Garden Scene with Shimmer Paint

This was a bit of an experiment because I wanted to find something different to do with my retiring Garden Scene dies.

So I used the die in one corner of a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then lightly sponged with Frost White Shimmer Paint.

I found an oval label on my desk, left over from something-or-other, and white heat embossed the sentiment from the Stitched All Around stamp set.

Sponging with Shimmer Paint onto Basic Black cardstock with a debossed pattern.
The black leaf is cut with one of the Flourish dies.  Then this simple card is finished with some Black Shimmer Ribbon, Basic Adhesive Sequins and Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems.

In this first attempt at sponging on the shimmer paint - I was a bit too heavy handed and filled in all the indentations

By being a bit more light handed and sparing with the shimmer paint, the black lines of the embossed pattern show nicely

Woodland Deer Christmas Card in Basic Gray

Today's card is a CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) of a card I made a little while ago.

Drag Shimmer Paint over the embossed trees for an ethereal, shimmery background to the Christmas Card

This time, I made the card from Basic Gray cardstock.  I lightly dragged Frost White Shimmer Paint over the embossed trees with a paintbrush.

The top layer of the deer (there are three layers) is cut from Champagne Foil and I added a layer of Champagne Foil to the card to match.

To better suit the gray and Champagne colouring, I used the Petal Pink Metallic Ribbon from the Combo Pack.

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Special Guest: Sarah Flemming

Image may contain: text
Welcome to the Crazy Crafters' Blog Hop with our Special Guest stamper, Sarah Flemming - we are thrilled to have Sarah join us this month and so excited to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) any project that has been created by her.

Whether you are starting the blog hop here at my blog, Stephanie Fischer - The Crafty Thinker, or have come from the person before me, be sure to click on the person listed under me further down the page to continue your journey through the blog hop.

I really love this card of Sarah's: the bright pop of colours behind the black silhouettes, the layout, the touch of gold!

I also saw it as an opportunity to use another watercolour background that's been kicking around in my craft room for months!

Night Owl silhouette on a watercolour background
The main colours are Gorgeous Grape and Grapefruit Grove
So I cut the owl from Basic Black cardstock as well as the branch from the Seasonal Layers die set.  There is a beautiful branch in the Night Owl die set but this one suits my layout better.

I used one of the Timeless Textures stamps and Bright Copper Shimmer Paint to stamp the corners of the Gorgeous Grape layer and then added some splatters of the same Shimmer Paint.

Once I'd finished the card, I wished I used the Nature's Twine instead of the Grosgrain Ribbon but, although I tried, it was too difficult to make the change - oh well!

Still Night Owl in Copper and Crumb Cake

This card is a CASE of a card I made a little while ago.

I still had some of the Bright Copper Shimmer Paint stamped owls on my desk and also some more negatives left from cutting out the branch in the Night Owl Thinlits die set.

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #stillnight #owlcard , Still Night Bundle, Shimmer paint, Owl card, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW

The base card is Granite Gray with layers of Basic Black.

One of the Granite Gray layers is embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder which is not large enough for the square layer.  Simply emboss as much of the layer as possible, then move the cardstock across and place the top acrylic pad in such a position that it will not emboss the edge of the folder in the middle of the layer.

Dashing Deer in Winter Woods - a Christmas card

This deer seems to be weaving in and out of some saplings!  The wintry scene was so simple to make that I made another one!
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #christmascard #winterwoods #dashingdeer , Winter Woods, Detailed Deer, Shimmer Paint, Christmas Card, Xmas Card, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The greeting for this Christmas card featuring a Detailed Deer weaving between saplings in a Winter Wood
is from the Christmas Pines stamp set
I stamped a row of trunks from the Winter Woods stamp set onto Smoky Slate cardstock with Bright Copper Shimmer Paint (I roll the Shimmer Paint onto the stamp with a sponge roller).  I used my heat tool to set/dry the paint and  then I used a paint brush and some Whisper White Craft ink to highlight the trees, smudging with my finger from time to time to blend a bit.

I used a craft knife to cut down each side of some of the trees, just in the middle of the piece.  I found the easiest way to weave the deer through the trees was bottom first!  Once he was in position, I simply attached him with a couple of glue dots.

With my snips, I cut a random curvy top a piece of spare white cardstock, put a line of glue on the back of the curvy top and slid it under the deer's feet before securing it into position.  I added a subtle shadow under the deer's feet with a small brush and a little Smoky Slate ink.

Having stamped the greeting, I trimmed the piece to size and attached it to the front of the Basic Black card.

In The Still of The Night

This card is a CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) of the card that I made for the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Alison Solven.  Since we all CASEd one of her cards for that Blog Hop, this card must also be a CASE of her card!  If you'd like to see Alison's original card, you'll find a link to it here.

I love the owl from the Still Night Bundle!  Combined with the neutral colours, it makes for a great masculine card.
The owl from the Still Night Bundle is stamped with Bright Copper Shimmer Paint (apply some to a sponge brayer and roll it onto the stamp).  The Still Night Bundle will be available from 5 September 2018 to 2 January 2019 in the Holiday Catalogue.

The Basic Gray strip is embossed with the gorgeous Layered Leaves Dynamic Embossing Folder.  The greeting is copper heat embossed.

I cut the branch from Smoky Slate cardstock and didn't want to waste the leftovers, so I used the negative space in this card.

Thank you for visiting.
