Project Life - On Stage Sydney 2016 & Sneak Peeks

The Striped 12" x 12" Project Life album

I'm so excited about Project Life right now! Why? Because I started using it.

I had this album sitting in my craft room for AGES, waiting patiently for me to get my act together and do something with it .... anything!

It's hard to say what had been stopping me - certainly I felt a bit intimidated but I'm not sure why- especially now I've tried it and realised how easy and quick it is and that there are no wrongs!

So my first foray into Project Life was this 12" x 12" album - it turned out to be the perfect way to keep all my memories, sneak peeks and product tests as well as all the beautiful swaps I came back with from Sydney On Stage!

The little red critter was a gift from one of my fellow Crazy Crafters and he's now very happily tethered to the ring binder.

This page is full of ideas that occurred to me as I was testing out some of the new products. They may turn up on cards in the future.

This fish is half out of water!

I quite fond of this little fish. I used the Bow Builder punch and Festive Flower Builder punch. The waves are cut with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. The background is the new In Colour, Flirty Flamingo. The DSP is from the new Pop of Pink pack.

Got to celebrate copper!

Clearly, I had to celebrate the new copper embossing powder! I just love it! The zigzag is from Work of Art, the word "Hooray" is from the new set "Perfectly Wrapped", as are the flowers. I hand wrote "For copper!" with a Versamark pen and copper embossed it.

This was a good place for me to start. I learned to not overthink and just do something and it broke my inertia!

From here I went on to make an album for each of two of my nieces as birthday gifts and I'll show you those in the next few days or so.

Pun Intended - Hostess Stamp Set

I had a very strange experience this morning!

I was quickly flicking through my social media when I was stopped in my tracks by a very familiar-looking card using the Pun Intended and Thoughtful Banners stamp sets and Pop of Pink DSP. It was very confusing because whilst I had made and photographed my card, I knew that I hadn't yet posted it anywhere!

Then I looked again, saw the subtle differences and realised that Bille Moan and I are clearly on the same wavelength because it was her card that I was looking at, not mine!

So then I was in a quandrary - do I still finish and publish my post or not?! As you can see - I decided to post. If at least two of us have had a similar idea at the same time, it must be a good idea - right?!

The layers are all Pop of Pink DSP.

The stamp set is one of the new hostess sets - Pun Intended - stamped in Basic Black onto Whisper White cardstock.

The camera panel and Basic Black Matt for it are cut with two of the Tags & Labels framelits. I trimmed the end of a dark strip of DSP with the Banner Triple Punch and stuck it to the back of this layer.

The Picture Perfect greeting was stamped onto a narrow strip of Whisper White cardstock and then I used one of the Project Life Cards & Labels framelits to trim each end (separately).

I stamped two of the banners from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set, curved the greeting Snappy Birthday to fit and stamped it into one of the banners. I hand cut just inside the lines of that banner and then trimmed the ends to a bit of a curve. The other banner I cut with the matching punch (I bought both as a bundle and saved 10%), sponged with Melon Mambo and then attached the greeting.

The picked out some pink sequins from the Brights Sequins Assortment and adhered three of them directly to the top panel (which is more white than black) with the Fine Tip Glue Pen.

I stuck White Perfect Accents onto the panels that were more black than white and then used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to stick the sequins (upside down) to the top of those white accents. I felt the sequins would get lost if I glued them directly to the dark DSP.

I didn't have any Melon Mambo ribbon, although I thought I did! I really wanted to add a Melon Mambo bow above the camera. So I broke off a length of Pop of Pink washi tape, folded it into a very narrow strip and made a bow with that.

DSP leftovers!

Since it's Friday, my card today is entered into the Crazy Crafters Project Highlights. Click here to see all the other entries and vote for your favourites.

This card started with a piece of Affectionately Yours DSP leftover from a previous card. The paper is too beautiful to waste any!

The Affectionately Yours DSP is just too gorgeous to hit the bin!

I layered my curvy piece of DSP onto some Night of Navy cardstock and then layered that onto some Crumb Cake cardstock which I placed on a Night of Navy card.

I quickly cut some decorations with the Botanical Builder framelits using Night of Navy, Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze cardstock.

To bring out the copper in the DSP, I copper heat embossed a small piece of Cajun Craze cardstock and cut out some flower centres .

I lightly sponged the edges of the Crumb Cake flower, assembled my decorations and finished with some Rhinestones.

Did you notice - there's no stamping on this card!

Sneak Peek - Baby Bear baby card

Yes, I've been using the adorable Baby Bear stamp set again! How could I resist? It's just so darn cute!

This is a baby card to celebrate the birth of a friend's latest granddaughter!

Looks like Baby Bear could do with a hug from little baby Clara!

This time I used three ink colours. The first layer is Sahara Sand, the middle layer is Crumb Cake and I finished with a layer of Early Espresso. I much prefer the darker last layer as it gives definition to the eyes and nose. I stamped Baby Bear onto Whisper White cardstock and then used one of the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut it out.

The bow is a two-step stamp process. I stamped onto whisper white cardstock and used Flirty Flamingo for the first layer and topped it with Watermelon Wonder. Then I fussy cut it and positioned it with a glue dot.

The base card is Flirty Flamingo - one of the gorgeous new In Colours for 2016-2018 that will be available in the new Annual Catalogue on 1 June. I've added layers of Watermelon Wonder cardstock and Affectionately Yours DSP (also a new product).

I cut a mat for the Baby Bear panel in Flirty Flamingo cardstock with the next size up Ovals Framelit.

I stamped the baby's name in Watermelon Wonder using the retiring Back to Basics Alphabet set and trimmed it into a banner using the Banner Triple Punch. I made a mat for it with Watermelon Wonder cardstock and popped the banner up on some dimensionals.

You've Got This layered card

I've made no secret of the fact that I'm obsessed with the new copper embossing powder - the evidence is irrefutable!

This card is really a variation on a theme, using more of my favourite Affectionately Yours DSP - remember ... #loveitchopit !

The base card is Early Espresso and the flower is adhered to an Early Espresso layer cut with the Lots of Labels framelits.

The Flower was heat embossed in copper on Crumb Cake cardstock and watercoloured with Early Espresso ink. I then fussy cut the flower. I added a bow of (retired) Crumb Cake ribbon.

I trimmed a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock to size and then cut the top with one end of the largest Lots of Labels framelits. I added a strip of Early Espresso and an offcut of the DSP to this layer.

I hand cut a banner end into a strip of Early Espresso and added it between the Cajun Craze and DSP layers for some extra definition.

I finished the card with some lovely copper brads. What? Copper? Yes! They're Antique Brads that have been "copperised"! Hold the brad with a pair of tweezers and coat it with versamark. Dip it into a pot of copper embossing powder and then use a heat tool - voila - a copper brad emerges! I'm so sad that the Antique Brads are retiring - I really like them ... copper or not!

Masculine Split Card - Sneak Peek Floral Affection Embossing Folder

This is another card that I made in preparation for the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Dena Rekow that I didn't use and ended up orphaned! I do like it though - so it should have it's time in the spotlight.

A masculine split card

I used Dena's instructions to make the split card from Basic Gray cardstock, which I layered with Whisper White before adding a layer of paper from the new Affectionately Yours DSP pack.

I cut a piece of Basic Gray cardstock and embossed it with one of the new Floral Affection embossing folders (there are two in the pack that will be released on 1 June). Then I used a round corner punch.

I stamped the birthday greeting from Wetlands with Basic Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the Scallop Oval punch. This punch is retiring but from 1 June there will be scallop oval framelits available in the new Layering Ovals Framelits.

Having glued the birthday greeting to the embossed layer, I attached it to the two pieces of the card front.

I added a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock to the inside of the card which shows through to the front, creating a soft but masculine appearance to the card.
