Free As A Bird with Delicate Lace - A Masculine Card

I set myself the task of making a masculine card using the Free As A Bird stamp set and came up with this card.  It's also inspired by "my little buddy" - see below for the explanation.

Using the Delicate Lace Die, I cut a section from the Basic Black card front.  I then used the same die to cut some Whisper White card and an offcut of Garden Lane Designer Series Paper and glued the pieces into position.

The bird is coloured with Crumb Cake and Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends alcohol markers and then fussy cut before adhering to the card front.

The greeting (from Good Morning Magnolia) is white heat embossed.

The base card is Gray Granite.

Just recently I rescued a Noisy Miner that was being bullied by a group of others and (having crashed into the windows a few times) ended up floating  face down in the pool, wings spread.  I waited for my husband to come home to help me take it to WIRES and tried placing it in a box (as they suggested) but, as it turned out, it would only settle while sitting on my hand.  It had a sleep, preened and chirped occasionally,  It was really very sweet.  My little buddy for the afternoon!

Delightfully Detailed Watercolour

I made this card using the remaining piece of watercolour background left over from this card.  It's a CASE of one of my previous cards because I love the combination of watercolour background with a layer of the delicate Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper.

The base card is Coastal Cabana to which are added layers of Gorgeous Grape and Very Vanilla.

I glued some Delightfully Detailed laser cut paper to the watercolour background and trimmed away the edges.

I cut some Grapefruit Grove cardstock with one of the Delicate Lace Edgelits and added it to the bottom of the focal piece followed by some Gorgeous Grape ribbon and matching Glitter Enamel Dots.

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop: Theme - Birthday

Image may contain: text

Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  This month our theme is birthdays.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.  I hope you enjoy my card.

This theme is very timely for me as in my family, a lot of birthdays fall in June! This card is for my son - I'm hoping the graphic look of the candles and hat as well as the black and grey colour scheme sufficiently offsets the lace edge that I couldn't resist using!

A youthful masculine - ish card featuring the Broadway Bound paper, Delicate Lace Edgelits and Subtle embossing folder

I cut an A4 piece of Basic Black cardstock to 11.5" x  6" and scored the long side at 4" and 8" which left a third section of 3.5", the edge of which I cut with one of the Delicate Lace Edgelits.

I attached a piece of the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper to that piece and a narrow strip of Gold Foil Sheet.  I cut some black and gold ovals with the Stitched Shapes dies and added a birthday hat that I fussy cut from another piece of that beautiful paper.

Keeping the inside of the card clean and crisp with a simple yet elegant colour scheme

To decorate the first flap, I ran a piece of Gray Granite cardstock through the big shot in the the new Subtle embossing folder which leaves an elegant and "subtle" linen look.  I also added a little offcut of the DSP.

One of the inside flaps is decorated with another piece of the DSP and in the centre is a piece of Gray Granite on which I gold heat embossed the birthday greeting.

As a bit of a last minute thing, I added a black and gold frame to the inside to which I later added a hand-written note.

The black and gold frame is made with the Foliage Frame Framelits

I used the Foliage Frame Framelits to cut the black layer of the frame and some of the smaller dies in the set to cut the gold foliage which I stuck to the frame.  I hid my mess with a circle of Gray Granite cardstock which I cut with one of the Layering Circles dies.
