Christmas cards: Poinsettia Petals Die Cuts on Plush Poinsettia

Back to the Christmas focus!

I LOVE easy,quick but beautiful cards - especially at Christmas when I'm making lots!  So I'm really grateful for the Poinsettia Petals Bundle - in fact, I purchased the entire Poinsettia Place Suite and I'm so glad I did!  It makes Christmas cardmaking effortless as well as stylish!

For the first card, I used the new Red & Green Foil Sheets for the poinsettia.  For the second I used Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

For both, I added elements of Gold Foil Sheet and a greeting stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink.

The Poinsettia Place Suite - makes Christmas card-making soooo easy!

I cut the banners with the new, incredibly useful, Banners Pick A Punch: one punch that offers two end shapes in three sizes each.

Also from the Poinsettia Place Suite are the gorgeous Beaded Pearls (what perfect Poinsettia centres!) and Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper.

Poinsettia on Frosted Florals

I used White Velvet Paper for this one (which is no longer available, I made this card way back in October!) so the poinsettia has a lovely soft texture but normal Whisper White cardstock will produce an excellent result!

A simple Christmas card with a Rooted in Nature poinsettia

This is in fact a very simple card!  Simply layer a couple of sheets of the stunning Frosted Florals Specialty Designer Series Paper, add a piece of Tranquil Tide Velvet Ribbon, a greeting and the poinsettia made with leaves from the Rooted in Nature Bundle.

TIP:  I stick the leaves to a punched circle of cardstock (any scrap will do - it doesn't show!).

Delightfully Detailed Brusho and Poinsettia

This is a card of leftovers and rejects! ... But I think they work together quite well!

A leftover poinsettia and rejected Brusho background working together to make a fun Christmas card

Behind the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut panel is a Brusho background that was a reject for this card.  It came out too strong and too stripey but works really well behind the laser cut paper.

The leaves for the poinsettia were left over from this card.  Since they're all the smaller leaves, it's a smaller flower.  I used the exact same technique to make the flower, as described by the amazing Jessie Holton (a fellow Crazy Crafter).

I used Stampin' Markers to ink up the label and sponged the edges with Poppy Parade ink after punching the label with the punch in the Christmas Traditions Punch Box.

Layered Poinsettia Christmas Card

Layering is such a great way to create a luxurious looking card whilst using up those pesky little oddments that you don't want to throw away!

Gold, copper, granite and merlot - a luxurious combination!

Each of the leaves in the Poinsettia were gold heat embossed onto Vellum and then coloured on the back with Stampin' Blends in green and red.

I then scored them down the middle and pressed the fold with my bone folder before building and adhering the poinsettia following the instructions set out by my friend and fellow Crazy Crafter, the talented Jessie Holton.

I added a leftover strip of the gorgeous paper inside the card too

Poinsettia Christmas Packaging

Even though the wrapping is always torn off very rapidly - I do like to try my best to wrap Christmas gifts as well as I'm able (and time allows!)

A poinsettia made with the Eastern Medallions dies really dresses up this little Christmas Present

This little bar of chocolate in it's plain gold wrapping looks a lot more festive with the addition of a "poinsettia" which happened to be left over from this card!

It really is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas and I'm so unprepared"!

Holly & Poinsettias in Neutral

On Wednesday I shared a similar card with traditional colours.  I did a couple of things differently this time to give this card a more contemporary look.

Soft Neutral colours also work well for a holly & poinsettia Christmas card

The base card is Thick Very Vanilla and I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with the Holly embossing folder.  This time, I used the reverse side of the embossed piece (so that the holly pattern is debossed) and swiped a Crumb Cake ink pad over the piece.

I used the Eastern Medallions and Blossom Builder Punch again to make the "poinsettias" but this time using Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake cardstock.  The centres are very pale Daffodil Glitter Enamel Dots.

I used Early Espresso ink (stamped off) for the label and crumb cake ink for the holly leaves.  The holly berries are Early Espresso ink on Early Espresso cardstock.

Holly & Poinsettias

Whilst I love all Christmas cards - I'll always have a soft spot for the traditional!

An ink resist background with the Holly embossing folder and Real Red flowers
make for a traditional and elegant Christmas card 

The "poinsettias" are made with an Eastern Medallions die and the Blossom Builder Punch with centres of Gold Faceted Gems.

I used the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set for the holly and cut it out with the coordinating  Holly Builder Punch to fill the corner and inked up the Labels to Love greeting with Stampin' Write Markers then used the coordinating Everyday Label punch to cut it out.  

The base card is Real Red with a layer of Pear Pizzazz.  So that brings us to the decorative layer.

I embossed a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock with the Holly Embossing Folder.  Leaving it in position in the folder, I ran a white wax crayon over the raised areas.  I then swiped a Tranquil Tide ink pad over the piece.  The wax resists the ink.

On Wednesday I'll share a variant of this card with more contemporary colours.
