Delightfully Detailed Two Ways

The new Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Paper is sooo gorgeous that you won't want to miss a trick with it and there are lots of ways to incorporate it into your projects!

These two cards I made by sponging a piece of the new Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper with Sahara Sand ink.  By placing a piece of Whisper White cardstock under the lattice while sponging, I created a second lattice background at the same time.

You can see more examples of this here and here using Blueberry Bushel ink.

Colouring the lattice for this card produced the background for the card shown below

In the first card, my Sahara Sand lattice is placed on top of the Early Espresso base card.  I then added the Petal Pink floral pattern that was cut with one of the Eclectic Layers dies (I trimmed around the edges with my snips).  I also added some of the little diamond shapes left over from the die cutting.

Colour palette: Early Espresso, Petal Pink, Sahara Sand, Cajun Craze, Pear Pizzazz

I cut the single leaves from Cajun Craze and Pear Pizzazz cardstock with the new Nature's Roots framelits and embossed them with the matching embossing dies in the set.  I then ran a matching Stampin' Write marker along the embossing and added a bit more colouration with watercolouring and sponging - I can't remember now why I didn't stamp them with the coordinating Rooted In Nature images (these can be purchased as a Bundle at a saving of 10%).

The remaning leaves are cut from Granny Apple Green cardstock (a new colour in the palette) and I added some shading with some watercolouring.

The greeting is from the Eastern Beauty stamp set, punched out with a 1 1/4" circular punch.

The finishing touches were one of the new Leaves Trinkets and some Faceted Dots.

The very versatile Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper used here as both stencil and sponged embellishment

So the lattice background in this card is a by-product of the first card and I added it to a Night of Navy base card.

Colour Palette: Sahara Sand, Night of Navy, Granny Apple Green, Grapefruit Grove and Calypso coral
I then added strips of the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper that I'd sponged with varying amounts of Night of Navy ink - if I'd sponged them on top of strips of cardstock, I could have used those decorative strips on yet another card!

I cut the flower with the Eclectic Layers dies from the Grapefruit Grove cardstock and Calypso Coral.  The centre is one of the new Faceted Dots.

Using the new Granny Apple Green cardstock I punched twice with the Leaf Punch and then sponged with a little Tranquil Tide ink.  The remaining delicate leaves and small flower are cut from a piece of the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper and sponged with Mint Macaron and Grapefruit Grove inks respectively.

Faceted Dots
Leaves Trinkets
Granny Apple Green - cardstock and ink

The colour scheme
I coloured this piece of Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Paper with Blueberry Bushel ink (another sneak peek!) and a sponge brayer.  Since I have a tendency towards frugality - not wanting to waste any of that delicious ink - I placed a piece of Whisper White cardstock underneath before I started brayering and ended up with a lovely background piece that I used in this card.

I used Stampin' Dimensionals for depth

The flowers are made with the Eclectic Layers dies using Powder Pink and Berry Burst cardstock and the leaves are cut from Tranquil Tide cardstock.  I'm so going to miss those elegant Metal Rimmed Pearls!  They're available until 31st May or while stocks last.

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop: Theme - 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue Sneak Peek

Image may contain: text

Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.
Our theme this month is the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue - we'll be providing you with sneak peeks!

I've chose the stunningly beautiful Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Paper, some new embellishments and the soft and luscious Petal Pink colour.
#thecraftythinker #sdbh #sneakpeek #cardmaking #stampinup, SDBH, Sneak Peek, Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer,Sydney NSW
Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper rescued a bland and blotchy watercolour background
The base card is Bermuda Bay with layers of Very Vanilla and Petal Pink cardstock which is a new colour in the revamped colour collection.

Do you, like me, have some failed watercolour backgrounds lying around in your craft area?  Well, dig it out ..... Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Paper to the rescue!

This was a piece of Watercolour Paper that I'd spritzed with colour (water and Ink Refill in a Stampin' Spritzer) but I was never happy with the way the colours blended and I also thought it was a bit bland.  So I stuck some of the gorgeous laser cut paper on top and it developed some wow factor!

I added some copper Leaves Trinkets and a Tinted Faceted Button which I first threaded with a length of Natures Twine.  TIP: The Nature's Twine is 3-ply and I removed one of the plys so that it would fit through the button holes easily.

At the time I made the card, I didn't have any new ribbon - so I've used a piece of the retiring Bermuda Bay Mini Chevron Ribbon.

All of the new products will be available from 1 June 2018.  If you live in Australia, don't have a distributor and would like your own copy of the new Catalogue - please contact me.

Thank you for visiting.  I hope you enjoyed these cards.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer - please see the list below and click on the next person on the list to hop through all of the people to see all of our projects.  You don't want to miss any!

Delightfully Detailed Sympathy Card (a sneak peek)

Image may contain: text

This card started out with the Sahara Sand frame that I'd made for this card and then replaced with a different colour.

Keeping the rest of the card simple to let the stunning Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper shine

I simply cut a piece of the gorgeous Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper to size and glued it to the back of the frame with the white side of the paper showing to the front.

I adhered the frame to the base card of Basic Gray. The sentiment is from the Painted Glass stamp set and I cut it out with one of the Layering Ovals framelits.

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #sneakpeek #delightfullydetailed #cardmaking , Sneak peek, Delightfully Detailed paper, new 2018 colours, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The new Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper is so beautiful that a card doesn't need much else!

This is such a simple yet effective card!  I simply chopped off a piece of the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper that comes in a 12" sheet and glued it behind a frame of Gorgeous Grape cardstock - #loveitchopit . In this instance, I used the Very Vanilla side of the laser cut sheet (the other side is Whisper White).

The base card is Gorgeous Grape with a layer of Highland heather.

The greeting is from the Hand Delivered stamp set which is a Host set in the new Annual Catalogue and available, with a qualifying party/workshop, from 1 June.  It's stamped onto a small offcut of Mango Melody card from which I trimmed the corners with a 1/2" Circle punch.  This is mounted onto an offcut of Gorgeous Grape and finished with a couple of  Blackberry Bliss Faceted Dots - also available from 1 June in the new Annual Catalogue.

Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop : Technique - Easel Card

No automatic alt text available.
Welcome to the Ink It! Stamp It! Design Team Blog Hop - we hop every month so be sure to pop back and visit us again!  Today our theme is Technique and I've made an easel card using the gorgeous new Graceful Glass Vellum that will be available in the new Annual Catalogue from 1 June.

You are currently at my page - Stephanie Fischer, The Crafty Thinker.  At the end of my post there is a full line of team members, please click on the name after mine in the list to continue the hop.

A stained glass window achieved with an easel card and the Graceful Glass Vellum

I used Stampin' Blends alcohol markers to add some colour to the front of the printed vellum and them made some frames from Poppy Parade cardstock.  Poppy Parade is a returning colour in the new Annual Catalogue.  Real Red would work really well too.
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #sneakpeek #funfold #gracefulglass , sneak peek, Graceful Glass, Easel Card, Fun Fold, Ink It Stamp it, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The Poppy Parade red and Graceful Glass vellum make a striking contrast against the neutral easel card

I made the base easel from a 12" square piece of Basic Black card and have included the dimensions below.
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #sneakpeek #funfold #gracefulglass , sneak peek, Graceful Glass, Easel Card, Fun Fold, Ink It Stamp it, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
When the easel card is propped open, the light shines through the "stained glass window"

I added layers of Poppy Parade and Sahara Sand cardstock to the easel and then added my framed pieces of vellum.  From the photos you'll see that I adhered both to the lower section of the front of the card so that the top frame stands proud when the easel is propped into position.
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #sneakpeek #funfold #gracefulglass , sneak peek, Graceful Glass, Easel Card, Fun Fold, Ink It Stamp it, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The inside of the easel card is quite clean and simple

Inside the card I adhered a decorative strip with Stampin' Dimensionals and above that I adhered a piece of Whisper White cardstock for writing a greeting.   I didn't want the white to show when the card was propped open on it's easel.

I cut the piece of vellum larger than the Whisper White strip underneath it, folded it over the white strip and taped it at the back so that no adhesive would show through the vellum.  I then adhered that strip to a slightly larger piece of Poppy Parade and added a couple of Faceted Dots that will also be available from 1 June.
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #sneakpeek #funfold #gracefulglass , sneak peek, Graceful Glass, Easel Card, Fun Fold, Ink It Stamp it, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The finished size of this easel card is 7" x 6"

I stamped the greeting from the matching Painted Glass stamp set onto a piece of Sahara Sand and layered it onto a piece of Basic Black card.

DIMENSIONS:
Easel card:  Cut to 12" x 7".  Score and fold long side at 6" and 9"

Layers:  Cut 2 each  Red 2 3/4" x 6 3/4"
                                  Sahara Sand  2 1/2' x 61/2"

Vellum: Top piece           3" x 6"
             Lower piece       1 3/4" x 6"

Frames: (Cut out the middles of the pieces, leaving 1/4" frames)
Top Frame (red)              3 1/4" x 6 1/8"     - Adhere only the lower edge to the card
Lower Frame (red)          1 7/8" x 6 1/8"     - Adhere all edges to the card

I hope you've enjoyed this this technique and card and I welcome your comments.

Thank you so much for joining us today. We hope you'll join us again next month for projects featuring our Favourite Retiring Bundle! I'm Stephanie Fischer and to keep hopping around see the list below to see who is up next with another great technique.

Sneak Peek - Graceful Glass Suite with 2018-2020 In-Colours

I originally made it for Sunday's Crazy Crafters Blog Hop but wasn't entirely happy with it.  So this card is a CASE of a card by Rachel Tesselman featuring:
New ink colours: Blueberry Bushel, Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove, Call Me Clover, Lovely Lipstick, Gray Granite
New products:  Graceful Glass Suite, Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #sneakpeek #cardmaking , Sneak Peek, 2018 Catalogue, Graceful Glass, In-Colours, Paper Piecing, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Sneak peek of Stained Glass dies and Delightfully Detailed laser cut paper as well as the 2018-2020 In-Colours
The base card is the new colour: Gray Granite
I sponged the Delightfully Detailed laser cut strip with Lemon Lime Twist, Pacific Point and Tranquil Tide inks.  I coloured the rose with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  The label was cut with one of the Petals & More Thinlits, the top layer was embossed with the Simple Stripes embossing folder and the strip of Blueberry Bushel cardstock was embossed with the Hexagons folder.

I love the new Graceful Glass Suite (Painted glass stamp set, Stained Glass dies and Graceful Glass Vellum) but there's something about this card that I find a bit disturbing and I'm pretty sure it's the colours.

I'm really excited to have the new colour Gray Granite in the colour range - I'm pretty sure it's going to become one of my go-to neutrals.  I also really like the new In-Colours, even though I find the Pineapple Punch a little strong - it'll be great in small doses.

I think the problem is that I don't yet have any matching inks and it's been a great eye-opener!

The truth is that I'd started to take for granted the wonderful array of matching shades, automatically reaching for ribbon, cardstock, patterned paper, inks, markers and embellishments all in matching and coordinating colours.

I had forgotten my pre-Stampin' Up days when I spent ages finding colour matches (and they were never exact!) and blending ink colours.

So, even though I may not love this card, I'm grateful for the reminder of just how awesome the Stampin' Up colours and products really are! ..... and I'll have some matching inks next week!

Thank you for visiting.
'Til next time!
Stephanie
