Starlight Navy & Silver

This is an embarrassingly simple card, but very effective.

An embarrassingly easy Christmas Card using the Star of Light Bundle

To the base card of Night of Navy, add a layer of Smoky Slate. Cut a the top layer from Night of Navy cardstock, rub it thoroughly with an Embossing Buddy then, using Versamark, randomly stamp the swirly image from the Star of Light stamp set. Sprinkle with silver embossing powder and heat.

The top layer can then be adhered to the card.

Cut a piece of Silver Foil Sheet with the large plain star from the Starlight Thinlits set. Then cut the detailed star from Silver Glimmer Paper and adhere it to the Silver Foil star. Glue a sequin from the Brights Sequin Assortment to the centre of the star (the Fine Tip Glue Pen is good for this job) and adhere the finished star to the card with dimensionals.

Using Stazon ink, stamp the banner greeting from the Seasonal Bells stamp set onto Silver Foil Sheet and cut it out with the matching Bunch of Banners framelit. Adhere the banner to the card with some dimensionals.

How easy was that?!

Star of Light spinner

I haven't made a video of the action, but this is a spinner card, so the snow flake spins around in its circular track.

Spinner (or Slider) cards are so easy to make with the Sliding Star Framelits!

It looks complicated and clever but, in fact, it couldn't be easier! The most complicated thing about it is that this interactive card style is known as both a spinner card and a slider card! The Sliding Star Framelits set does all the hard work - all that's left is to decorate and get the mechanism going with some Foam Adhesive Strip, a couple of 5c coins and some Stampin' Dimensionals!

There are lots of great tutorials available but I like this one by Tami White. The only tips I would add are:

To help ensure that the middle circle is completely centred, temporarily keep the frame shape (that we don't use for this card) in position, then remove it once the middle circle is positioned.
I keep that frame for a future project - you never know when it might come in handy!

Before I started making this card, I wiped my Embossing Buddy over a piece of Night of Navy cardstock (already cut to size) and randomly stamped stars from the Star of Light stamp set with Versamark. Having sprinkled with silver embossing powder, I heat embossed it.

I used one of the Starlight Thinlits Dies with Silver Foil Sheet to cut the star and then cut one of the smaller stars from Silver Glimmer paper for the centre of the star. I glued my star to a small square of Night of Navy cardstock. Simply because it was sitting right next to my Big Shot, I used the smallest of the Layering Squares dies but you could just as easily cut a small square with your Stampin' Trimmer! I found that little square necessary to hide the coin underneath.

The greeting is from the Seasonal Bells stamp set. I stamped it onto Silver Foil Sheet with Stazon ink and then cut it out with the matching dies from the Bunch of Banners Framelits set.

Christmas Star Diamond Fold

In class today I was teaching a diamond fold card I had made previously. I made a card base myself to demonstrate the method and after class I used the Star of Light Bundle to quickly finish the card.

Red, black and silver are quite a dramatic combination

I added a layer of Silver Foil Sheet followed by a layer of Basic Black cardstock. For the side pieces, I heat embossed the swirl in silver before I stuck them into position.

I heat embossed the star onto Silver Foil Sheet using the lovely Red Glitter Embossing Powder before cutting it out with the matching die. I adhered the star to the centre of the card and added a few silver sequins from the Metallic Sequin Assortment. I placed a silver sequin to the centre of the star and placed a Real Red Enamel Dot into the middle of it.

I heat embossed two smaller stars in the same way as the large star and cut them out with the matching die and I also used the smallest star die to cut some Silver Foil Sheet. I adhered these to the side pieces with some more silver sequins.

The card is so bouncy that I had to used clips to hold it closed for the photograph!

Star of Light Card Set

To form part of a very belated birthday gift for a friend, I decided to make set of Christmas cards because I thought she might find them useful in just a few short weeks!

The box hold four cards and envelopes featuring the Star of Light Bundle

The Star of Light Bundle was the first thing to hit my shopping list when I saw it in the catalogue - it's just so pretty and versatile with so many great greetings! The starry flourish or "swish" as I like to call it, is particularly versatile and can be used for just about any occasion. Between the dies and stamps, it's so easy to create an enormous variety of starry decorations that never fail to be pretty.

These are the colours I used, along with Silver:

The silver heat embossing looks much brighter and prettier in person!

To create some dimension, without fiddling with little pieces of foam adhesive, I cut several stars from scrap cardstock and glued them together, placing the decorative star on top.

I used Dapper Denim ink on this one

I made the box in a couple of minutes with the Envelope Punch Board

To create the banner, I first cut out the greeting with the banner from the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits, then used the method I describe here to trim the length down to size and also trimmed a little from each long edge. I then cut another banner in Dapper Denim and trimmed the length to size.
