Beautiful You Sunburst - Sneak Peek Occasions 2017

One of my beautiful nieces will be celebrating her birthday early in the New Year.  I've finally learned to make her card early enough to reach her despite Holiday mail times!
#thecraftythinker, Sneak Peek Occasions 2017, Beautiful You, Sunburst, Stampin' Up! Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
This gorgeous lady is from a stamp set in the 2017 Occasions Catalogue called "Beautiful You"

The focal image of the dancing lady is stamped with Basic Black ink onto Shimmery White cardstock and coloured with Watercolour Pencils and an Aqua Painter.  I then used the "out of the Box" technique to die cut her with one of the circle Stitched Shapes dies - leaving her lovely long limbs free to dance.  This piece is glued onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock cut with the largest of the Layering Circles framelits.

The sunburst is die cut using Silver Glimmer Paper and then adhered to a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.  I added a Basic Black mat and then adhered it to the base Rose Red base card (I actually wanted to use Melon Mambo but I'd run out of 12" square card in that colour!).  The base card is quite large at 8" x 12" folded in half to make 8" x 6".

The greeting is stamped in Basic Black onto Rose Red card and cut out with a square Stitched Shapes Framelit - coverted to an oblong.  I used the same method to create a Basic Black mat for it.

Not used to making such large cards, I felt the need to fill in some space with another image from the set!

I stamped another greeting from the same stamp set inside the card and another of the beautiful ladies.

Thank you for visiting.
'Til next time!
Stephanie

Thanks for coming to my blog today! We are being highlighted internationally by Kylie Bertucci and you are able to VOTE for my project. The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop so please vote for my project. You can do that here.

Our theme for this highlight is encouragement as we all need a kind word said to us to build us up.

The simple front of this card hides a secret!
This is a card that I made for a very valued staff member (they're ALL very valued!) who is retiring this week.  It's a Twist and Pop fun fold .

The Wild About Flowers stamp set is great for retirement sentiments

I thought the balloons and mountain scenery were appropriate for someone who will probably travel a bit in her retirement.

Mix and match the Lift Me Up stamp Set, Up & Away Thinlits and Carried Away paper for great results

I added just a touch of shading with the new Watercolour Pencils and an Aquapainter

Creating an oblong with a square Stitched Shapes framelit is very easy
The really special bit is inside the card.  Once it has twisted and popped, she'll have photographic mementos of her colleagues and fun times.

I haven't added to the plethora of tutorials for Twist and Pop cards.  If you've never made one but would like to - just google "Twist & Pop Card" and you'll have plenty to choose from.

If you'd like more information about any of the techniques or products I've used - please feel free to contact me.

The Carried Away Designer Series Paper will be available for FREE from 4th January to 31st March with a purchase of $90.  It matches perfectly with the Lift Me Up Bundle in the new Occasions Catalogue (available 4th January) - so I'm sure you'll want to take advantage of that special offer.

If you live in Australia, don't currently have a Stampin' Up! Distributor, don't yet have a copy of the catalogues but would like to .... do let me know by contacting me.

Thanks for visiting my blog today make sure you head over to Kylie's blog - to vote for my project. I would love to be chosen to do an international blog hop.

'Til next time!

Bee Colourful Inside The Lines - Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek!

I just love this Designer Series Paper!  Not just because it's FREE (during Sale-A-Bration with a product order of $90), not just because it's so pretty - it's just so much fun!  Colouring in is sooo therapeutic!  There are three 12' square sheets each of four designs in the pack and they're black and white - it's up to us to add the colour - if we wish .... it looks great just black and white too!

The Stampin' Up Watercolour Pencils are so easy to use!  I'd coloured an entire 12" square sheet in no time!

I roughly coloured this sheet with the new Stampin' Up Watercolour Pencils and blended with an Aqua Painter.  Click here to see the colouring process.

I used Foam Adhesive Strips to pop up the top layers on this card for dimension and also to pop up the bee

The Dragonfly Deams bundle goes with this paper perfectly!  It will be available from 4 January in the new Occasions Catalogue.  If you were to purchase that bundle plus a pack of Foam Adhesive Strip, the Inside the Lines paper could be yours for FREE (or any other product of your choice from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue)!

Not colours I normally use, especially together, but they've created a lovely cheerful, multi-purpose card!

I've included a photo below of the process I used for the gorgeous bumble bee.
  • I stamped the bee once onto Window Sheet using Stazon ink and then cut it out by hand - carefully around the wings and fairly roughly around the body.
  • Then I stamped again onto Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink.
  • After colouring in the yellow bits (I used a Watercolour Pencil but any form of colouring is fine), I cut around the body and glued it on top of the wings.
  • I curled up the wings a little by wrapping them around something thin.  I happen to have a quilling tool that I used but I would think something like a wooden skewer would work just as well.
  • I stuck the bee to the card with some adhesive foam for some depth.

The bee has lovely shiny, transparent wings thanks to the Window Sheet

Inside the Lines with Copper Wing Dragonfly

I just love this new pack of black and white paper perfect for colouring!  Colouring in is just so therapeutic!   I had fun colouring with the new Watercolour Pencils and an Aqua Painter but anything would work: watercolours, inks, markers, acrylics ...  What could be better than that?  It's FREE with a $90 purchase!!!  Contact me for more information about Sale-A-Bration.

I coloured an entire sheet.  On one half I left the background white and on the other half, I coloured the background blue.

At the end of this post I've included photos of the watercolour pencils blended with Clear Wink of Stella and the Blender Pen

I also experimented with blending the watercolour pencils with a Blender Pen and with a Clear Wink of Stella.  The Blender Pen worked like magic.  It moved the colour around so smoothly and easily.  The Wink of Stella didn't work out so well for me but I think it would have been better if I'd filled the area with watercolour pencil rather than trying to blend it out.

The bee is part of the printing on this beautiful paper, the dragonfly has been cut out and added.

This is the first card I made with my freshly coloured paper.  I added a dragon fly with copper embossed vellum wings. This paper goes perfectly with the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle!

The coloured card front is applied to the white base card with dimensionals for added interest.

I propped the wings up on little pieces of  Dimensionals for added pop.

Graphic illustration of just how easy it is to use the Stampin' Up! Watercolour Pencils!

The photo above gives an idea of how simple it is to colour in this paper - no special knowledge or technique is required to get a nice effect.  I coloured in very roughly with the watercolour pencils and the Aqua Painter smoothed it all out!

On Wednesday (28 December) I'll be sharing the card I made with the area with the blue background.
