Beautiful You At The Beach

This card is entered into the Crazy Crafters Project Highlights this week.  Click here to see all the gorgeous cards and vote for your favourites.

I think I must dream about making cards because from time to time I wake up with the plan for a card.  Then the rush is on to get pen to paper before I forget it! (These days I almost have to lassoo thoughts as they pass through my cerebellum!).

This is a card I woke up thinking about.  It's for a dear friend who is making a sea change  to live by the beach in Victoria near her family.  Whilst I'll miss her sorely, it's a great move and I'm very happy for her.

Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper provides the beach background!
These stylish sisters are enjoying some time at the beach together.  They're both very sun-conscious with their hat and parasol.  They may be a little over-dressed but perhaps they've just come from a leisurely lunch!

The deck chair is from a new stamp set, called Colourful Seasons, that will be released in June in the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue.

The "neighbourhood" greeting is from the new stamp set, In The City and the "Congratulations" is from another new stamp set called Fabulous Flamingo.

I stamped the deck chair first and added a bit of shading with an Early Espresso Watercolour Pencil.  I then stamped, coloured (with watercolour pencils), dressed and fussy cut the two ladies from Beautiful You.  For the one by the chair, I trimmed off a little dress to fit her behind the chair and added a suggestion of legs with a Calypso Coral Watercolour Pencil.  I used the Early Espresso pencil again to add the shadow under the feet of the lady with the parasol.  I didn't feel inclined to fussy cut the tiny areas such as between arm and hat, so I simply coloured them in with the Bermuda Bay Watercolour Pencil.

This greeting from the new Eastern Beauty stamp set seemed very appropriate for the inside of  my card

Nailed The Move

The moment that I've been dreading arrived last weekend ... my son left the nest to share a house with some friends.  From the moment of his birth, my brain has known and accepted the inevitability of this day and is quietly celebrating for him, acknowledging the growth and development it will provide but my heart just can't get with the program!

I made this house-warming card for the trio of young men.

The inspiration for the layout came from an old sketch for a challenge run by the talented Dawn Olchefske: DOstampersstars Thursday Challenge DSC#082.

The square panel is elevated on Stampin' Dimensionals
He and his friends have already embarked on a steep learning curve and have been measuring, dismantling and reassembling things.

I chose some papers from the Serene Scenery paper that were masculine and also reminded me a little of textures that one might find around the house.

I chose the Nailed It Bundle partly because of its masculine appeal and also partly to celebrate the development of their home-maintenance skills!

The ruler, nuts & bolts and shaft of the screwdriver are all cut from Silver Foil Sheet.  The entire hammer and the handle of the screwdriver are stamped with Basic Black ink onto Whisper White card and coloured with Stampin' Write Markers.

I chose to hand-cut the hammer and screwdriver handle because, for this particular project, I didn't want a white edge around the images.

The greeting is from the Tasty Trucks stamp set - free during Sale-A-Bration with any order of $90.  Sale-A-Bration runs only until the end of this month - so make sure you take advantage before it's too late!

The nuts and bolts continue inside the card but this time they're stamped.

Inside the card, I used Basic Gray ink to stamp the nuts and bolts and then coloured them with a Smoky Slate marker.  I stamped the spanner onto Silver Foil Sheet with Jet Black Stazon ink and cut it out with the matching die before gluing it into position.

Lift Me Up Across The Miles

Once again, Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper has come to the rescue and halved the time needed to make this card!

It didn't take very long to cut out the elements of the large balloon and glue them together.  I wanted the smaller balloons to appear more distant, so I stamped the medium sized balloon with Basic Gray ink and the smallest one with Smoky Slate ink.  Both of them received a very hasty colour with some watercolour pencils and an Aqua Painter before cutting them out with the matching dies.

The Lift Me Up Bundle is so versatile and appealing!

I stamped the greeting in Basic Black ink, layered up the papers and then adhered the balloons, using Stampin' Dimensionals for the large balloon).

Serene Dragonfly

I've been so incredibly short of time recently that I've hardly been able to venture inside my craft room - just a sneeky five minutes here and there!  I was beginning to think that I'd have nothing for my post today and then I realised it was the ideal opportunity to showcase the versatility of the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper!

Serene Scenery, Dragonfly Dreams, Quick card, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Serene Scenery DSP is so beautiful and also helpful for those short on time!

It was so quick and easy to stamp the two images onto the designer paper and then adhere the layers together.

My tip for today - when you need a card but are short on time - Designer Series Paper is your best friend!

Thank you for visiting.
'Til next time!

Serene Scenery at High Tide

As soon as Christmas was over I started madly creating cards so that I could pre-schedule a few weeks' of blog posts during my holiday.  In the last few days, it's all got a bit hectic and I started worrying about my schedule - Designer Series Paper to the rescue!

A soothing summer day by the sea

For this card, I stamped and sponged over the lower part of a piece of paper from the Serene Scenery paper to create the scene.  I stamped and fussy cut the light house and glued it into position and then stamped some more grass over the lower part.

As soon as the I'd stamped the birds and the sentiment, it looked finished!  In a matter of moments I'd cut and glued the layers and the card was done!

A loving message for my husband!

I'm going to give this card to my wonderful husband, so I added a heart and greeting inside from the Sealed with Love stamp set.
