Cake and Brusho

This card is included in the Crazy Crafters Team Highlights.  Click here to see the full array of wonderful projects and vote for your favourites.

In a previous post I shared a background that I made with Brusho Crystal Colour and a baby wipe on watercolour paper.

I made the background for this card at the same time, using the same method but on Glossy White Cardstock.

The background is made with Brusho Crystal Colour swished onto Glossy card with a baby wipe
The base card is Dapper Denim with a layer of Marina Mist cardstock.

I fussy cut elements from a piece of the gorgeous Sweet Soiree Designer Series Paper and layered some of them onto a decorative circle cut from Dapper Denim cardstock with one of the Eastern Medallions dies and a Layering Circle Framelit.

I also added a little silver flourish cut with one of the Swirly Snowflake dies.

Thank you for visiting.

Falling In Love Wedding - Double Gate Fold

 Image may contain: text
http://www.craftykylie.com/2017/04/kylies-international-blog-highlights.htmlThis card is included in Kylie Bertucci's International Highlights.  The top ten winners will be part of an international blog hop - so we're all keen to do well!  Our theme for this highlight is Wedding.

First of all, I'd like to thank my fellow Crazy Crafter, Sarah Burnett for inspiring me with the cards she made for our last Blog Hop together!  Her beautiful use of the Double Gate Fold, Falling In Love Designer Series Paper and Bloomin' Heart Thinlits popped into my mind when I was asked to make a special wedding card.

So here is my CASE of Sarah's card.
Double Gate Fold, Wedding Card, Bloomin' Heart, Flourishing Phrases Bundle, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The tiny pearls add a hint of luxury and seem fitting for a wedding card

I reduced the size of the heart by using a heart-shaped framelit to cut a piece from it.  I glued it to some Sahara Sand card, also cut with the same framelit.  I decorated the heart with little flowers cut with dies from the Bloomin' Heart Thinlits, tiny pearls and sequins from the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit.  Then I glued it to the middle of the Very Vanilla belly band.

The belly band is finished with a couple of Sahara Sand hearts made with the Sweetheart Punch, more sequins and tiny pearls.

The Falling in Love paper is so elegant and with the flowers and hints of lace just perfect for a wedding

Inside the card is a Very Vanilla label, cut with one of the Lots of Labels framelits and cut to size so that it doesn't show when the card is closed.  The greetings are stamped in black and come from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set.

Double Gate Fold cards are so quick and simple to make yet create such intricate cards.

The flowers in the middle of the card were cut from Sahara Sand card with the Flourish thinlits.  I used the individual flower thinlit  for one side and, because I wanted them to seem to curve towards each other, I used the large thinlit for the other side and trimmed it to size.  I added a couple of tiny pearls to each flower.

By purchasing the Flourishing Phrases Stamp set and Flourish Thinlits as a bundle, I saved 10%.

To decorate the space at the top of the card, I stamped the chain of hearts from the Sealed With Love stamp set with Versamark onto Sahara Sand card.  This was sufficient to provide the outlines for the hearts when I cut them out with the matching die from the Love Notes Framelits.

Bloomin' Heart Wedding Card

Stampin Up, #thecraftythinker, wedding card, Bloomin Love, Fancy Frost, Bloomin Heart, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator
Mostly neutral colours makes for an elegant wedding card

I made this card for the wedding we're attending tomorrow, using several layers of the Bloomin' Love heart glued together.

The little flowers in Whisper White and Sahara Sand were cut with the same die set and stamped with the matching Bloomin' Love stamp set.  I found the easiest way to perfectly match the stamping and die-cutting was to cut first and then stamp with the help of my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (the opposite to what I would normally do!).  The centres are sequins from the new Fancy Frost collection in the new Holiday Catalogue with the addition of little pearls.

The side view of the card shows some of the depth
It's hard to see in the photograph but I've used three of the designs from the Fancy Frost Speciality Designer Series Paper and left them in their natural white state.

The banner was cut with the Duet Banner Punch with one Sahara Sand layer and the top layer is Pink Pirouette.  I stamped the greeting from the Seasonal Bells stamp set (in the new Holiday Catalogue) by selectively inking the part that I wanted to use with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.

Starfish wedding card

I was recently commissioned to make a wedding card and so my thoughts immediately turned to hearts, white on white, flowers and all the usual suspects.  So I was quite taken aback when I asked "is there anything particular you would like on the card?" and the response was "Yes, a starfish"!

It all made complete sense, once I discovered that it's for a beach wedding and there was a starfish on the invitation!  However, I found it challenging to think of a way to make a starfish romantic or wedding-y, so eventually I decided to add tropical-looking flowers!

This is the result.

So where is the starfish? !!

Sadly three of the four stamp sets that I used will be retired on 31st May, so if you like them - jump in quick to buy them before they're all sold out!

Back to the card!

I made the easel card from Crumb Cake cardstock.  It's not quite a square card, measuring 5" across and 6" high (when closed).  To achieve this, I cut a 12" x 5" piece of cardstock and scored the long side at 6" and 9".  I also cut a piece 6" x 5" for the front of the card.  For folding and gluing instructions, please see the foot of this post.  Line up the front of the card and adhere it to the glued panel.

I heat embossed the Corner Garden stamp in silver onto Whisper White cardstock and then watercoloured it with Crumb Cake ink.  Then I trimmed the panel to size and added a Basic Black mat 1/8" larger and adhered that to the front of the card.

I added the sentiment from the For the New Two set using Basic Black ink and watercoloured the little flowers with Crumb Cake ink.

I stamped the starfish (from Picture Perfect - the only set is continuing into the new Annual Catalogue) in Crumb Cake, fussy cut it and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake and Early Espresso.

The shells from the By the Tide stamp set received similar treatment - I also reinforced the shading by watercolouring with Early Espresso ink.

I only glued the front two legs of the starfish into place and added a dimensional towards the centre of the creature to encourage the remaining three legs to support the easel when the card is open.... a very obliging starfish!

The sentiment inside is also from the For the New Two set.
