Country Floral Daffodil

In just a few weeks my mother-in-law will be celebrating her 89th birthday - wow!  She's in very good health but, unfortunately, her eyesight is failing.  So I've made this card larger than I usually do so that I could fit in a bold birthday greeting.  I've also used texture in the card so that she can feel the pattern.

I chose white for elegance and yellow because when I think of April, I think of daffodils and also because it's a very cheerful colour.

Linda is so talented that I had a HUGE short list of her projects and it was really difficult to choose one - but eventually I narrowed it down to this one based on the layout.

So here's my version:

Black, gold and soft suede: a multipurpose card suitable for any gender or occasion

Step 1 was to black heat emboss the greeting from the Rooted In Nature stamp set.  I then placed the soft suede card topper into the Sparkle embossing folder at an angle and partially ran it through the Big Shot .

Step 2 I cut a strip of Broadway Bound Designer Series Paper and trimmed it at an angle into two pieces which I adhered to the card top.

Step 3 I added pieces of the Mini Sequin Trim in gold and the 1/8" Black Cord and fastened it to the back with some sticky tape.

Step 4  I glued the card front to the basic black base card.

Step 5 I used the Natures Roots Framelits to cut and emboss three leaves which I swiped with a Versamark pad and then Gold heat embossed.  I then glued them to the card top.

Step 6 I cut the Botanicals Tag in both gold foil sheet and black cardstock, having first applied some Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to the back for easy application to the card.

Step 7  Having adhered the gold flower outline to the card front, I paper pieced the little black pieces from the other die cut and then added a black Faceted Dot to the centre.

The leaves sit over the top of the trims which provides some dimension to the card

The Sky is the limit for World Traveler & Traveler!

 Today I was making more samples for my 9 week semester of classes (starting 2 February).  

World Traveler embossing folder with Marina Mist ink - letterpress technique

This card featuring the World Traveler embossing folder with the ship from the Traveler stamp set, is for the class about the Letterpress technique.

The front of the ship is popped up on dimensionals

I liked the combination so much that I decided to pair the World Traveler embossing folder with some other modes of transport!  Since the others were land-based,though, I decided to emphasise the land masses on the globe rather than the sea.

The aircraft is from the Sky is the limit stamp set

The birthday greeting on all of the cards is from the Sky Is The Limit stamp set which can't be purchased because it's one of the wonderful FREE products that are exclusive to Sale-A-Bration - for every $90 of product you buy, you can choose one FREE product from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

The train is from the Traveler stamp set

The label for the greeting is cut with the Project Life Cards & Labels framelits.

The aircraft is popped up on dimensionals as are the front of the ship and the front of the train.

I like this embossing folder so much that I can forgive its geographical inaccuracy!
