Merry Little Star Christmas Card

Looking for ways to use up precious little scraps of Designer Series Paper, I CASEd (Copy And Selectively Edit) my own card that I made for one of our Crazy Crafter Blog Hops, which in turn CASED a scrapbook layout by Susan Wong.

A great way to use up those little scraps of Designer Series Paper in an interesting Christmas card

The silver heat embossed star was left over from a previous project and already sitting on my table - so this card came together really quickly!!

I added a Glitter Enamel Dot to the centre of the star and a banner, which I stamped with Archival Basic Black ink and watercoloured with a little Old Olive ink.

Star of Light on Textured Watercolour Paper

This card is another product of failure (the same failure that I mentioned last Friday!).  There was a light coating of Melon Mambo and Pacific Point ink on my Marbled background stamp so I spritzed it with water and pressed it down onto a piece of watercolour paper.

I was quite disappointed with the result - there was a very light print at one end from the Melon Mambo ink but half of the piece looked unaltered.

A simple Christmas card produced from a failed watercolour background!

Nevertheless, once the piece was dry, I sponged with Pacific Point ink and thought it would be a suitable background for a Christmas star.  So I cut some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with a die from the Starlight Thinlits and adhered it to the front.  I stamped a greeting from the matching Star of Light stamp set and cut it out with one of the Lots of Labels framelits.  I then trimmed it down and added some silver stars from the Metallic Enamel Shapes.  I added a Glitter Shape to the centre of the star.

Lovely Star of Light

Going through my Facebook feed today I saw a beautiful card made by a talented lady called Gwen Maghdour.  She had combined the stamp sets Star of Light and Lovely As a Tree and I thought "what a good idea!".

Sadly, I didn't capture the silver heat embossing very well

So this is my, night time, version.
