Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Love

Image may contain: text
Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.  Please remember to click on the next person in the line up at the end of my post to continue enjoying all the wonderful projects in the hop.

Our theme this month is Love: Anniversaries, Valentines, Weddings

This is my slightly unorthodox Valentines card for my much-loved husband!  He has never owned a pair of cowboy boots  - but I'm sure he won't mind the artistic licence!  Inside I will write "Thank you for choosing to put your boots under my bed!"

Perhaps slightly unorthodox colours for a Valentine card but, I hope, masculine!

The base card is Basic Gray, followed by a layer of Lemon Lime Twist.  I embossed a 2" strip of Lemon Lime Twist card with one of the Petal Pair Embossing Folders and then swiped my Basic Gray ink pad across it.  I also sponged the edges with Basic Gray ink.

The image from the Country Livin' stamp set is stamped with Basic Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and coloured with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  I also added a small layer of Basic Gray cardstock.

Stampin' Dimensionals provide depth on this masculine Valentine Card

The hearts are cut with the Sweet & Sassy Framelits in Basic Gray and Smoky Slate card.  The smaller set of hearts is embellished with a Real Red Enamel Shape.  The greeting on the Whisper White heart is from the Graceful Garden stamp set and the tiny Real Red heart is cut with one of the dies in the Umbrella Weather set of Framelits.  The heart is edged with Real Red ink.

Thank you for visiting.  I hope you enjoyed this card.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer - please see the list below and click on the next person on the list to hop through all of the people to see all of our projects.  You don't want to miss any!

'Til next time!

Everyday Hero Masculine Valentine

This card is entered into this week's Crazy Crafters Project Highlights.  Click here to see all the great cards and vote for your favourites!

At this time of year, I'm kept busy making cards for my wonderful husband since our Anniversary is in February as well as Valentine's Day!

Just the other day I was trying to explain to him just how much he means to me and how grateful I am - every minute of every day - that we met and that he chose to marry me.  I thanked (and should do so much more often) for rescuing me from the life I would have had without him.

So, since my husband really is my Everyday Hero, I really had to use this stamp set for  him!

My husband is my Everyday Hero
The layers are Real Red, Basic Gray, Basic Black and Smoky Slate and I stamped directly onto the Smoky Slate layer, starting with the buildings which I stamped in Basic Black and then masked.  I then stamped some more buildings using Basic Gray ink to set them back a bit.

Everything else is stamped in Basic black and coloured with watercolour pencils and an aqua painter with the exception of the cape.  Since I wanted the cape to have enough strength of colour to pick up the Real Red card, I added some ink with a Stampin' Write Marker and Blender Pen.

So glad he hangs his cape with me
I haven't yet decided whether this card will be for Valentine's Day or our Anniversary but inside I will let him know how grateful I am that he chooses to hang his cape in our wardrobe!

Thank you for visiting.
'Til next time!

Going Global- Anniversary Card - Global Design Project 019

Very soon, my husband and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary - how quickly it seems to come around these days!

My family, including my much-loved husband, really are my world so my thoughts immediately turned to the wonderful new Going Global stamp set.

I had intended to enter this card into the Global Design Project challenge (#GDP019) whose theme was "Love" - however, I was not able to complete my blog in time!

That was unfortunate, but here it is now!  It's a twisted easel card.

I used the Naturals DSP stack on the front panel.

I found inspiration in the way the globe was heat embossed onto the DSP on this card by Shawn De Oliveria from Shawn Stamps.

This is the card all closed up.  The heart is punched with the Sweetheart punch.
