Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - 2019 Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peek - Beautiful Boughs

Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer (The Crafty Thinker) from Australia.

Our theme this month is to provide sneak peeks from the new 2019 Holiday Catalogue.  I've chosen to use some of the stunning Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Beautiful Boughs Dies.  There are also some sneaky appearances by the  Ice Stampin' Glitter and one of the Ornate Frames dies.

A Christmas Card providing sneak peeks of the Feels Like Frost paper and Beautiful Boughs Dies
The Feels Like Frost papers represent amazing value for money as well as being totally stunning!  There are 48 double-sided sheets of 6"x 6" paper in the pack.  One side of each has Christmas-y designs with silver foil and the other side has beautiful, ethereal photographic imagery.  Whilst the photographic images are wintry in nature, they would be suitable for various purposes, not just Christmas, which makes the paper very versatile.

The Beautiful Boughs Dies can be purchased in a bundle with the equally gorgeous Peaceful Boughs stamp set at a discount of 10%.  Whilst I have chosen to use the dies with Foil Sheets, when used with green and brown cardstock they provide an equally gorgeous but more natural look.

Another thing that attracted me to this die set is that it includes a couple of gorgeous labels that perfectly fit the sentiments included in the stamp set.  And ... those sentiments are ones that I can see myself using on most of my Christmas cards this year.  Although, somewhat ironically, I haven't used either on this particular card!

The Ice Stampin' Glitter has a sort of granular texture and gives the effect of snow and ice crystals.  I've adhered it with a Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  TIP:  Avoid my mistake by adding the glitter to the foliage before adhering to the card front.  Mine was an after-thought and the glitter also stuck itself to little bits of glue that transferred to the card front when I adhered everything to it.

The greeting that I've used is from a stamp set called Itty Bitty Christmas that comprises 18 different Christmas greetings.  I cut it out with one of the Ornate Frames Dies.  This die set comprises 11 small frame dies suitable for any type of card.

Thank you for visiting.  I hope you enjoyed this card.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer - please click on the next person on the list below to hop through all of the people so that you see all of the projects.  You don't want to miss any!

Elfie Against a Basic Pattern - A Christmas Card

I just love these elves - they're cute, fun to colour and versatile when it comes to card design and composition.  This is a sneak peek of a couple of items in the new Holiday Catalogue.

A Christmas card featuring sneak peeks from the 2019 Stampin' Up Holiday Catalogue
#Elfie stampset and Basic Pattern Decorative Masks
I chose to fussy cut these images and place them on my card because this card design was really about the background.

For the background I used one of the new Basic Pattern Decorative Masks.  Having placed it onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, I spritzed it with a solution of Bermuda Bay ink.  I then quickly, but carefully, lifted off the mask and allowed the background to dry.  The mask just rinses clean and I leave it to dry ready for the next use.  I added quite a bit of water this time so the colour came out more like Pool Party.

TIP:  To make the spritzing solution, I simply placed a few drops of Bermuda Bay ink from a refill bottle into a Stampin' Spritzer and filled with water then gave it a shake.  I keep a few of my favourite colours in spritzers - but I make sure to label them!

I coloured the images with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers and I cut out the sentiment with frames from the Frosted Bouquet Die set.

Items from the new Holiday Catalogue:
#Elfie (page 22 - 150509)
Basic Pattern Decorative Masks (page 35 - 150697)

Over the next week, I'll be sharing more projects that I've made using the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks - another really versatile craft tool!

Thank you for visiting.

Noble Peacock Tea Together

When going through a serious illness and treatment; with all the anxiety, side-effects and low spirits that go with it - a simple cup of tea with a loving friend really is the best medicine.

This is a thank you card to all of my friends who have been and continue to support me through this odeal.

I find cards almost make themselves when I get out the gorgeous Noble Peacock papers

The yellow oval was already sitting on my table (discarded from a previous card, probably some months ago!) and the rest just created itself.

Springtime Impressions of Butterfly Beauty

I'll admit right now that this card didn't come out as I'd hoped and I'm really unhappy with the result.  However, creativity and radiation don't seem to mix well for me so I'm presenting it anyway, with apologies.

Springtime Impressions and Butterfly Beauty
I ran a piece of Highland Heather cardstock through the big shot, set up for embossing, with the Springtime Impressions piece and then heavily spritzed it with water before gently dabbing on Gorgeous Grape and Bermuda Bay ink before leaving it to dry.

Since I wasn't happy, I repeated the spritzing and inking a few times.  Then, once thoroughly dry, I also added a little ink with a sponge for good measure!  I also added a touch of Frost White Shimmer Paint - but it doesn't show up in the photo!

The butterflies are cut using the Butterfly Beauty dies and the sentiment (stamped with Gorgeous Grape) is from the Free As A Bird stamp set.

Free As A Bird Against Painted Glass

In the midst of cancer treatment, my thoughts have been turning more and more frequently to escape!  On this particular day I was thinking about the tragedy of the fire damage to Notre Dame in Paris and was inspired to use the Painted Glass stamp set.

Freedom and escape were in my thoughts as I created this card with the Free As A Bird and Painted Glass stamp sets
For me, the bird (from the Free As A Bird stamp set) represents freedom, escape and hope as it sits on the branch, poised to fly off, with not a thought in its head except finding the next meal!

Thank you for visiting (and your patience).
