70 years of Tarnished Foil Hexagons

This card is entered into the Crazy Crafters Team Highlights this week.  The entire gallery of entries can be viewed here and you can vote for your favourites.

This was the card I made for a friend's special birthday, commissioned by her husband.  It uses the tarnished foil technique and I made the background at the same time as I made this card for the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop and also this card.

I used the same steps described in this post but using the Hexagons 3D embossing folder.

Love the warm metallic mix provided by the Tarnished Foil technique
The flowers are cut with the Eclectic Layers Thinlits from Silver Foil Sheet and Basic Black cardstock.  The leaves are punched out of Basic Black cardstock using the new Leaf Punch from the Holiday Catalogue.

The black and silver flowers look elegantly dramatic against the metallic background
Underneath the flowers I've used one of the Foil Snowflakes in gold (with everything else on the card, it doesn't necessarily look Christmasy!).  The Large Numbers are cut out of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and the strip of Basic Grey Stitched Satin Ribbon anchors it all.  I also added a tiny touch of Fresh Fig Sheer Ribbon to soften the flowers.

This is the sheet in progress - at this point I've used the embossing folder and added some black ink

I decorated the inside of the card with a strip of the tarnished foil that I trimmed from the layer on the front of the card - it was too pretty to waste!

'Til next time!
