White Velvet Mistletoe Season

The gorgeous White Velvet Paper will be available only from 1 to 30 November!  Don't miss out!

My first though when I opened up my pack of White Velvet Paper was, perhaps oddly, "I wish I'd had this to use for carpet when I was making cards with interior Christmas scenes"!  Then I thought it would be great for snowy hills or cutting out snowflake decorations.  But I really wanted to put it through its paces and see what could be done with it.

Heat embossing on White Velvet Paper

So I tried heat embossing.  I wasn't really expecting it to work - I thought the embossing powder would get stuck all over the velvet finish.  However, the excess powder comes off quite nicely with a firm tap to the back of the paper!

I did find, though, that I had trouble getting a clean finish with the Mistletoe stamp - however gentle and careful I was with stamping, the velvet picked up Versamark from the spaces between the mistletoe sprigs.  So, I brushed it off with a small brush.  That process wasn't 100% successful but I wasn't unhappy with the resulting shadow effect.

Some colour was added to the White Velvet Paper with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers
I then decided to try colouring the velvet with Stampin' Blends Alcohol markers which worked brilliantly!

Using the Stamparatus, I was able to stamp the greeting in Real Red ink and then overstamp it with Versamark before clear heat embossing it.

I also did some 3-step stamping on the velvet with inks which came out really well and I'll share that card in the near future.

Thank you for visiting.
'Til next time!
Stephanie
