Very Versailles Thank You

Very Versailles with Painted Poppies "splodges"!

I love the images in the Very Versailles stamp set - so I can't really understand why it's one of the most under-utilised sets in my collection.  Time to correct that!

I stamped the frame image with Terracotta Tile ink and covered it with a mask before stamping the script image in the same ink but stamped off once (tap the stamp into the ink, stamp onto a scrap piece of paper and then stamp onto the project). 

I then stamped the foliage and lace with Shaded Spruce ink.  Using one of the "splodge" stamps from the Painted Poppies stamp set, I tapped into Shaded Spruce ink, stamped off once (see above) and then randomly stamped around the edges of the project until I ran out of ink.  I repeated this process until I was satisfied with the balance.

Having removed the mask, I stamped the greeting with Shaded Spruce ink.

The base card is Shaded Spruce and there's a layer of Terracotta Tile.  

The final touch was to add some Adhesive Backed Sequins in the luminescent pale green shade.

Ink it! Stamp it! International Design Team Blog Hop - Technique: Masking, a masculine card

Today we are sharing techniques and I have chosen masking to create a little scene.

A masculine card using the Masking Technique to create a little scene with the
Enjoy Life and Winter Woods stamp sets

I first stamped the cyclist with black ink, masked that image and then stamped the trees with Basic Gray ink.  Having removed the mask, I stamped the grass - also with Basic Gray ink.

I used a piece of Braided Linen Trim behind the label having first dragged my black ink pad over it.

TIPS:

• To get the intensity of black that I wanted, I stamped several times using my Stamparatus to ensure precision.
  
• I stamped two rows of trees, the second slightly above and to one side of the first.
  
• I darkened the foreground a little by gently sponging black ink along the bottom of the stamped card.

Home to Roost with Burlap - A masculine card

It's taken me a while to get to use this gorgeous fellow!  This is the Home To Roost stamp set and it's FREE (until 31st March) with a $90 product purchase!  I think it makes a nice masculine card.

The base card is Night of Navy and there are layers of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.  I added a piece of Burlap Ribbon and tied a bow with a little bit that I'd pulled out of the ribbon.

I stamped the rooster onto Very Vanilla cardstock with Night of Navy ink, masked him and then stamped the grasses with Soft Suede ink.

Having removed the mask, I coloured the rooster with Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers.  I used Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy.

Brusho Flourish

Sometimes mistakes end up enhancing a card!

In just a few short weeks (31st May) the 2016-2018 In-Colours will be retiring and I started my quest to use them up with a base card in Dapper Denim.

I used masking on Whisper White cardstock to create a decorative strip with Brusho Crystal Colour (I used the blue, yellow and green), however, the colour seeped under the tape.  I think it worked out for the best, though, because I covered up the leaks with strips of Copper Foil Sheet and love the effect!

Using Silver Foil Sheet (with Multi-Purpose Adhesive Sheet applied to the back) I cut the focal point with the Flourish Thinlits and stamped the greeting  from Birthday Blossom in Dapper Denim ink.

Birthday Blooms Pattern Party

Regular visitors to my blog posts will know just how much I love to use the Birthday Blooms stamp set - it's one of my all time favourites.   However, before today, I had never used the little flower in the set!

Finally got around to using the small flower from my favourite stamp set - Birthday Blooms

The steps I took:

1. Mixed a few drops of Perfect Plum ink with a small amount of water and soaked a length of Whisper White Classic Weave ribbon which I then hung to dry.
    
2. Cut a circle from a Post It Note with the 1 3/4" circle punch and positioned it on my piece of Sahara Sand cardstock.
3. Cut a mask from Window Sheet with the Eclectic Layers Thinlit.
4. Coloured some Embossing Paste with a few drops of Powder Pink Ink Refill
5. Smooshed the coloured embossing paste through the mask onto the lower part of the card.
6. Speeded up the drying process (normally about 10 minutes) with a heat tool.
7. Positioned the Pattern Party mask and smooshed the coloured Embossing Paste through it onto the top part of the card.
8. Removed the circular mask.
9. When the paste was dry, stamped the circle from the Eastern Beauty stamp set and the greeting from the Ribbon of Courage Stamp set, using Elegant Eggplant ink.
    
10. Using the flower from the Birthday Blooms stamp set, tapped into Versamark followed by Sahara Sand ink and stamped onto Whisper White cardstock.
11. Added clear embossing powder and set with the heat tool.
12. Watercoloured the flowers using Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Lemon Lime Twist and Wild Wasabi inks.
13. Fussy cut the flowers and added them to the card front with some glue dots.
     
14. Added my Perfect Plum ribbon (see step 1) to the card and made a bow which I attached with glue dots.
15. Attached my decorative piece to the Elegant Eggplant base card
16. Added a few Perfect Plum Enamel Shapes.
