Garden Scene with Shimmer Paint

This was a bit of an experiment because I wanted to find something different to do with my retiring Garden Scene dies.

So I used the die in one corner of a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then lightly sponged with Frost White Shimmer Paint.

I found an oval label on my desk, left over from something-or-other, and white heat embossed the sentiment from the Stitched All Around stamp set.

The black leaf is cut with one of the Flourish dies.  Then this simple card is finished with some Black Shimmer Ribbon, Basic Adhesive Sequins and Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems.

In this first attempt at sponging on the shimmer paint - I was a bit too heavy handed and filled in all the indentations

By being a bit more light handed and sparing with the shimmer paint, the black lines of the embossed pattern show nicely

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Annual Catalogue Sneak Peek - Butterfly Wishes

Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.

Our theme this month is to provide sneak peeks from the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue, which takes effect from 3rd June.

I've chosen to use the Butterfly Wishes stamp set Stitched Nested Labels and Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper.

The beautiful new Perennial Essence paper and Butterfly Wishes stamp set

I inked up the entire stamp with Blushing Bride ink and then added Mint Macaron and Soft Suede to the branches and leaves before stamping onto Whisper White cardstock.

TIP:  Breath heavily onto the inked stamp before stamping down onto the card.  The moisture in your "huff" will be sufficient to ensure that the ink is activated.

Give more depth to the butterfly by adding some lighter wings with Stampin' Dimensionals
I stamped the butterfly onto a scrap of Whisper White card using Cherry Cobbler and then, without re-inking, stamped again for a lighter shade.

I then cut out the entire darker butterfly and just the wings of the lighter one which I adhered to the darker butterfly using glue and bits of Stampin' Dimensionals before gluing the finished butterfly to the cardfront.

If you live in Australia and don't currently have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, contact me for your copy of the new catalogue.

The following products will be available for purchase from my online store from 3rd June 2019:

Eastern Medallions with Repeat Step Stamping

Another set of products that's retiring on 2nd June - The Eastern Beauty stamp set and coordinating Eastern Medallions thinlits dies.  I've also used one of the retiring In-Colours - Lemon Lime Twist.

Eastern Beauty stamp set & Eastern Medallions dies are both set to retire on 2 June 2019
It's easy to make a die cut label the correct length for your sentiment

I did a little "step stamping" with the ever-useful Stamparatus to make the background and then used the dies to create the focal piece.

I cut out the greeting with one of the Merry Christmas dies, shortening it using this method.  I then used Rectangle Stitched Framelits to cut the coloured layers.

Negative Space Frosted Bouquet Butterfly

It's been a scary week for me.  As I shakily set out on my breast cancer journey, I think this card is a timely reminder to look for the beauty in the negative.

As some of you may know, I tend to hang on to bits and pieces "because they might be useful later"!  So long ago now that I can't even remember it (although my son would tell you that doesn't really narrow things down too far!) I cut a black sprig from a scrap piece of cardstock.  Then I looked at the negative piece and thought it might be useful later!

A beautiful negative: Frosted Bouquet Die

So here it is - later has arrived!  I trimmed the scrap into a neat rectangle with one of the Stitched Rectangle dies and then layered it onto some Champagne Foil Sheet.

Then there's another black layer that I ran though the Big Shot with the Subtle embossing folder and a little edge of Champagne Foil (I always cut out the middle to use for other projects).

Discarded pieces from die-cutting can be turned into pretty cards

I added a wrapping of black ribbon before adhering it all to the Basic Black card front.

The greeting is from Itty Bitty Greetings and is cut out with the Classic Label Punch.  I used this method to shorten it.

I used Stazon ink to stamp just a small butterfly from the Butterfly Gala stamp set and then used the coordinating Butterfly Bouquet punch to punch it out and also a second, unstamped butterfly.  I adhered these to the card, using bits of Stampin' Dimensional to pop up the wings of the stamped butterfly.

Then I went crazy with gold Metallic Pearls!

I rather liked the result, so I made a variant that includes some butterfly themed paper that I had left from Saleabration.  Now I've got a little black sprig die cut that might be useful later .....!

Delightfully Detailed Blueberry

Another fond farewell - this time to the gorgeous Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper.
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #delightfullydetailed , Delightfully Detailed paper, Darling Label Punch Box, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Saying farewell to the gorgeous Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper
I used a sponge brayer to add Blueberry Bushel ink to the delicate paper and then adhered it to a watercolour background.  I always have a bunch of backgrounds stacked in a corner.  I think this one had Bermuda Bay and Blueberry Bushel inks - so I used those colours for the rest of the card.

The white frame is cut with the Stitched Rectangles dies and I've added some Blueberry Bushel ribbon as well as the Granite Gray ribbon.

The greeting and label are from the Darling Label Punch Box. TIP:  I used a Blueberry Bushel Stampin' Write Marker to ink up just the swirl on the stamp and stamped it upside down on top of the sentiment.

TIP:  To colour the edges of the label I used a ruler and a Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blend alcohol marker, just freehanding around the curves.

Click here to see/purchase all of the retiring products while they last.  They'll only be available until 2nd June or while stocks last.
