Magnolia Blooms on Country Floral

I was so inspired by the sketch for yesterday's Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop that I made another, feminine, version.

This card features the Magnolia Blooms stamp set and Country Floral 3D embossing folder.

Having embossed the Basic Gray card, I gently swiped over it with my Versamark pad which created the deeper shade on the raised embossing.  I then cut it diagonally (in keeping with the sketch) and arranged it onto a piece of Petal Pink card.  The base card is Petal Pink with a layer of Gray Granite.

The banners are off-cuts of Gray Granite cardstock.  The ends were trimmed with the help of the Banner Triple Punch.

Using Petal Pink ink, I stamped the image onto a small leftover square of Petal Pink cardstock.  To make things a little easier for my ageing eyes, I used Blackberry Bliss and Pretty Peacock Stampin' Write markers to reinforce the lines on the leaves and the flower centre.  Then I used Stampin' Blends alcohol markers to colour the image (Rococo Rose, Petal Pink, Mint Macaron, Pretty Peacock, Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss).

The greeting is included in the Magnolia Blooms stamp set but I rearranged it into a linear formation.  To do this, I used a Basic Gray Stampin' Write Marker to ink only the word "Thank" and stamped it.  Having cleaned and dried the stamp, I used the same marker to ink the word "you" and stamped it next to the first word.  Easy!

Country Floral Gold on Black Duo

These cards form the other half of the Country Floral Black & Gold Quartet that I introduced in Wednesday's post.

They use the same process but with different materials.  This time around I used the Black Foil Sheet and gold heat embossing

Gold heat embossing on Black Foil Sheet.  You could also use plain Basic Black cardstock

Tip:  The shine on the black foil comes from a sort of plastic coating which has a tendency to blister under the heat gun.  Keep the heat a bit further away than usual and keep it moving .

You could also use Basic Black cardstock, gold heat emboss in the same way and then (if you're after shine) finish with a layer of clear heat embossing.  I haven't tried it myself but it feels like it should work.

This card has a shortened version of one of the Stitched Label dies

The card above features a very small label made with one of the Stitched Label dies.   This is how I made it.

The first step in the process of reducing the length of the die cut

For the first pass through the Big Shot, position the top cutting plate over only the first small part of the die.  This will be the result

The result after the first run through the Big Shot

For the second pass through the Big Shot, place the die according to the size you require and ensure it lines up with the first cut.   If you gently wiggle the die, you'll feel when it has settled itself into position.

Place the top cutting plate only over the part of the die you wish to cut - avoiding the part that was cut in the first pass.

And you'll end up with a shorter version of the die cut.

So here's the full Quartet of black and gold embossed cards.

Country Floral Silver and Black

To start this card, I embossed some Basic Black cardstock with the Country Floral Embossing Folder (until 31 March FREE with a $90 purchase!).

The photo does not do justice to the silvery shimmer in this card

I then gently swiped a Whisper White ink pad over the embossed piece and let it dry.  The white ink takes a while to dry, so this is an ideal opportunity to work on another project, go shopping or do whatever tasks you have on your to do list!

Once the ink was dry, I used a sponge dauber to gently add some Frost White ink to the flowers and foliage with the deepest embossing.  I did this a couple of times.  Try as I might - I can't get the shimmer to show up in my photos!

Then I cut my piece in half to make two cards.  Each piece has a silver frame and is adhered to a black base card.

The sentiments are from the Eastern Beauty stamp set.  I punched them out with a 1" circle punch and then added a layer of black card cut with the smallest of the Layering Circles dies.

The foliage for the thank you card is cut from Silver Foil with dies from the Butterfly Beauty set and the foliage for the other card is punched with the Sprig and Leaf punches.  Some of the foliage is sponged with Stazon Jet Black ink.
