Still Night Owl in Copper and Crumb Cake

This card is a CASE of a card I made a little while ago.

I still had some of the Bright Copper Shimmer Paint stamped owls on my desk and also some more negatives left from cutting out the branch in the Night Owl Thinlits die set.

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #stillnight #owlcard , Still Night Bundle, Shimmer paint, Owl card, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW

The base card is Granite Gray with layers of Basic Black.

One of the Granite Gray layers is embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder which is not large enough for the square layer.  Simply emboss as much of the layer as possible, then move the cardstock across and place the top acrylic pad in such a position that it will not emboss the edge of the folder in the middle of the layer.

A Beautiful Shimmery Bauble Under The Mistletoe

This is another of the stenciled baubles I made the other day with my home made stencil and Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint.  All the instructions can be found here.

A traditional Christmas card made with a home made stencil and some Shimmer Paint

Although my photos don't really show it, the basket weave pattern on the white square has been sponged with Frost White Shimmer Paint for even more glamour.

Coppery Winter Woods

I'm so happy with the way this card turned out ... and it started out as the result of an accident!

An atmospheric Christmas card: A background of sponged Shimmer Paints with images from
Winter Woods and Dashing Deer stamp sets
The other week I was experimenting with the new Shimmer Paints (Bright Copper, Vegas Gold, Champagne Mist and White Frost).  I was attempting to pour a little of the copper onto the large acrylic block that I was using as a palette so that I could apply it my owl stamp with a sponge brayer (you can see the results of that here, here and here).  However, rather too much spilled out and, loathe to waste any, I thought about ways to use it.  So I used the sponge brayer to add some to the embossing in this card and then used the same brayer to apply some to a piece of Early Espresso card stock.

Since it was looking a bit dark, I then used the same brayer with some Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint  and then a tiny bit of Champagne Mist.

Once my shimmery background was dry, I used Jet Black Stazon ink to stamp the Pine tree from the Winter Woods stamp set.  Switching to the other tree image in the set, I stamped off and then stamped on to the background.  Having reinked the stamp, I then stamped again, lower and to the right and then added the deer from the Dashing Deer stamp set.  Hint:  Using the Stamparatus will allow you to stamp an image as many times as you like in the one spot to obtain a darker image.

To add a bit of contrasting highlight, I used a paint brush to apply some of the White Frost Shimmer Paint to the snowy parts of the pine tree and a little in the foreground.  I used a combination of light strokes and stippling.

I used the greeting from the Star of Light stamp set because it was a good size for this card.  It's copper heat embossed.

The base card is Basic black and there's a Sahara Sand layer.
