Gilded Leafing used in conjunction with Embossing Paste and Decorative Mask
to make a masuline card

These cards continue my experimentation with Gilded Leafing Embellishment and masks.  This time I applied Embossing Paste, in the normal way, onto Basic Black cardstock and allowed it to dry.

Once the paste was dry, I replaced the (cleaned) mask and applied Multipurpose Liquid Glue (in this way), removing and washing the mask immediately.  When the glue had reached the tacky stage (it doesn't take long), I applied the Gilded Leafing Embellishment flakes in the same way as before.

Onto scraps of cardstock (Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Terracotta Tile, Cinnamon Cider) I stamped the Rooted In Nature leaves with Multipurpose Adhesive Glue (you could also use Heat & Stick Powder with Versamark), applied the Gilded Leafing Embellishment and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

The greeting is from the Enjoy The Moment stamp set, stamped in Cajun Craze onto Gray Granite cardstock.

For this card I applied the Gilded Leafing directly to (retired) Silver Embossing Paste

You know I wasn't going to let it rest there!  This time I used Gray Granite cardstock and I applied (the now retired) Silver Embossing Paste through the mask.  I left it to dry for a while, but not completely.  It was tacky but had a bit of firmness.
I then, very gently, applied the Gilded Leafing flakes directly to the embossing paste.  I really like the patchy silver and gold result and am sorry that the Silver Embossing Paste is retired.  However, although I haven't tried it yet, the same technique used with white embossing paste would probably also give an interesting finish.

I reduced the size of the black ornate frame using this method.

Thank you for visiting.
'Til next time!
Stephanie

  1. WOW! You're on a roll with the Gilded Leafing, Girl! Your cards are lovely. Too bad the camera can't pick up the true beauty! I know these are stunning in real life! I've enjoyed the posts you have made using this gorgeous embellishment. I've been playing with it as well. It really adds a whole new "WOW factor"! Hugs to you, Friend.

    1. Thanks, RaeDeen - lovely to hear from you and know you're OK. Yes, it's sooo hard to photograph! I keep telling myself that I must learn to make cards that aren't shiny! ... but I'm a magpie - I like shiny things! Glad you're also enjoying the Gilded Leafing.
