I loved looking through all the amazing cards on Meg's site and was tempted by many of them ... but I was particularly drawn to the post featuring these two cards because it appealed to my sense of thriftiness!

The Painted With Love Specialty Designer Series Paper is so gorgeous that the card doesn't need much else!

The Painted With Love Specialty Designer Series Paper is so beautiful that the card really doesn't need much more!  I cut some Calypso Coral cardstock with the Lovely Word thinlit and a Layering Oval framelit and attached it to a piece of Powder Pink cardstock also cut with the oval framelit.

I very carefully saved all the little bits of Calypso Coral cardstock to use in the next card.
Avoiding wastage by using the leftovers from the die cut

I layered the Calypso Coral pieces from the previous card onto a slightly larger Basic Grey oval - no wastage!

The glamour of the Painted With Love flower goes perfectly with the Painted With Love paper

I love the paper so much and was really enjoying that great multipurpose layout so I made this card as well!  The gorgeous flower from Beautiful Day is gold heat embossed onto a piece of scrapPowder Pink cardstock and cut out.

I then used Stampin' Blends alcohol markers to colour the flower before adhering it to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper and Beautiful Day stamp set are from the new Occasions Catalogue and will be available from 3rd January 2018 to 31st May 2018.

The True Gentleman Designer Series Paper is gorgeous ... in a very masculine way!
Can you guess for whom I made this card? !!!!

Hopefully the letters of the name look hewn in timber as Bruce is a great handyman!
This project started out as an eclipse card - I cut the letters out of the background paper - however, I then had a change of heart and decided to use the woodgrain paper for the letters as Bruce is an ace handyman!

The Early Espresso base card is 7.5" x 4" with a layer of  Sahara Sand followed by the layer of True Gentleman Designer Series Paper.  This is a sneak peek from the Occasions Catalogue which launches in just a few days on 3rd January!

Thank you for visiting.

Beautiful Day with Brusho- Sneak Peeks

I love the Brusho Colour Crystals in the new Occasions Catalogue and have been having fun experimenting.  In previous cards, I've made backgrounds and in this one I tried to use it in a slightly different way.
#thecraftythinker, #brushocolour, #sneakpeek, #cardmaking, #stampinup, Brusho Colour Crystals, Beautiful Day, Sneak Peek, Occasions Catalogue, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The Brusho Colour Crystals are so much fun to use and watch reacting with the water

The beautiful bold flower from the Beautiful Day stamp set was white heat embossed on watercolour paper.  I then brushed water onto the flower and sprinkled on a couple of different Brusho colours as well as green onto the leaf.

Once the flower had dried, I mixed some blue Brusho crystals with water on an acrylic block and used a damp paintbrush to apply the colour to the background - picking up more pigment and dropping it near the flower.

The greeting, from the same stamp set, is stamped in Dapper Denim ink and the panel was adhered to a Peekaboo Peach mat before being adhered to the Dapper Denim base card.

Both the stamp set and the Brusho Colours will be available from 3 January 2018 in the new Occasions Catalogue.

Thank you for visiting.

Card Front Builder Blocks Christmas Card

This card started life as experimentation with my new pot of Silver Embossing Paste (available on 3 January in the new Occasions Catalogue).

I cut Window Sheet stencils with dies in the Card Front Builder set.  Not very happy with my silver results, I repeated the process (using the same stencils) with the Shimmery White Embossing Paste to check the differences.

The Silver Embossing Paste is much runnier than either of the other two pastes and for this reason, I had less control of the paste and it kept squeezing its way under the stencil - to disastrous effect (as you'll see the photo below).

Comparison of Silver Embossing paste and Shimmery White Embossing Paste from Stampin' Up

I then tried out the Silver paste with one of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and had a much better result - perhaps because those stencils are little thicker and sturdier than my home made one and also have smaller "open" areas.  I used that test in this card.

When I used the Shimmery White Embossing Paste with my home made stencils, the seepage was very limited and easy to clean up.  There were originally smudged areas on the reindeer in the corner between the head and horns, between the hind legs and near the stomach. They looked very much like the area on the left of the tree.  Before the paste was completely dry, I gently scraped away the offending bits with the end of my Paper-Piercing tool and then finished the cleaning process with a barely damp small brush.

Thank you for visiting.

PS  I wish you all the joys of the season!

Hometown Greetings Slider Pop-up Money Holders

My thanks go to Phoebe Carr at Artsy Craftsy Phoebe for her tutorial, which I found easy to follow.  I simply changed some papers and colours.  I also chose to insert some folded cash instead of gift cards - mainly because I hadn't been sufficiently organised to have purchased the gift cards in time!

Now that I think of it - I didn't watch to make sure the recipients found their cash!  Oh well.....

A gift card would probably look better but cash works for the less organised such as I!

Welcome to the Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop - we hop every month so be sure to pop back and visit us again!  Today our theme is Sale-A-Bration and the Occasions Catalogue - such an exciting time in the Stampin' Up calendar!

You are currently at my page - Stephanie Fischer, The Crafty Thinker.  At the end of my post there is a full line up of team members, please click on the name after mine in the list to continue the hop.

As soon as I saw it, I completely fell in love with the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set and confess that I bumped up my purchases a bit so that I could get my hands on it!  It's one of the AMAZING products exclusive to the new Sale-A-Bration Catalogue that are free with qualifying orders.

I made easel cards because I happened to be demonstrating that fun fold in class and I've teamed that glorious image with a variety of Designer Series Papers from the current Annual Catalogue.
