Beautiful Day with Brusho- Sneak Peeks

I love the Brusho Colour Crystals in the new Occasions Catalogue and have been having fun experimenting.  In previous cards, I've made backgrounds and in this one I tried to use it in a slightly different way.

The Brusho Colour Crystals are so much fun to use and watch reacting with the water

The beautiful bold flower from the Beautiful Day stamp set was white heat embossed on watercolour paper.  I then brushed water onto the flower and sprinkled on a couple of different Brusho colours as well as green onto the leaf.

Once the flower had dried, I mixed some blue Brusho crystals with water on an acrylic block and used a damp paintbrush to apply the colour to the background - picking up more pigment and dropping it near the flower.

The greeting, from the same stamp set, is stamped in Dapper Denim ink and the panel was adhered to a Peekaboo Peach mat before being adhered to the Dapper Denim base card.

Both the stamp set and the Brusho Colours will be available from 3 January 2018 in the new Occasions Catalogue.

Thank you for visiting.

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Favourite DSP

Image may contain: text
Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.
Our theme this month is our favourite Designer Series Paper (DSP).  What a difficult choice - I love so many!!  Eventually I chose the Petal Passion DSP which is a sneak peek of an item in the 2018 Occasions Catalogue (which runs from 3 January to 31st May 2018).

Petal Passion DSP watercoloured with Stampin' Up inks

I chose it because I love versatility and this is a hugely versatile collection of paper.

Petal Passion DSP coloured with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers

In order to illustrate some of its versatility, I've made several very similar cards all using one sheet of the paper but I've used different colouring techniques on each one.

All of the papers are suitable for many purposes: birthdays, weddings, engagements, sympathy, mother's day or just because!  Add colour or stick to an elegant black and white colour scheme.

Petal Passion DSP coloured with Stampin' Up Watercolor Pencils

Even small off-cuts can be put to good use!  I usually blend the watercolor pencils with a damp brush but for the sample above I simply left them as is.

For the brayered card, I used Powder Pink and Rich Razzleberry inks.

Christmas Card - Brusho Strip with Swirly Snowflakes

I had my first play with the Brusho Crystal Colour the other day .... and I love them!  After making this card, I was left with a strip of watercolour paper and a few puddles of coloured water on my mat.

The gold washi tape really enhances the vibrant colours of the Brusho strip

Naturally, I swished the strip of watercolour paper through the puddles but then decided that I wanted more impact so, while it was still wet, I sprinkled on some more of the crystals.  I love the dramatic colour effect!

I then used some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper, Bermuda Bay and Real Red cardstock to make this card - along with the gorgeous Swirly Snowflakes dies.  I coloured some Clear Faceted Gems with my Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.

You may be wondering about the "splodgy" colouring on the snowflakes?  Well, I finally used a failed experiment that's been sitting on my desk for quite a few months now!  It was so long ago that I can't even remember the name of the technique but it involved painting several layers of white acrylic paint onto a piece of watercolour paper and then adding a layer of ink, allowing it to dry and then dripping on some alcohol before repeating the inking and dripping.

My rather ugly background that I'd left discarded before I thought of die-cutting it!

As a background paper it was a dismal failure - I thought it quite ugly - but I really like the effect now that it's been cut into snowflakes!

Thank you for visiting.
