Rose Wonder Brusho

I experimented a bit with this Brusho background.  I made it at the same time as this one and it started out looking very much the same.   I wanted more muted colours so, while it was still wet with pools of colour all over the glossy cardstock, I spritzed with alcohol.  It worked like magic!  The alcohol repelled the water and I was left with this result.

After I'd adhered the rose, I used Stampin' Blends alcohol markers to colour the leaves and add some shading around the rose.

I wasn't very neat and there were little splodges of marker on the die cut so I attacked them with my Color Lifter.  The poor thing was working overtime and couldn't remove all the colour but it did blend it out and I rather like the result.  I thought the completely white die cut looked a little stark and stiff against the loose background.

The greeting is white heat embossed.

TIPS & TRICKS

• Use Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol such as Isocol)
• I strongly suggest spritzing the alcohol in a well-ventilated area ... or, as I did, vacate the area for a while afterwards!

Detailed Floral Stencil

I've been having loads of fun searching through my stash of dies for ones that seem suitable for making stencils with pieces of Window Sheet.  Today I selected the Detailed Floral Thinlits.

I know the recipient likes to keep things simple, otherwise my inclination would have been to
add some bling to the flower centres!

Having smooshed (yes, I'm sure that's the technical term!) the embossing paste through the stencil onto Crumb Cake cardstock and let it dry, I put the (clean, dry) stencil back in position and used a sponge dauber to apply colour to the floral pattern.

I layered the piece onto Very Vanilla and Fresh Fig panels and adhered it to the front of my Crumb Cake card base.

The greeting is stamped onto Very Vanilla with Berry Burst ink.  The label shape is stamped with Fresh Fig ink and the label cut with the matching die from the Rose Garden thinlits.

So this is Tanya's card that I've chosen to CASE.  It features the ghosting technique and some vellum.

And this is my CASE of Tanya's gorgeous card.

Versamark resists the ink and leaves a "ghosted" image.

I stamped the Hello Friend images with Versamark onto Glossy White Cardstock and then sponged randomly with Elegant Eggplant, Lemon Lime Twist, Pear Pizzazz and Tangerine Tango inks.

The greeting is stamped with Elegant Eggplant ink onto Whisper White Cardstock, cut out with a 1" circle punch and edged with Tangerine Tango ink before being adhered to the card front with a Stampin' Dimensional.

The butterfly and flower introduce the Vellum element that Tanya included and I've embellished them with Metal Rimmed Pearls.

The basic card is Elegant Eggplant and I added a very narrow edge of Lemon Lime Twist.

Eastern Beauty Floral

I just can't stop using the Eastern Beauty Bundle - it's so amazingly versatile and fun to use!  On this card, I've paired it with some paper-pieced leaves created with the Rose Garden thinlits.

When I first saw the new In-Colour, Lemon Lime Twist, my reaction wasn't very favourable.  I thought it was too bright, acidic and well - green.  I thought to myself "there's a colour I'll never use!".  So now I'm officially eating my words!  I still dislike the colour on its own but I concede that it adds the perfect pop of "zing" to many colour combinations.  I can see that, in fact, I'll be using it quite a lot!

More new favourites of mine are the Glitter Enamel Dots!

The greeting is a combination of the the banner from Banners For You and the "Best Wishes" from .  The advantage of photopolymer being that I could bend the words to fit the banner. 

My new go-to birthday greeting is from the new stamp set "Happy Birthday Gorgeous"

Inside the card I stamped a couple of leaves from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous set using the new In-colour Tranquil Tide and coloured them with Lemon Lime Twist.  I then added another little flower made with the Eastern Beauty bundle.

Vintage Leaves meet Rose Wonder

This card emerged from my continued experimentation with Emboss Resist and inky layers , however, it wasn't an easy birth!  Some cards come into existence easily, gracefully and in an ordered manner - which can't be said of this one!  This card emerged, kicking and screaming, in the breach position!

Not happy with the way things were going, I kept changing plans and trying different things, so it's hard now to remember exactly what I did and in which order!

I can tell you that I started with Shimmery White cardstock.  I inked the top leaf with Versamark and Cajun Craze inks, stamped it and clear heat embossed it.  After sponging on colour, I used the Embossing Buddy and then sponged Versamark all over the leaf.  After adding the embossing powder, I cleaned away any excess from the edges of the leaf with a clean, dry paint brush then used the heat tool. 

The next step was to sponge the entire card with yellow ink - it looks to me like I may have started with a lighter yellow (maybe So Saffron or Daffodil Delight?).  I would have let the ink dry and then given it a very thorough wiping with the Embossing Buddy.

Using Versamark, Emerald Envy ink and a different leaf stamp, I then repeated the process I used for the for the first leaf - stamping, clear heat embossing, adding colour, wiping with the embossing buddy, adding versamark all over the leaf, adding embossing powder, removing excess with a paint brush, heating.   I would have done that for each leaf.

I sponged and stamped with a variety of inks and cut around the leaves before adhering the panel to a Cajun Craze card that I made to fit the panel.

I made a label with Crushed Curry card, Cajun Craze and Basic Black inks, the Rose Wonder stamp set and matching framelit and popped it up on Stampin' Dimensionals.
