Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop: Theme - Favourite Designer Series paper

Image may contain: text

Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  This month we are showcasing our favourite Designer Series Paper (DSP).  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.  I hope you enjoy my cards.

I'm afraid I'm quite fickle when it comes to favourite Designer Series Paper!  At the time I sat down to work on projects for this post, my favourite was Sweet Soiree!

A very feminine easel card using Sweet Soiree Designer Series Paper
I started out by making an easel card with Night of Navy cardstock and then layering the front with pieces of Marina Mist (one of the retiring colours) and a piece of the Sweet Soiree with a smaller floral pattern - which is so beautiful with its silver outlines!

The retiring Sweet Soiree DSP is quite versatile

I then cut flowers from a piece of the paper with a larger floral pattern and adhered them, in a semi-random way, to a rectangle of Marina Mist card layered onto a piece of Silver Foil Sheet.

The easel card is embellished with flowers fussy cut from the Sweet Soiree paper

Inside the card I adhered a frame of Silver Foil Sheet followed by more Marina Mist.  Using Stampin' Dimensionals I then adhered a strip of Night of Navy layered with a small piece of the Sweet Soiree.  I also cut out some more of the smaller flowers and adhered them to the strip for extra interest.  I used some yellow Glitter Enamel Dots for centres as well as a couple of the new Faceted Dots that will be available in the 2018 Annual Catalogue on 1 June.

The inside of the easel card

The greeting on the front of the card is from the Beautiful Day stamp set and I used Night of Navy ink.  I cut it out with a die from the Petals & More thinlits and adjusted the length of the label like this.  I edged the label with Calypso Coral ink before I stuck it down.

The easel card looks like this when closed

I've only ever made feminine cards with the Sweet Soiree paper so I then challenged myself to make a masculine card with one of the leftover bits I'd kept.

Sneak Peek of the beautiful stamp set with the embarrassing name "Rooted in Nature"

The base card is Sahara Sand. I placed a layer of Garden Green cardstock under the Sweet Soiree paper (which is Old Olive with silver) to provide some definition and interest.  I then used my trusty Stampin' Trimmer to make a frame with Early Espresso cardstock.

Using the Layering Squares framelits, I cut a square of Sahara Sand and a slightly larger one in Early Espresso.  I stamped the greeting in Early Espresso ink and sprinkled it with clear embossing powder while it was still wet.

Both the greeting and the trees are a sneak peek of a brand new stamp set that will be available from 1 June in the new Annual Catalogue.  It's an incredibly beautiful stamp set with an embarrassingly terrible name - "Rooted in Nature".  Apparently it doesn't mean the same in America!

I stamped the front tree with Old Olive ink and the three tall ones with Garden Green ink.  I then used Stampin' Write Markers in Early Espresso, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake to colour the trunks and a few bits of branches.  Then I used some green markers and a sort of morse code action (dots and dashes) to deepen the shadows here and there for extra dimension.

Birthday cake?  Wedding cake?  Could be either!
By the time I made the last card, I was running on empty and I'm not sure I like it but I'm not sure why.  The base card and ink are Rich Razzleberry to pick up the tiny flowers on the cake.  The greeting is from the Graceful Garden stamp set and I cut the end with the label die in the Petals & More set then layered it onto a piece of Silver Foil cut with the retiring Lots of Labels dies - I'm really going to miss those!

I hope the projects you've seen here on my blog today have inspired you and brightened your day.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer.  Please see the list below and hop through all of the people on the list to see all our projects.  You don't want to miss any!

Thank you for visiting.

Sneak Peek - Graceful Glass Suite with 2018-2020 In-Colours

I originally made it for Sunday's Crazy Crafters Blog Hop but wasn't entirely happy with it.  So this card is a CASE of a card by Rachel Tesselman featuring:
New ink colours: Blueberry Bushel, Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove, Call Me Clover, Lovely Lipstick, Gray Granite
New products:  Graceful Glass Suite, Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #sneakpeek #cardmaking , Sneak Peek, 2018 Catalogue, Graceful Glass, In-Colours, Paper Piecing, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Sneak peek of Stained Glass dies and Delightfully Detailed laser cut paper as well as the 2018-2020 In-Colours
The base card is the new colour: Gray Granite
I sponged the Delightfully Detailed laser cut strip with Lemon Lime Twist, Pacific Point and Tranquil Tide inks.  I coloured the rose with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  The label was cut with one of the Petals & More Thinlits, the top layer was embossed with the Simple Stripes embossing folder and the strip of Blueberry Bushel cardstock was embossed with the Hexagons folder.

I love the new Graceful Glass Suite (Painted glass stamp set, Stained Glass dies and Graceful Glass Vellum) but there's something about this card that I find a bit disturbing and I'm pretty sure it's the colours.

I'm really excited to have the new colour Gray Granite in the colour range - I'm pretty sure it's going to become one of my go-to neutrals.  I also really like the new In-Colours, even though I find the Pineapple Punch a little strong - it'll be great in small doses.

I think the problem is that I don't yet have any matching inks and it's been a great eye-opener!

The truth is that I'd started to take for granted the wonderful array of matching shades, automatically reaching for ribbon, cardstock, patterned paper, inks, markers and embellishments all in matching and coordinating colours.

I had forgotten my pre-Stampin' Up days when I spent ages finding colour matches (and they were never exact!) and blending ink colours.

So, even though I may not love this card, I'm grateful for the reminder of just how awesome the Stampin' Up colours and products really are! ..... and I'll have some matching inks next week!

Thank you for visiting.

I chose to CASE this pretty card because I felt its simple layout would lend itself well to showcasing a new 2018-2020 In Colour and a sneak peek of a gorgeous new Designer Vellum.

Graceful Glass Vellum and Blueberry Bushel - one of the gorgeous new 2018-2020 In-Colours

This card features one of the new In-Colours called Blueberry Bushel and the stunning printed vellum pack of papers called Graceful Glass which is from the Graceful Glass Suite.  In the next few days I'll be sharing a card I've made using the matching Stained Glass Thinlits dies.
#thecraftythinker #sneakpeek, cardmaking, 2018 Annual Catalogue, Graceful Glass Vellum, In-colour, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The Graceful Glass Vellum has been coloured on the back with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers

Since I don't yet have Stampin' Blends in the  In-Colours, I've used some of my existing ones.  It's not a total match but it'll do!

I've placed Whisper White card behind the vellum pieces to show them to their best advantage.  I adhered the strip by sponging a light coat of Liquid MultiPurpose Glue to the back of the vellum.  To adhere the square, I used glue dots strategically placed behind the embellishments.

The inside of the card is decorated with the matching Painted Glass stamp set

I decorated the inside of the card using the matching Painted Glass stamp set and used one of the four greetings - love that font!

I'll be sending this card, with a little gift, as a thank you to a customer.

Sneak Peeks: 2018-2020 In Colours and Painted Glass Vellum

This card is entered into the Crazy Crafters Team Highlights.  Click here to see all the wonderful projects and vote for your favourites.

Meet the new 2018-2020 In-Colours: Grapefruit Grove, Blueberry Bushel, Lovely Lipstick, Call Me Clover and Pineapple Punch

The 2018-2020 In-Colours are beautifully bright

These cards also provide a sneak peek of a beautiful pack of patterned vellum called Graceful Glass from the Graceful Glass Suite which also includes the Painted Glass stamp set and matching Stained Glass Thinlits dies.  These products are in the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue which will run from 1st June 2018 to 3rd June 2019.

Sneak Peek of the Graceful Glass Vellum and Blueberry Bushel In-Colour

I have coloured the vellum with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  Since the matching colours in the markers are not yet available, I've used: Night of Navy, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Smoky Slate
#thecraftythinker #cardmaking #sneakpeek2018catalogue #2018incolours #paintedglass , Sneak Peek 2018-2019 Catalogue, Painted Glass, 2018-2020 In-Colours, Stampin' Up! Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Sneak Peek of Graceful Glass Vellum and Call Me Clover In-Colour

The Painted Glass stamp set has four really useful sentiments in a beautiful font - I can see myself using them a lot!

Sneak Peek of Graceful Glass Vellum and Grapefruit Grove In-Colour with a Grapefruit Grove Faceted Dot

I coloured some of the vellum pieces on the back and some on the front and I really don't think it made much difference.  I mounted the coloured vellum onto pieces of Whisper White card and, unless I know that my card design will hide adhesive, I find the best way to adhere the vellum without the adhesive showing is to lightly sponge the back of the vellum with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

Sneak Peek of Graceful Glass Vellum with Lovely Lipstick In-Colour

You might have noticed the embossing and been wondering about that?! I'm very excited that Big Shot Embossing Mats are included in the new Annual Catalogue.  This is such a great tool to enhance the abilities of the Big Shot and our collections of dies!  For these cards I've embossed with one of the Detailed Floral Thinlits.

Sneak Peek of Graceful Glass Vellum with Pineapple Punch In-Colour

The Pineapple Punch cardstock was a bit bright for me (much like Lemon Lime Twist, I think I'll enjoy using it in small doses) so I used a larger piece of the vellum which toned it down nicely.

If you don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, live in Australia and would like a copy of the catalogue, please contact me.
