Fun fold: Concertina Pop Up Card suitable for A4 cardstock
Featuring Trusty Toolbox paper (162978)

Hello again!

I made a series of Concertina Pop Up cards which I thought I'd share with you.

I first became aware of this impressive-looking fun fold while perusing Sam Calcott's tutorial videos.  I really admire her work and never fail to find inspiration from her.  So, following her clear instructions, I made the following card using one of the paper packs that I got FREE in Sale-A-Bration.

The resulting card might just be one of my all-time favourite makes.

However, it didn't fit two of my criteria: it didn't fit into one of my standard envelopes and it required 12" x 12" cardstock for the concertina section, which is why my concertina section is a different colour - I had to use something from my odds and ends collection!  I think it works though.

I then made a card using the dimensions at Maria's Crafting Corner that inspired Sam Calcott but used Sam's methodology for the extra pop up dimension.  Whilst smaller, it still didn't fit my criteria.

So I altered the dimensions to suit my needs and created the masculine card at the top of this post using more paper that I got FREE during Sale-A-Bration.  It fits a C6 envelope (although it is a bit bulky) and only requires A4 size cardstock.

If you'd like to create one of these gorgeous Concertina Pop Up cards using A4 cardstock, you'll find my dimensions and instructions HERE. (Edit: But please don't make any alterations to it -  I can't remove anything that other people add).

If you have any questions or comments - I'd love to hear from you.

Glimmery Snowflake Wishes - Non-traditional Christmas Card

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #snowflakewishes #xmascard #cardmaking , Snowflake Wishes Bundle, Glittery Black Christmas card, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
A glimmery, glittery, over-the-top black & silver Christmas card featuring the Snowflake Wishes Bundle

I suddenly realised the other day that the Christmas cards that I'd been making so far lacked my usual seasonal bling.  I think I may have over-compensated!

However, despite all the glitter and bling, this is at heart a very easy card to make!

I have to apologise though - until I started preparing my list of products used I had not noticed the retirement of the Silver Glimmer Paper - a sad loss!  If I were to make this card again, I would substitute Silver Foil Sheet for the Silver Glimmer Paper.

A sympathy card featuring the Poppy Moments Dies

As I mentioned on Friday, last week I found myself in need to two sympathy cards.  This is the second.

Using the dies and embossing folder makes this a very quick and simple card but I'm pleased with the result.

I resisted the temptation to fill the top right corner with some bling to keep it nice and flat for its long journey to England.

Thank you for visiting.

Snowflake Wishes Bundle - First Christmas Card of the Year!

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #xmascard #sneakpeekminicatalogue #snowflakewishes #plushpoinsettia #cardmaking , Snowflake Wishes Bundle, Plush Poinsettia paper, Sneak peek Mini Catalogue 2020, Xmas Card, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
My first Christmas card made this year!  Snowflake Wishes Bundle and Plush Poinsettia paper

I'm normally eager to start making my Christmas cards in July - I can showcase the lovely goodies in the new "Holiday" catalogue while building up the stock of cards that I need for December.

I'll be honest with you though, I've never felt less full of the Christmas spirit!  I love the products that I've received from the new catalogue and am really excited to share them with everyone and that's the only thing getting me into my craft room to make Christmas cards at the moment.  Perhaps I'll have to make an effort to somehow ingest some Christmas spirit ..... now you're talking!

Now for my second confession .... I really fluffed up on my first use of that snowflake sprinkled frame!  However, I pressed on regardless because I didn't want to waste any of that gorgeous Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper!  Never mind - it may not be perfect but it's still festive!

The base card is Pretty Peacock and I added a layer of the stunning Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper.  This particular piece doesn't feature flowers or leaves, so it's pretty versatile.

I added some of the new (and stunning) Iridescent Pearls as well as some Adhesive Backed Snowflakes.  Together with the new Snowflake Splendor Ribbon, they soften the card and ramp up the Christmas sparkle.

The products in the new August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue will be available for purchase from 4th August.

The products that I have used are:
Snowflake Wishes Bundle (comprising coordinating stampset and dies)
Snowflake Splendor Ribbon
Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper
Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper
Iridescent Pearls
Adhesive Backed Snowflakes

If you live in Australia and would like to receive a copy of the catalogue - please contact me.

This card provides sneak peeks of products in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue
I haven't included a greeting, so it's multipurpose, but I'm thinking it's very suitable for a Sympathy Card.
I'm completely head over heels for the Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper!  Making cards with it is so simple and, well .... addictive!  The pieces all pop out really easily - no cutting involved.  There are card fronts, greenery accents and decorative label bases.  One side is gold and the other is white (which can be coloured for example by sponging) - so they're really versatile.

The Forever Gold pieces don't really need much, if anything else to create a lovely card but I really went to town here so that I could show you several new things on the one card.

Onto my Basic Gray base card I placed a layer that is embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.  I can see myself using this folder a lot because it's so versatile!

Then I attached the Forever Gold wreath by placing a few small dots of Multipurpose glue behind the more solid leaves.  Then I added some more foliage in a design inspired by a pre-Christmas afternoon flower arranging workshop!

The black foliage was cut with the new Forever Flourishing dies which are also available as part of a bundle with the coordinating Forever Fern stamp set.

The little grey flower was cut with one of the smaller dies included in the Many Layered Blossoms die set with is also available as a bundle with the coordinating Blossoms In Bloom stamp set.  At the centre of the flower is one of the new 2020-2022 In Colour Enamel Dots - this one is Bumblebee.

I hope the project you've seen here on my blog today has inspired you, brightened your day and whetted your appetite for the amazing new catalogue!

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Special Guest: Sarah Berry

Image may contain: text
Welcome to the Crazy Crafters' Blog Hop with our Special Guest stamper, Sarah Berry - we are thrilled to have Sarah join us this month and so excited to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) any project that has been created by her.

Whether you are starting the blog hop here at my blog, Stephanie Fischer - The Crafty Thinker, or have come from the person before me, be sure to click on the person listed under me further down the page to continue your journey through the blog hop.

To the left is Sarah's gorgeous card that I chose to CASE.  It was a very difficult choice - I found so many of her cards that I admire!  I love the neutral colours in this card that form the perfect backing to the pop of colour.  I also love the layout and simplicity and the background of repeating stamped images ... well, the list of what I like about it could go and on!

I decided to take the basic premise of Sarah's card and make a Christmas card using the Beautiful Baubles bundle (Beautiful Baubles stamp set and Detailed Baubles dies sold together at a saving of 10%).

A neutral coloured Christmas card with a pop of colour
Sarah used the lovely soft, warm neutral, Sahara Sand for her romantic card.  I chose the slightly cooler Granite Gray to go with the Christmas theme.

I was gratified by how quickly and easily the card came together.  I probably spent the most time tying the little knot in the Gold Cord and then keeping it in place with the application of some glue.  So I made another four in a variety of colours.  In order to keep them simple, easy to post and with minimised product cost, I omitted the Gold Cord and and Metallic Pearls and I'm still happy with the result.  I'll be making quite a few more of these as I need to make a lot of Christmas cards in a short space of time.
