Brusho and Feathers

This card is made with the same Brusho background as this one.

I really like the colour combination of Night of Navy with Lemon Lime Twist
The feathers tucked into the greeting panel are coloured with Stampin' Write Markers and the greeting (from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set) is white heat embossed onto Night of Navy cardstock.  To make that label, I first cut the cardstock with one of the Lots of Labels dies and then, lining it up carefully, moved the die to shorten the piece and ran it back through the Big Shot.

The finishing touches were the piece of Corduroy Ribbon and the Tutti Frutti Self Adhesive Sequins.

Thank you for visiting.

Just Add Colour meets Brusho

It seems I've always had a bit of a confused relationship with the colour orange - whilst I maintain that I don't really care for it - it's always called to me very strongly!

As a youngster one of the biggest arguments my mother and I ever had was over a bright orange silk shirt that I desperately wanted!  Fortunately, she won that battle!  However, when I came home from boarding school to discover that she'd painted one of the walls in my bedroom bright orange, I had to hide my dismay and learn to live with it for more years than I care to remember!

The background is coloured with brushed-on Brusho and the images are coloured with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers
So here we are again, orange and I!  It was a subconscious choice.

This card started with some leftover drops of watery Brusho on my mat after I'd made some backgrounds.  I already had the Just Add Color Designer Series Paper on my desk so it was just a natural progression to use a large brush to add the Brusho to the background of this strip of paper.  In places my brush caught parts of the images but it didn't matter - those accidents turned into shading!

Once it was dry, I coloured the images with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers, using the dark Bermuda Bay marker to add some shadows.

I cut the word twice, once in Pumpkin Pie and once in Tangerine Tango, offsetting them slightly.  The Celebrate You die set is FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a purchase of $180.  Click on the Specials & Promotions tag above for all the great offers and opportunities on offer until 31st March.

I added strips of So Saffron cardstock to each side of the coloured panel and then mounted it on the Bermuda Bay base card.  The base card measures 7 1/2" x 9 1/8", scored in half at 4 9/16.

Our theme this month is Colouring and I have chosen to use a combination of Brusho Crystal Colour and Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.

Adding brusho to the Just Add Color DSP creates a really interesting background

It was an experiment that I wasn't sure was going to work but I'm quite happy with the outcome!

I cut a piece of the Just Add Color paper for my background and sprinkled on some yellow and blue Brusho powder.  I then spritzed it liberally with water, gave it a couple of swishes with a large damp brush and then left it to do its thing.

Dimensionals at the top of the feathers provides depth and interest to the card

While the background was drying, I used the Stampin' Blends to colour some feathers from another piece of the Just Add Color paper and then fussy cut them.

When applying the feathers to the card, I put some glue on the quill ends and added some mini Stampin' Dimensionals to the tops to provide some depth and interest.

Thank you for visiting.  I hope you enjoyed this card.  You are currently visiting Stephanie Fischer - please see the list below and click on the next person on the list to hop through all of the people to see all of our projects.  You don't want to miss any!

Just Add Color Seasonally

August seems to be my busiest month for birthday cards and then there's a flurry of birthdays in November.  So I'm trying to balance my Christmas card production with covering my birthday card requirements.

A masculine card made with the Just Add Color  paper and Stampin' Blends alcohol markers

This, more masculine card, will be for one of our great team at the office.  It's my first play with the Just Add Color Designer Series Paper that is perfect for use with the Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  It was so much fun - I can't wait to colour in the other great designs!

Die cut leaves in matching colours add another dimension to this masculine card

I used layers of Cajun Craze and So Saffron for the card and finished it with foliage cut with the Seasonal Layers and Eclectic Layers die sets using Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso and Old Olive card scraps.  I used the Old Olive Blends on the Old Olive foliage to add some dimension and tie it in with the alcohol marker background.

The greeting from Hello Friend is stamped with Cajun Craze ink, punch out with the 1.25" circle punch and edged with a So Saffron Blend.

Stampin' Blends alcohol markers are available individually, in matched pairs (light and dark) or the complete collection.  Click here for full information or to make a purchase
