Pop of Pink Botanical Exploding Box Card

There's a standing joke in our family that I'm always away for my niece Erin's birthday - it's not intentional, it just seems to happen!  I was very relieved and pleased that this year, by the narrowest of margins, I shall be here to celebrate her 21st!

I haven't yet purchased the Melon Mambo Stitched Ribbon, so I had to raid my stash

I've used Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper and Washi Tape to create an exploding box card for her.

Melon Mambo is such a pretty colour and adds a touch of drama against black & white

The box is also decorated with flowers created with the Botanical Builder Framelits that have Enamel Shape centres.

The centrepiece can hold either a gift card or some folding money

The greetings are both from Designer Tin of Cards

I used the Classic Label Punch to create the slot to hold the Gift card or money

There is a little slot in the base of the card that will hold some birthday money.  The numbers were cut with the Large Numbers Framelits and stand up by themselves with the help of some strips of Window Sheet.  Like the black petals, the numbers have a touch of gold Wink of Stella on them.

I sponged a little Whisper White Craft ink onto the black leaves on the inside of the box.

Botanical Blooms Mambo - GDP038

This is my entry into this week's Global Design Project sketch challenge.

I used a gold and white sheet from the Pop of Pink DSP pack  and decided to combine it with Melon Mambo for no better reason than other sheets in the pack feature that colour!

I have also used Basic Black cardstock and ink and some Gold Foil Sheet.  I made the flowers with the Botanical Builder framelits and the banner is made with the Thoughtful Banner stamp set and matching Duet Banner Punch (available as a bundle to save 10%).  The Sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set.

I shaped the ends of the black and gold strips with one of the Lots of Labels framelits using this method.

Project Life - On Stage Sydney 2016 & Sneak Peeks

The Striped 12" x 12" Project Life album

I'm so excited about Project Life right now!  Why?  Because I started using it.

I had this album sitting in my craft room for AGES, waiting patiently for me to get my act together and do something with it .... anything!  

It's hard to say what had been stopping me - certainly I felt a bit intimidated but I'm not sure why- especially now I've tried it and realised how easy and quick it is and that there are no wrongs!

So my first foray into Project Life was this 12" x 12" album - it turned out to be the perfect way to keep all my memories, sneak peeks and product tests as well as all the beautiful swaps I came back with from Sydney On Stage!

The little red critter was a gift from one of my fellow Crazy Crafters and he's now very happily tethered to the ring binder.

This page is full of ideas that occurred to me as I was testing out some of the new products.  They may turn up on cards in the future.

This fish is half out of water!

I quite fond of this little fish.  I used the Bow Builder punch and Festive Flower Builder punch.  The waves are cut with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.  The background is the new In Colour, Flirty Flamingo. The DSP is from the new Pop of Pink pack.

Got to celebrate copper!

 Clearly, I had to celebrate the new copper embossing powder!  I just love it!  The zigzag is from Work of Art, the word "Hooray" is from the new set "Perfectly Wrapped", as are the flowers.  I hand wrote "For copper!" with a Versamark pen and copper embossed it.

This was a good place for me to start.  I learned to not overthink and just do something and it broke my inertia!

From here I went on to make an album for each of two of my nieces as birthday gifts and I'll show you those in the next few days or so.
