Shimmery Trio of Dashing Deer in Winter Woods

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #christmascard #winterwoods #dashingdeer , Dashing Deer, Winter Woods, Shimmery White embossing powder, Trio of Christmas cards, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The Shimmery White embossing looks much prettier in person and I like it with the Gray Granite card
I've decided to throw in some extra inspiration - a Christmas present if you will!

Three looks using the same basic ingredients and method.

Basically the same card, just stepped up a bit by creating the layer on the Thick Whisper White base card
Onto Gray Granite cardstock, the image from Winter Woods was stamped with Versamark, sprinkled with Shimmer White embossing powder and heat embossed.

I then applied versamark to the lower section direct from the pad and Shimmer White heat embossed.

Just for a bit more depth and interest, I stamped some more trees with Versamark and left them as a watermark.

Then I added the deer (they were leftovers from previous projects!).  The Dashing Deer was stamped with Golden Glitz metallic ink (I find using the Stamparatus helps as I can stamp twice to reinforce the shimmery colour) and then cut out with the coordinating Detailed Deer die.

Stepped up just a little more:  One more layer, a different tree image and shadows created with directional use of the Versamark pad
I used the birch image for this one.  To give the impressing of tree shadows, I swiped my Versamark pad diagonally and sparingly and then added extra Versamark to the foreground using horizontal strokes with the pad. Then heat embossed again with Shimmer White embossing powder.

I'll be relaxing on Christmas Day and I'm pretty sure you will be too!  So my next post will be on Friday 27th December.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!  HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Thank you for visiting.
'Til next time!

A Christmas scene using Dashing Deer and Winter Woods bundles
I love fun folds and one of my favourites remains the centre step card.  I've included a template below.

The main panel of Smoky Slate cardstock was stamped with the Winter Woods stamp and I then added a snowy hill by hand-cutting a piece of Whisper White cardstock and adhering it.

The deer from the Dashing Deer stamp set were stamped onto Smoky Slate cardstock with black ink (TIP:  I used the Stamparatus to ensure that I could keep stamping the images until I was happy with the intensity of the ink).  I then cut the deer out with the coordinating Detailed Deer Thinlits dies (TIP: The stamps and dies are available together as the Dashing Deer Bundle for a 10% saving)

A centre step fun fold provides depth to this card featuring a Christmas scene
The Whisper White panels were embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder.  I added the Real Red ribbon and bow and I then adhered the trees which were cut with the In The Woods dies and painted with Frost White Shimmer Paint.
TIP:  In The Woods dies and Winter Woods stamp set are available as the Winter Woods Bundle at a saving of 10%.

Dashing Deer in Winter Woods - a Christmas card

This deer seems to be weaving in and out of some saplings!  The wintry scene was so simple to make that I made another one!

The greeting for this Christmas card featuring a Detailed Deer weaving between saplings in a Winter Wood
is from the Christmas Pines stamp set
I stamped a row of trunks from the Winter Woods stamp set onto Smoky Slate cardstock with Bright Copper Shimmer Paint (I roll the Shimmer Paint onto the stamp with a sponge roller).  I used my heat tool to set/dry the paint and  then I used a paint brush and some Whisper White Craft ink to highlight the trees, smudging with my finger from time to time to blend a bit.

I used a craft knife to cut down each side of some of the trees, just in the middle of the piece.  I found the easiest way to weave the deer through the trees was bottom first!  Once he was in position, I simply attached him with a couple of glue dots.

With my snips, I cut a random curvy top a piece of spare white cardstock, put a line of glue on the back of the curvy top and slid it under the deer's feet before securing it into position.  I added a subtle shadow under the deer's feet with a small brush and a little Smoky Slate ink.

Having stamped the greeting, I trimmed the piece to size and attached it to the front of the Basic Black card.
