Hexagonal Daffodil Delight

I had a daisy left over from a demonstration and was wondering what to do with it.  I had also been demonstrating a variety of techniques with embossing folders, including inking them and/or inking over the embossed surfaces ... and so was born this card!

The embossed piece of Night of Navy card is inked with Craft White ink

Only one more sleep until the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue products are released, including the Daisy Delight Bundle, Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set, Double Stitched Ribbon (here in Daffodil Delight), Berry Burst ink and Faceted Gems (I've used a gold one).

The Hexagons embossing folder was inked with Night of Navy before use.
A brayer was used to add Daffodil Delight ink to the raised embossing.

The remainder of the products that I have used are already available and continuing into the new Catalogue.

2017-18 Annual Catalogue, Sneak Peek, Daisy Delight, Hexagons, Embossing, #thecraftythinker, Stampin' Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The daisy image was stamped twice, twisting the stamp to offset the petals

I stamped the daisies onto Whisper White cardstock with Basic Black ink and then watercoloured them with Berry Burst ink and some Daffodil Delight for the centres.   For the daisy on the front of the card, I stamped two then punched them out with the matching punch and attached them together, offsetting the petals.  For the daisy inside the card, I simply stamped twice, offsetting the petals.

Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack: a quick and easy way to make a beautiful and elegant card
I've been having fun using just the words from these thinlits but today I decided to use it as intended!

I made a lever card with Berry Burst cardstock.  I added a frame of Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper in Berry Burst and layered the centre with Whisper White card and the Lovely Words panel.

In the closed position the flower in the corner blends into the Fresh Florals frame!

The flower in the corner is made from Whisper White and Berry Burst cardstock and the centre is a Glitter Enamel Dot.  To make the flower, I used one of the Eastern Medallion thinlits to cut the White base and one of the Flourish thinlits to cut the detailed Berry Burst layer.  I gently used a bone folder to slightly curl the top petals.

Monotone cards are anything but monotonous!

The sentiments inside the card are from Happy Birthday Gorgeous (to the right) and the Eastern Beauty stamp set (to the left).  The lower edges of the Whisper White panels are decorated with a stamp from the Eastern Beauty set.  For all the stamping I used Berry Burst ink.

Awesomely Artistic Friend

Continuing the theme of watercolour washes - I finally managed to achieve a lighter effect!
Watercolour Wash, Awesomely Artistic, Lovely Words, In Colours, sneak peek, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
Watercolour wash background with Awesomely Artistic and a die cut

The colours I used for the background were Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst.  Once it was dry, I stamped the images from Awesomely Artistic in Basic Black ink.  I, very roughly, added a bit more colour to the foliage with Fresh Fig and Tranquil Tide inks.

The base card is Basic Black followed by a layer of Lemon Lime Twist, another of Basic Black followed by the Watercolour Paper.  As a last step, I added the die cut word "friend" in Berry Burst.  To obtain this die cut, I used one of the new Lovely Words thinlits and simply snipped the word from the middle.

Fabulous Eastern Flamingo

Someone is going to have to explain the flamingo thing to me!  I must be too old and too out of touch to understand the trend for flamingo images!    I received this Fabulous Flamingo stamp set as a freebie at On Stage.  I'm always grateful for freebies so this is my first flamingo!
sneak peek Fabulous Flamingo, Eastern Beauty Bundle, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
I love the new Berry Burst colour - even on flamingoes!

I stamped the three-step flamingo with Powder Pink, Berry Burst and Basic Black inks.  Then I dry-brushed a little more Berry Burst ink over the light pink feathers and added a few shadows with more Berry Burst ink.

Since I wanted the Flamingo to be in front of the grasses, I protected it with a mask (the only fiddly bit!) before stamping the grass image several times in Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive and Garden Green inks.  I sponged the sky with Soft Sky ink.

I stamped the water with Dapper Denim ink and then added some Marina Mist with an Aqua Painter.

At this point I realised that I hadn't masked off any of the bird's legs when I stamped it, so it looked like it was walking on water!  In order to disguise this flaw, I used a flower left over from a previous card and added some leaves.  The flower is made with the Easern Beauty Bundle and has a Glitter Enamel Dot centre.  The leaves are cut with the Rose Garden thinlit in both Lemon Lime Twist and Garden Green and paper-pieced together.

The base card is Dapper Denim and I added a Whisper White layer to provide a small frame around the image.

Thank you for your visit.

One Wild Ride Baby Card

My niece and her husband have just added a baby daughter to their family and I wanted to make a baby card that would resonate with them.
Baby Card, One Wild Ride, Moon Baby, #thecraftythinker, stampin up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
I really love the new Berry Burst colour!

When my niece's husband first joined the family he rode a motorbike that he loved but he gave it up in order to buy a car suitable for their growing family.

So, while a little unorthodox, this card is an acknowledgement of his sacrifice.  I also like the sentiment very much.

The patterned paper is in the new In-Colour, Berry Burst, from the new Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack.  The card is an A5 piece of Berry Burst cardstock folded in half.

I used a Basic Black and Berry Burst Stampin' Write Marker to ink the sentiment stamp and then fussy cut it.

Thank you for visiting.

Daisy Delight in Cherry - Sneak Peek

The other day I sat down with my new Daisy Delight Bundle, watercolour paper and Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Cherry Cobbler inks  and made a coup of cards.  (You can see the other one here).
Sneak Peek Daisy Delight Bundle, Watercolour Wash, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The Daisy Delight Bundle will be available in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue

The entire surface of the watercolour paper had a light wash of Pool Party ink followed by Bermuda Bay, concentrating more colour in the lower left corner and blending out.

I stamped foliage with Pool Party ink and little daisies with Cherry Cobbler while the wash was still damp - although they didn't blend very much.

The double layered daisy is stamped with Basic Black ink onto Whisper White card and watercoloured with Cherry Cobbler ink.  The centre is one of the gorgeous new Faceted Gems.

When the panel was dry, I added the Cherry Cobbler ribbon (I'm sorry to say that it's retired but it was just what I needed!) and adhered it to the Cherry Cobbler base card.  As a last minute thing, I added some little Rhinestone Basic Jewels at random on the card.

Thank you for your visit.

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Special Guest Nadine Koller - Lovely Words Watercolour Wash

Image may contain: text
Welcome to the Crazy Crafters' Blog Hop with our Special Guest stamper, Nadine Koller - we are thrilled to have Nadine join us this month and I'm so excited to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) a project that has been created by her .

Nadine has a beautifully delicate touch and a great eye for design and colour, so it was difficult to choose from all her gorgeous projects!

I really enjoyed browsing through her blog in her original German - just using a translator for critical bits!  What a great way that would be to learn a new language - as long as you don't rely on Google Translate, which would have us believe that the lovely Nadine might eat her children! "My dear ones, I am swinging into our kitchen now, because our kids are all coming from the school and wanting to be eaten."  Haha!  Shame on you, Google!

I love the look of watercolour wash backgrounds (and Nadine is an expert!).  I've never been good at them but I love this card of Nadine's so I've been practising!  You'll very quickly see that my touch with colour is far less delicate and I need a lot more practice!
Watercolour Wash, Lovely Words Sneak Peek, Swirly Scribbles, #thecraftythinker, Stampin Up Australia Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
The watercolour wash background uses Daffodil Delight, Berry Burst and Pear Pizzazz inks

I'm hoping the colours look right on your monitor - I found I had to make some adjustments because the beautiful Berry Burst colour was looking much too blue on my screen.

To the watercolour background I added a Swirly Scribble cut in Whisper White, paper-pieced with Daffodil Delight card.

The word "Friend" is cut with one of the new Lovely Words dies - I simply snipped it out of it's little frame and glued it to a Whisper White oval cut with one of the Stitched Shapes dies.  I adhered the panel to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I've added some twirls of Gold Metallic thread above the oval shape for a little more interest.

The decorative panel is layered onto a piece of Whisper White card and then adhered to the front of the Berry Burst card.

I used an offcut from the front panel to decorate the inside of the card
I hope you've enjoyed this card and I welcome your comments.
