • Score at 5.5" and 2.75" and fold
  • Cut a piece of Window Sheet acetate to 1" x 11" and score at 5.5" and 2.75"
  • The longer length of acetate attaches to the front (smaller) section of card and the shorter piece attaches to the inside (larger) section of card.
  • The sponged panels measure 2 5/8" x 4 1/8" (two of these) and 51/4" x 4 1/8"

TIPS:
  • I chose to trim off a little piece of acetate at each end in order to ensure that it would be completely covered by the sponged panel
  • Keep your masks for use in future projects

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Favourite Designer Series Paper

Image may contain: text that says "Stampin Dreams BLOG HOP"
Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.

Our theme this month is our favourite Designer Series Paper (DSP) and I had a really hard time choosing!

I love the Perennial Essence papers but also the Noble Peacock.  So I sort of combined the two by using the Perennial Essence and the Noble Peacock Foil Sheets!
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #sdbh #simplecard , Wild Rose dies, Perennial Essence DSP, Simple Card, Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The perennial Essence papers are so beautiful, very little else is required to create a gorgeous card!

The sketch  for the SDBH Blog Hop
Our theme this month is to create a masculine project using the sketch provided (why don't you have a go too?).  I liked it so much that I made a feminine version that I'll share will you tomorrow.

A masculine card featuring a yacht and vegetation from the Sailing Home Bundle
My base card is Mossy Meadow with a layer of Whisper White followed by my card front, made from Come Sale Away Designer Series Paper cut diagonally and attached to Old Olive card stock.  I realised after I'd finished the card and taken the photo that the Old Olive wasn't the best choice, as it doesn't show up very well against the designer paper - but it was too late by then!

To the card front, I added swirls of both of the ribbons included in the Magnolia Lane Ribbon pack and sea foliage cut from both Old Olive and Mossy Meadow card using the Smooth Sailing Dies that form part of the Sailing Home Bundle (remember, buying the bundle gives a saving of 10%).

I cut the largest label from Mossy Meadow card using one of the dies in the Wild Rose die set.  To that I added the smaller label cut from Come Sail Away paper with one of the Smooth Sailing Dies.

I stamped the yacht with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured it with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers before cutting it out with the coordinating die from the Smooth Sailing dies.

Last, but certainly not least for this bling-lover, I added some of the Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

Thank you for visiting.  I hope you enjoyed this card.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer - please see the list below and click on the next person on the list to hop through all of the people to see all of our projects.  You don't want to miss any!

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Annual Catalogue Sneak Peek - Butterfly Wishes

Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.

Our theme this month is to provide sneak peeks from the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue, which takes effect from 3rd June.

I've chosen to use the Butterfly Wishes stamp set Stitched Nested Labels and Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper.
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #sneakpeek2019annualcatalogue #butterflywishes #stitchednestinglabels #cardmaking , 2019 Annual Catalogue, Sneak Peek, Perennial Essence, Butterfly Wishes, Stitched Nesting Labels, Stampin' Up! Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The beautiful new Perennial Essence paper and Butterfly Wishes stamp set

I inked up the entire stamp with Blushing Bride ink and then added Mint Macaron and Soft Suede to the branches and leaves before stamping onto Whisper White cardstock.

TIP:  Breath heavily onto the inked stamp before stamping down onto the card.  The moisture in your "huff" will be sufficient to ensure that the ink is activated.
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #sneakpeek2019annualcatalogue #butterflywishes #stitchednestinglabels #cardmaking , 2019 Annual Catalogue, Sneak Peek, Perennial Essence, Butterfly Wishes, Stitched Nesting Labels, Stampin' Up! Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Give more depth to the butterfly by adding some lighter wings with Stampin' Dimensionals
I stamped the butterfly onto a scrap of Whisper White card using Cherry Cobbler and then, without re-inking, stamped again for a lighter shade.

I then cut out the entire darker butterfly and just the wings of the lighter one which I adhered to the darker butterfly using glue and bits of Stampin' Dimensionals before gluing the finished butterfly to the cardfront.

If you live in Australia and don't currently have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, contact me for your copy of the new catalogue.

The following products will be available for purchase from my online store from 3rd June 2019:
Stitched Nested Labels
Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper
