Snowflake Wishes Red Black & Gold : Using leftovers

A Christmas card that uses up some of my leftover Snowflake Wishes

Well, here's the latest in my series of cards using up leftovers - my desk is looking clearer all the time!

The vanilla and black snowflakes were sitting on my desk - so I simply glued them together.  Then I saw the little piece of Gold Foil Sheet so I cut a snowflake from the centre (there's bound to be a card coming up soon that features a gold snowflake!). I adhered the gold rectangle (it's almost but not quite square) to a leftover piece of black cardstock that just needed a tiny bit of trimming.  Then I glued the vanilla snowflake into position.

TIP:  I used adhesive tape to adhere the gold rectangle as I find that wet glues show up on the front of  the metallic card.

HINT: If I were to do this again - I would hide the edges of the gold foil by using a die to cut suitable aperture in the black card and positioning the gold behind it, to form a sort of frame effect with the black.

I stamped the greeting onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and cut it out with one of the Ornate Frames dies.

Snowflake Wishes Shades of Green

The kittens' fascination with the light box continues!

I suppose I need to learn to focus in spite of the cute and adorable four-footed distractions!  They really have a fascination with the light box (that I fear will not end well for the box!). They rumble and tumble in there but as soon as I turn on the lights and point a lens in their direction they sit and pose!  Natural models?

A Christmas card that used up some of my leftover bits and pieces!

OK - let's look at the card I was trying to focus on making!
As you may know, I don't like to throw away leftovers!

The Very Vanilla oval is sort of a double-leftover!  When I wanted to cut a vanilla snowflake, I rummaged in my drawer of white and vanilla "bits" and found the oval that must have been leftover from a previous project.  I'll admit that I took a little bit of care to line up the die within the oval with the thought in mind that I could then make use of the negative shape.

I had cut several Black Glitter snowflakes for this card (which was also all about using a leftover) but didn't use them all, so one of the leftovers found it's way into the centre of the oval.

The Pool Party rectangle was one of the leftover pieces in my blue/green drawer and I cut the scalloped edges from, you guessed it, leftover strips of Very Vanilla cardstock and Black Glitter paper and  I've kept the leftovers from these cuts for future use!

As my grandmother always used to say, "waste not, want not"!

Snowflake Wishes Glittery Step Card

#thecraftythinker #stampinup #cardmaking #christmascard #xmascard #snowflakewishes #funfold #stepcard , Christmas Card, Snowflake Wishes, Step Card, Fun Fold, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
I really needed a piece of 12" square cardstock to make this centre fold card but
made it in two pieces instead

I kind of made this one up as I went along - but I think I got away with it!  It started with the glittery black rectangle with the snowflake negative die cut.  This had been sitting on my table for a while - it was a mistake I made the first time I used this die - I hadn't noticed that it cut the negative shapes.
I finally got around to doing something with it.

A centre fold fun fold Christmas card featuring a panel cut with one of the Snowflake Wishes Dies

I wanted to use Gray Granite for the card base and for some reason had my heart set on making a centre fold.  The only challenge being that I only had A4 size .
If you look carefully, you can see where the two pieces have been joined

So this is a centre fold card made in two pieces!  Where there's a will, there's a way - another of my Grandmother's favourite sayings!

Just add glue to the 1.25" section of the main piece and stick it to the underside of the separate tent fold.

A Christmas Gleaming Centre Step Fun Fold card - with a little extra!

I love fun fold cards and centre steps in particular as they provide a lot of wow factor for minimal effort and complexity!

The baubles on this centre step fun fold Christmas card are "floating"

I did "up the anti" a bit on this one by floating the baubles on a piece of window sheet glued across the void - also something not difficult to do!

The base card is Pretty Peacock decorated with Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper and I used gold heat embossing and Pretty Peacock  for the baubles - cut with the coordinating punch.

Christmas Gleaming Parisian Layers

Another day .... another distraction!  That's how it seems to be going for me at the moment - and this is why .....

A distracting game of hide n' seek in my light box!

#thecraftythinker Stephanie Fischer, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Sydney NSW
Game over, this cute little boy decided to pose

They're 8 months old now.  I heard a noise behind me and found them playing hide & seek in my light box - they obviously feel photogenic!  They're cute and funny, full of energy and curiosity, somewhat naughty but cuddly and affectionate - great companions and incredible time wasters!  I don't seem to get much done these days!

Well - back to cards!  This is a simple but elegant Christmas card.
#thecraftythinker #cardmaking #stampinup #christmasgleaming #xmascard , Christmas card, Christmas Gleaming, Parisian Flourish embossing folder, Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Stephanie Fischer, Sydney NSW
It's not necessarily a Christmas embossing folder but I think the Parisian Flourish embossing really complements the decoration on the bauble.

It's a great card for using up bits and pieces.

The image is gold heat embossed on Very Vanilla cardstock.  I sponged the edges of the bauble with some Gray Granite ink and then punched it out with the coordinating punch.

I used Gray Granite ink to stamp the holly image onto a bit of Very Vanilla Cardstock and then coloured with Pretty Peacock and Gray Granite Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  I darkened the markings on the leaves with a Stampin' Write Marker.

I tied a doubled piece of the gold thread from the Forever Greenery trim combo to the top of the bauble (I made a hole with my Take Your Pick tool) and then attached the holly. I attached this with dimensionals to a Very Vanilla Stitched Shape (it was leftover from a previous project) which in turn had been attached to a square of Pretty Peacock cardstock.

The base card is Pretty Peacock and I added a Very Vanilla layer that had been embossed with the Parisian Flourish 3D embossing folder.
