Prized Peony die cut flower on Plush Poinsettia paper

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #minicatalogue #peonydies #plushpoinsettia , Mini Catalogue, Plush Poinsettia, Peony Dies, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
I like the versatility of many of the items in the latest Mini Catalogue
It's not all Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween!

There's always a niggling concern in my mind that the Mini Catalogue is going to be only about Christmas, Thanksgiving (which is not an Australian holiday) and Halloween (also not widely celebrated in Australia).

So it gives me a lot of pleasure to find the versatile products.

The background for this card is one of the designs in the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper pack.  I've combined it with the Peony Dies to make  pretty birthday card.

The banner under the peony was created with the Banners Pick A Punch with is an incredibly useful tool!  And I added some Elegant Faceted Gems and Snowflake Spendour ribbon for bling!

Items from the August-December Mini Catalogue will become available in my online store next week.

Thank you for visiting.
'Til next time!

Poinsettia Petals Bundle with Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper in traditional colours

Following on from Friday's card, more fun with the Poinsettia Petals Bundle from the Poinsettia Place Suite.

This time I heat embossed the images from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set and cut them out with the coordinating Poinsettia Dies before arranging them onto a layer of the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper.

For both cards I used Cherry Cobbler cardstock and cut the label out with one of the Ornate Frames dies.  For the top card I also used Shaded Spruce card and ink, All The Trimmings ribbon and Wonderful Gems

I love how easy it is to create a lovely card with the Peaceful Poppies Suite!
I was really excited when my Peaceful Poppies Suite of products arrived this week, so immediately put together a bunch of flowers and foliage which led to three cards.  This is the first.

Thank you for visiting.

Painted Poppy Black & White Variations

A simple black & white card created with the Painted Poppies stamp set - Stampin' Up Mini Catalogue 2020
These are the variations of the Painted Poppies card I shared on Friday.  They couldn't be simpler!

I simply white heat embossed the image (twice) onto my Basic Black card and then heat embossed the greeting from Butterfly Wishes.

This Painted Poppies card is white heat embossed onto black card
and then painted with Whisper White craft ink tinted with Cherry Cobbler ink
Then, as another variation, I painted the poppies with a mix of Whisper White Craft Ink and a touch of Cherry Cobbler ink.

TIPS:
  • The craft ink is slow drying and easy to smudge so, if you're right handed, work from left to right and top to bottom when painting.
  • The tonal contrast with the black card is so great that you will get a rather translucent result.  This can be mitigated by adding more layers of ink - allowing the ink to dry between coats.
  • I found the best way to clean up the white, heat embossed lines after painting was with a cotton bud to minimise  the "halo" effect of smudged craft ink.
  • I stamped with the craft ink rather than Versamark before adding the white embossing powder.  Both work well, I just find the white easier to see.

Painted Poppy Masked Strip

Happy New Year to you all!  May 2020 be happy, healthy and fulfilling for you.

The first card for a new decade!  So I used a new stamp set from the new Mini Catalogue.
#thecraftythinker #stampinup #paintedpoppies #minicatalogue #cas #cardmaking , Painted Poppies, Masking, Sponging, CAS, Mini Catalogue 2020, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
A Clean and Simple card created with a bit of masking, sponging and the Painted Poppies stamp set
I seem to rarely make clean and simple cards so every so often I like to challenge myself.

I used the Extra Thick Whisper White cardstock to create my card and then sponged a masked strip with Seaside Spray and Call Me Clover inks.

Having stamped the poppy image twice with Stazon ink, I loosely watercoloured it with Cherry Cobbler ink (left over in my palate from Christmas cards!).

On Monday I'll be sharing a couple of black and white variations of this card.

Thank you for visiting.
