Christmas slider card

I combined the Ready For Christmas and Cookie Cutter Christmas sets to create an interactive slider card.

Santa, the gifts and baubles were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.

To achieve the two tones for the garland on the stairs, I first patted the stamp into the Granny Apple Green ink and then added some Tranquil Tide with a Stampin' Write Marker before stamping the image. I finished with a light sponging of Lemon Lime Twist to the edges.

Likewise, the christmas tree fronds were all cut in both Granny Apple Green and Tranquil Tide and slightly offset.

I used a die in the Bouquet Bunch Framelits set to cut the slot and followed a tutorial by Julie Masse at SplitCoastStampers for the basic Pull-Tab slider mechanism.

Sitting here, the cat

This card is part of the Crazy Crafters Project Highlights this week. Click here to see all the great cards and vote for your favourites.

I made this for dear friends who have had to say goodbye to their much loved Tonkinese cat of 17 years. I think most of us know of the pain caused by farewelling our pets who become one of the family.

Ready for his upward journey, the cat snuggles into a soft white cloud

This is one of those card designs that woke me up in the early hours - and, fortunately, I didn't forget it.

I kept the card quite simple so that the cat, who I tried to make resemble Kahlua (can you guess the family favourite tipple of 17 years ago?), would be the star of the show.

A message of support is revealed as the tag is pulled

The base card is Dapper Denim to which I added a layer of Whisper White. The top layer (with slider mechanism) is a piece of the new Colour Theory Designer Series Paper in Dapper Denim.

The slider strip is Marina Mist with a top of Whisper White. The top is punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper. I made the "with warmth & caring" greeting from a stamp in the Flourishing Phrases set, with the judicious use of washi tape. Sadly, the Dapper Denim ribbon I used has just retired.

The clouds are Whisper White, cut with dies from the Up & Away thinlit set.

As close to a beautiful, glossy sable Tonkinese cat as I could get

I stamped the cat from the Sitting Here stamp set with Crumb Cake ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock. I then adapted the image using Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Powder Pink, Early Espresso Stampin' Write Markers. I then added some highlights with a little bit of Whisper White Craft Ink. For the eyes I used some Whisper White and then a little touch with the Lemon Lime Twist marker.

Once coloured, I fussy cut the cat and adhered him to a cloud.

Star of Light spinner

I haven't made a video of the action, but this is a spinner card, so the snow flake spins around in its circular track.

Spinner (or Slider) cards are so easy to make with the Sliding Star Framelits!

It looks complicated and clever but, in fact, it couldn't be easier! The most complicated thing about it is that this interactive card style is known as both a spinner card and a slider card! The Sliding Star Framelits set does all the hard work - all that's left is to decorate and get the mechanism going with some Foam Adhesive Strip, a couple of 5c coins and some Stampin' Dimensionals!

There are lots of great tutorials available but I like this one by Tami White. The only tips I would add are:

To help ensure that the middle circle is completely centred, temporarily keep the frame shape (that we don't use for this card) in position, then remove it once the middle circle is positioned.
I keep that frame for a future project - you never know when it might come in handy!

Before I started making this card, I wiped my Embossing Buddy over a piece of Night of Navy cardstock (already cut to size) and randomly stamped stars from the Star of Light stamp set with Versamark. Having sprinkled with silver embossing powder, I heat embossed it.

I used one of the Starlight Thinlits Dies with Silver Foil Sheet to cut the star and then cut one of the smaller stars from Silver Glimmer paper for the centre of the star. I glued my star to a small square of Night of Navy cardstock. Simply because it was sitting right next to my Big Shot, I used the smallest of the Layering Squares dies but you could just as easily cut a small square with your Stampin' Trimmer! I found that little square necessary to hide the coin underneath.

The greeting is from the Seasonal Bells stamp set. I stamped it onto Silver Foil Sheet with Stazon ink and then cut it out with the matching dies from the Bunch of Banners Framelits set.

Father Christmas Spinner Card

So this is my first ever spinner card! Better late than never, I guess!

Santa has his sack nice and close to him.

If you slide the sack across with a finger - it stays facing up. Or, you can just tip the card and it spins around as it moves across the page - lucky everything stays in the sack!

The sack seems to be getting away from poor Santa!

I stamped the images from Father Christmas onto Shimmery White cardstock with Archival Basic Black ink and then coloured them with Stampin' Write Markers (I used Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Pink Pirouette, Delightful Dijon, Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, Garden Green, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Basic Black, Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso). There's a touch of Gold Wink of Stella on the watch and trumpet and Clear Wink of Stella on the train.

I chose the Shimmery White cardstock because it's pretty and easy to stamp and colour but at the same time it's heavier weight than Whisper White cardstock

Once coloured, I then cut out the two images.

Stampin' Write Markers are easy to use and give lovely strong colours for a Christmas card

I made the Real Red card by folding an A5 piece of card in half. I cut a layer of Shimmery White cardstock to size and then cut a slightly smaller Whisper White piece which I adhered to the card front so that the slider slot would appear white.

I cut the spinner slot using a die from the Sliding Star Framelits set and then embossed it with the Softly Falling embossing folder. It's important to cut first and then emboss otherwise the embossing would be flattened when being run through the Big Shot again to die cut.

I placed Foam Adhesive Strips on the back of the embossed and die cut piece of card - taking care to leave enough space around the slot for a 5c coin to run freely. I then adhered the piece to the card front (over the Whisper White piece) with a 5c coin under the slot.

I placed a dimensional in the centre of the 5c piece and stuck another 5c piece on top. I then adhered the sack image to the 5c piece with another dimensional.

I attached the image of santa at one end of the slot using dimensionals.

I stamped the greeting from the Star of Light stamp set with Basic Black ink onto Whisper White card and cut it out with the banner from the Bunch of Banners set. Using Real Red cardstock, I then cut the banner from the Cupcake Cutouts Framelits, folded it and attached the greeting before adhering it to the card front with dimensionals.
