Baby Bear Get Well card - complete with sling

With my son about to have his second shoulder reconstruction, I need a cheery card to brighten up his hospital room.

A masculine Get Well card for a young man having shoulder surgery
At 26, he may seem too old for Baby Bear, but he's still my baby!  And, the truth is, I could figure how to put a sling on this image!

I trimmed around the bear, lopped off its arm and hand cut a sling
I first stamped Baby Bear in Crumb Cake and Soft Suede ink and then did a little surgery of my own!  You have to be cruel to be kind sometimes - so I lopped off his arm!

The next step was to create a little bit of paw to stick out of the sling

It was easy to design and cut the sling .  Then, I cut a little bit from the arm to create the tip of a paw and glued it behind the sling.

The bear is almost complete.  Next step is to attach the sling to the body.
I cut a strap, narrower at the neck and slightly curved, glued it to the bear and then added the sling.

Healing Hugs with Bokeh background

Do you love the look of a bokeh background but don't want to get all inky?  Here's the answer:  Bokeh Dots background stamp!  There are two stamps in the set - the other provides a lovely starry night effect.

This is one of Stampin' Up's new Distinktive photorealistic stamps - just one stamp and it's done!  The only trick is to make sure that your ink pad is neither too juicy nor to dry - I think of them as Goldilocks stamps - the ink needs to be just right!

Bokeh Dots background with Healing Hugs for a get well card

I stamped this Bokeh Dot background with Rich Razzleberry ink and layered it onto my Thick Very Vanilla base card and layers.  The Rich Razzleberry layer has been embossed with the gorgeous Tufted 3D Dynamic Embossing Folder but, sadly, it desn't really show in my photo!

The flower is from the Healing Hugs stamp set and is also a Distinktive Stamp.  It looks gorgeous just inked with one colour but, for a little difference, I tapped it into Crushed Curry ink and then sponged some Mango Melody ink around the edges and a little towards the centre.

I then added a couple of elements from the Petals and More thinlits: the Crushed Curry lattice and the label for the greeting.

Stained Glass Window card

I made this for a much-loved cousin who is struggling with serious ill-health and hospitalisation.  I thought the soothing colours and church window design would be uplifting for his spirits.

Graceful Glass Designer Vellum coloured with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers for a Get Well Card

I coloured the piece of Graceful Glass Designer Vellum with a variety of Stampin' Blends alcohol markers - choosing to colour the front of the vellum for stronger, brighter colours.

Having adhered the vellum to a piece of Whisper White cardstock, I added it to the front of the card.

The card layers are Bermuda Bay, Night of Navy and Sahara Sand.

Thank you for visiting.
