Still Night Owl - Not So Negative

A multipurpose card, suitable for either male or female recipient.  I just love that owl!

I really don't like to waste anything - especially paper and cardstock!  So after I'd cut out the branch from the Smoky Slate for another card (I'll be sharing it on Sunday 2 September), I used the negative space for this card!

The layers in the card are Smoky Slate and Basic Black and one of the layers has been embossed with the gorgeous Woodland Embossing Folder - still one of my favourites!

I stamped the owl with Bright Copper Shimmer Paint - I used the spatula end of the tool to place some shimmer paint on a sponge brayer and then rolled the paint onto the stamp.

The greeting, from the Graceful Garden stamp set, is copper heat embossed and I cut it out with one of the Merry Christmas Thinlit dies and added some copper Metallic Brads before adhering it to the card with mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Woodland Fathers Day card

My son likes me to make a card for him to give his father for Fathers Day but I was a bit stuck for ideas so decided to CASE an idea that I've seen floating around the internet for quite some time now using the gorgeous Woodland embossing folder.

This is a card that can easily be adapted for Christmas

 
I brayered the inside of the embossing folder with Smoky Slate ink at the top and  from the bottom with Garden Green ink.  I then used Memento Black ink to stamp the image of the stag.  I carefully placed a 5.5" square of Whisper White cardstock into the embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot.

I used an Aquapainter and some Cajun Craze ink to add some ground for the stag and used some Tip Top Taupe and Soft Suede ink with the Aquapainter on the stag.  I kept the colouring light on the stag for an almost ethereal look.  

I then worked on shadows and highlights on the stag with a Chalk Marker along with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Stampin' Write markers.  I found I could dab the chalk in areas to highlight and then smudge it with a finger.

The banner at the top of the card is three dimensional

  
To dress the top of the card, I cut some Pear Pizzazz and Garden Green cardstock with some of the Pretty Pines Thinlits dies.  

The greeting is from the Guy Greetings stamp set and I cut it out with the 3D banner from the Cupcake Cutouts Framelits.  On a piece of Basic Gray cardstock, I drew around the outside edge of the framelit with a pencil then cut around the pencil lines to create a mat for the banner.  The extra layer of cardstock did make it more difficult to shape the banner, so I kept it simple and just placed glue dots on the ends and foam adhesive strips in the middle.

I stamped a frond of Pine from the Christmas Pines stamp set inside the card using Garden Green ink.

Woodland 3 ways

The Woodland Embossing folder is one of the great new products in the 2015 Holiday Catalogue which will be launched on 1st September.  One of the benefits of being a Demonstrator is the pleasure of pre-ordering from new catalogues.

I can't believe that I nearly didn't buy this beautiful embossing folder!  It took me a while to see its versatility and what I could do with it.  I really had a lot of fun with it yesterday!

There's a masculine feel to this card

 I thought this would be good for a masculine birthday card.  I embossed some Lost Lagoon card and then sponged the trees with Lost Lagoon and Soft Suede.  Then I layered it onto a piece of Soft Suede before adhering it to my Island Indigo card.  I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the stag from the Wilderness Awaits stamp set and then stamped the greeting from Tag Talk in Soft Suede onto Sahara Sand card and punched it out.   

"Hello up there!"

   This time I embossed Whisper White cardstock.  I ran my 2-way glue pen over the embossing and then sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Then I layered this onto my card of Thick Whisper White.  I stamped the bear from White Christmas, added a little shading with Soft Sky ink and fussy cut him before sticking him down.  He's looking up at the bird from Santa's Gifts which I stamped onto Whisper White, Coloured and cut out.  The greeting is from Happy Scenes - I just manipulated it to fit into the banner from Project Life Hello December 2015 (one of the advantages of photopolymer stamps!).  I coloured it with Soft Sky and Pool Party inks and cut it out.  I placed it at an angle in the corner to complete my triangular composition.

Let's go, Rudolph!

I inked my embossing folder with Soft Sky ink before I added the Whisper White card and ran it through the Big Shot to get a coloured background.  Santa and rudolph are both from the Santa's Gifts stamp set.  I added some Dazzling Diamonds to Santa's fur and Rudolph's nose.  The greeting is from Petite Pairs which I punched out with the Large Oval punch.  The base card is Soft Sky.
