Stampin' Dream Blog Hop: Carry Over Products - High Tide

I have chosen to use the High Tide stamp set, which is so good for masculine cards and this will be my card for my husband's birthday!  I have paired it with some of the great new products in the catalogue.

For the clouds, I used the new Pattern Party masks and dabbed on several layers of Whisper White Craft ink with a sponge dauber - adding more white to the top of the clouds.

I cut off a little more than half of the front of the card and replaced it with a piece of Window Sheet to which I added a strip of Sahara Sand at the bottom.

I stamped the Sahara Sand strip with the rocks/pebbles with Soft Suede ink and then sponged that area with some Crumb Cake Ink.  I sponged the rest of the strip with Lemon Lime Twist and stamped some grass with Tranquil Tide ink.  I then cut some of the foliage from the Bouquet Bunch framelits in Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist card.  I trimmed the Tranquil Tide pieces and then added the pieces, overlapping them, with the help of the Fine Tipped Glue Pen. 

I had previously stamped the lighthouse onto Whisper White cardstock with Basic Gray and Real Red inks and cut it out.  I glued it into place on the front of the card.

Use of the Window Sheet keeps the card sturdy

I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to size for the inside of the card, masked off the area I wanted to colour and then sponged with Tempting Turquoise ink with a touch of Night of Navy towards the bottom.  I then stamped the sea with Pacific Point ink and added the birds with Basic Gray ink.

If I repeat this design, I might take the sea further down the inside panel so that only sea is showing when the card is standing open.

The birthday greeting is from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set and is stamped with Tempting Turquoise ink.

Masculine Split Card - Sneak Peek Floral Affection Embossing Folder

This is another card that I made in preparation for the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Dena Rekow that I didn't use and ended up orphaned!  I do like it though - so it should have it's time in the spotlight.

A masculine split card

I used Dena's instructions to make the split card from Basic Gray cardstock, which I layered with Whisper White before adding a layer of paper from the new Affectionately Yours DSP pack.

I cut a piece of Basic Gray cardstock and embossed it with one of the new Floral Affection embossing folders (there are two in the pack that will be released on 1 June).  Then I used a round corner punch.

I stamped the birthday greeting from Wetlands with Basic Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the Scallop Oval punch.  This punch is retiring but from 1 June there will be scallop oval framelits available in the new Layering Ovals Framelits.

Having glued the birthday greeting to the embossed layer, I attached it to the two pieces of the card front.

I added a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock to the inside of the card which shows through to the front, creating a soft but masculine appearance to the card.

Floral Affection Split Card

This card is entered into the Crazy Crafters Project Highlights.  To vote for it and to see all the other great projects click on the link.

On Sunday 8 May, I participated in the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Dena Rekow as our guest stamper where we CASE'd one of Dena's projects.  I decided to do a split card and had so much fun with it that I ended up making several cards and then having to decide which one to include in the Blog Hop!

This split card features the new In colour, Emerald Envy and the new
Floral Affection embossing folder

This was one of the cards that I didn't include in that Blog Hop but I like it enough to share it with you anyway.  So "thank you" once again to Dena Rekow for the inspiration and tutorial on split cards.

I used the new In Colour Emerald Envy for this card and layered it with some Mint Macaron DSP from the 2015-2017 In Colour DSP Stack.

I used Lots of Labels framelits to cut a layer of Whisper White and a smaller layer of Emerald Envy.  Then I embossed the green layer with one of the new embossing folders from the Floral Affection Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (there are two small folders in the set that will be available on 1 June).

Such an impressive design - so easy to do!

I used a Basic Gray Stampin' Write Marker and some Whisper White Craft ink to colour the embossed section before adhering it to the white layer and using this panel to attach the two parts of the split card.  

Last, but not least, I added some Rhinestone Jewels to the flower centres.

Crazy Crafters May Blog Hop - CASE-ing Dena Plummer Rekow

I found it hard to decide on a project to CASE because Dena has just so many great cards on her site!  Eventually I chose the split card because they look amazing and I've never made one before!

Well, let me tell you - they're addictive!  They come together so quickly and easily and they're FUN!

So then I was faced with another decision - which one of the many I'd made to include here in the blog hop!  Eventually I chose this coppery beauty!  I'll show you the others in future posts.

The copper heat embossing works so well with this image!

 
This is my favourite paper in the new DSP pack Affectionately Yours.  I love the elegant richness of the copper foil with the Crumb Cake background and I wanted to use lots of it so that it could really shine!  As the Crazy Crafters say these days #loveitchopit - if you love a paper - rather than hoard it and hide it away - let it have it's moment of glory and then buy more! 

I used one of the Botanical Builders dies to split my card.  I couldn't bear to waste any of that gorgeous paper, so I used the leftover bit on another card - which I'll share here on my blog soon - keep your eyes peeled and see if you can spot it!

I heat embossed the flower from the You've Got This stamp set with the new copper embossing powder - I'm so in love with that!  You'll see in coming days that I've become quite obsessed with making things copper!

I used some Early Espresso ink to watercolour the flower and then used one of the Lots of Labels Framelits and the out of the box technique to cut it out.  I layered it onto some Early Espresso cardstock cut with a larger framelit from the same set before adhering the panel in place to hold the two pieces of the card together.
    

The watermarks add a little interest to the inside of the card

I then added a layer of Cajun Craze to the inside of the card and stamped it with Versamark.

I had several cards sitting in the kitchen, waiting to be photographed when a friend of mine came over for coffee and to make her very first card ... ever!  I have to admit that my heart sank a bit when she said she loved this card and would like to make one like it.  I thought about the heat embossing, the split card, out of the box technique, water colouring, precision die cutting ... and was worried about the outcome.  For no reason, as it turned out! 

I have her permission to show you just what an amazing student she turned out to be.  This is Victoria's card - remember... it's the first card she has ever made!
   

Not only did she excel but, in my opinion, she has exceeded the teacher!  I really like that she cut a wider split in the card.  And how well does the gift that she's pairing with it go with the card!  You are amazing, Victoria!
