Painted Poppy Textures - A 90th Birthday Card

A bright card with textures for someone with little sight

This card is for my mother-in-law's 90th birthday.  She has very little sight now and so I've tried to incorporate textures and bright colours.

I watercoloured the poppy using the same method as outlined here.

I resorted to my retired little numbers dies for the age statement.

Sadly, it won't be the celebratory occasion that we had hoped for but as she often says "this too shall pass".

Mercury Glass Acetate, Tin Tile and Detailed Deer

A Christmas card featuring a panel of Mercury Glass Acetate backed by Copper Foil Sheet

Here's an idea for a quick, simple but effective Christmas card - or change the die cut and sentiment to make a card for any occasion!

The base card is Smoky Slate to which I've added layers of Basic Black and Pretty Peacock.  I used the Tin Tile Embossing Folder to add some texture and pattern to the Pretty Peacock layer.

I cut pieces of Copper Foil Sheet and Mercury Glass Designer Acetate to the same size and adhered the acetate on top of the copper.
TIPS:  I found I could get away with using the tape type of adhesive - I added it to the back of the acetate around the edges.  Remember to peel away the protective layer from the acetate before you use it!

I popped the resulting silver and copper background onto a layer of Basic Black and adhered to the card front.

In order to continue the shiny theme, I cut the deer from Black Foil Sheet but I'm sure Basic Black cardstock would also work well.  Having glued the deer to the centre panel, I added a Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewel for an eye.

I cut one of the greetings from the roll of Classic Weave Ribbon.  It needed a bit more oomph, so I kept it simple by adding a couple of strips of Mint Macaron ribbon and some more of those Holiday Rhinestones.

Tin Tile Daisy Delight

A very simple card using the Daisy Delight stamp, Daisy punch and Tin Tile 3D embossing folder

There's really not a lot to say about this card - it's very simple!

The daisy is stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink on three shades of cardstock: Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry and Purple Posy - each cut out with the Daisy Punch.

The background is a piece of the gorgeous Noble Peacock Foil Sheet embossed with the Tin Tile 3D embossing folder.

I cut a scrap of Rich Razzleberry card to size and wrapped some of the ribbon around it.

Glitter Enamel Dots make up the centre of the flower which is attached with a Stampin' Dimensional.

What attracted me to this card of Zahra's (see left) were the strips of different coloured card, placed together and embossed.  I also thought the layout would really suit a Christmas card.

So here's my version!

A colourful and playful Christmas Card featuring Shimmer Paint and the Tin Tile embossi

The cardstock strips are Soft Sea Foam, Petal Pink, Poppy Parade and Shaded Spruce.  I attached the 1.5" strips to a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and then ran the piece through the Big Shot in the new Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder.  I then adhered this to the Thick Very Vanilla card base and added the bauble, ribbon, label and the word "Christmas" cut from Gold Foil Sheet.

The bauble is from the Beautiful Baubles stamp set and I gold heat embossed it onto Vanilla Cardstock.  It has a beautiful shimmery finish (hard to capture in the photograph) because I painted it with Shimmer Paint.  I placed some White Frost Shimmer Paint onto an acrylic block that I use as a palette and added a couple of drops of Shaded Spruce Ink Refill, creating a lighter shade and a darker shade by adding more or less of the ink.  

I also used a little of the Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint in a few areas.

I used my snips to hand cut out the bauble before gluing it to the card front.

Both the stamped and die-cut parts of the greeting are from the Merry Christmas To All bundle.  

To soften the empty space, I added some Faceted Dots.
